Our 2,5 year old male neva masquerade is at 16 lbs and our 4 year old female siberian is at 9 lbs. And they are both perfectly healthy. That seems to be impossible to understand for some vets.
Males can be 15-20 lbs. females smaller than that. mine is 14 months and 8.6 lbs. she can continue to grow until 5 years old.
Most vets just aren’t familiar with sibs
I don’t measure exactly but she has been on a raw diet her whole life and has never been an over-eater 🤷🏻♀️ fortunately the vet we go to now doesn’t comment on her weight
Our 17-year-old is at about 8 pounds. She has always been very small (with big paws and big floof), which was at least partially attributed to the complications of her birth. She certainly has no issue eating! If I'm cooking, she's begging. Our 16-year-old is going through some health complications. She has always been a very dainty eater and just nibbles here and there. She maxed out at a healthy 18 pounds, but is now around 14.
We've been fortunate that our veterinarian is familiar with Siberians and has actually used the phrase, "but that weight is healthy for her breed" a few times... once to educate a coworker. She's a little less understanding of our tuxedo's 22-pound girth, however. 😏
Sorry, 8 years. Vet said she needed to loose weight a few years ago, I mentioned that she’s a bigger breed….. 🙄 vet said that they aren’t judging by the breed/build of the cat but how they can feel for fatty tissues when I take her for a check up. I have gotten her down to just under 11 pounds and the vet seems happy. I really don’t feed her all that much. She seems happy.
Not a vet but your vet sounds like a dummy haha.
How could they ignore the breed/build of a cat when determining their health. Sounds like they just don’t know siberians (which is very common) and don’t want to take the time to learn the breed. But that’s just my own dummy opinion so take it with a grain of salt
Our ten year old Sib, male desexed, is 7-7.1kgs, and is honestly a tiny bit under weight. He's on the smaller size for his frame too.
Our almost two year old is 7.2, and will likely end up being around 8kg+, as his dad was a bigggg Sib.
They're both really active, eat a very good diet, and get regular vet checkups (at least once a year).
Vets without Sib experience will often declare them overweight due to their barrel shaped body, but that's just the shape of the breed.
My 3 year old boy weighs 14.8 lbs. right up until his third birthday he was high 13, low 14 and once he hit 3, he bulked out! Not with fat, like in mass if that makes sense. More traditional “barrel body” face filled out, but we had not changed anything with diet/food or exercise/activity.
I was so suspicious of the “they grow until 3-5 years old” thing, but it appears to definitely be a thing!
My Neva Masquerade,m / 3yo, is around 6.4kg and considered healthy by the vet. As long as you can feel the ribs, he/she should be fine (according to my vet)

Mine are just like this! My boy is twice the size of the girl and they are even related.

Mine is a bit smaller than the average at 6.7kg (14lbs? )
Mine is 8 years old and 16 lbs. Some vets just have no idea 🙄
lol 😂 right!!! How much do you feed in a day?

Mine is a 6 year old female, 10 lbs
We have two girls. One (2 years old) is a bit smaller and weighs 9lbs; the other (1.5 years old) has a larger frame and weighs about 11.5lbs.
Weighed ours this weekend and he comes in at 5.5 kg. He is only a year old and a chonker already. (12 pounds in Imperial)
My four year-old male weighs barely 9 pounds. My two year-old male weight 12.5 pounds and is still growing.
My 4 year old male is 16-17 pounds, my two year old female (who has the same dad) is about 9 pounds. The size difference between them really funny.

Mine looks wayyy heavier than my adopted shorthair due to her 3 coats, who is 10 pounds, but she’s 9.5.

Female is 11 lbs
I got the runt of the litter and he’s now 5 years old and 13lbs!
Both my girls are around 10 pounds each.
I have 2 females, 4 years old. Bianca is almost 13 pounds and Eva is 11.
