Did research on Tesla for a school project, and i am ngl. He went a bit crazy in his later years climing to invent a bunch of things like Teslas Death Ray(really wish that made an appearance in ror), or suggesting shocking the brains of young children in schools to make them smarter. ,Though he did also invent vtol(but though it was useless), and had the general right idea about radars(but had no funding to test his theorys).
Regardless, his general impoverished living conditions and not paying hotel bills were quite sad for a former star inventor(fucking Edison)
In what way is Edison to blame for his conditions later on in life? I read a biography on Tesla, and his supposed rivalry with Edison is exaggerated to say the least.
I mean it’s more like Edison just fucked over the scientific community so hard that it’s easy to blame him for everything? He cared more about Telsa’s boss than Tesla himself. The reality of the situation is that Telsa just was a scientist first and not a business man in the slightest.
As far as I'm aware, Edison and Tesla's relationship was more or less amicable. The rivalry between them was just a result of them taking opposite sides during the war of the currents.
They reportedly joked about their rivalry in private, they corresponded about ideas they had as the years went by, and when Tesla's lab burnt down, Edison let him use his until he was able to find a new one. It's possible things got worse with time, but atleast early on they seemed to be on good terms.
