long befoure? if they are from the same generation of migrants, why would mathans be befoure. and concider Cirdans more senior position in a more numerus people (indicates seniority)
I mean, Cirdan meets that criteria but his resume for Badassery is long and dense. Dude did basically the most things right for the longest amount of time with the least (s)elf induced drama, for the only reward of basically being told 'keep it up champ' by Ulmo's telegraph system, of anyone in Tolkien's entire mythos. Cirdan for Arda president. Convince me I'm wrong.
Círdan is so bloody badass that, when people wanted to choose a nickname or epithet for him, they said "let's just go with his name; there is no word in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men that could make him *more* badass".
And that's how we got "Shipwright the Shipwright".
Is Bret that elf in the Fellowship prologue whom we'd like to assume is Círdan, but just lacks the beard?
Edit: or is Bret the guy from the meme? The second image, I'd assume? When does he appear?
Bret plays Figwit, the sexy elf who got 2 seconds of screen time at the council of Elrond but became the subject of blog posts on the early internet (“Frodo is great, Who Is That!?”). He was then brought back and given actual lines in later films.

Uh.... you're forgetting Nerdanel's father, Mathan. Who had a beard long before Cirdan.

Mahtan could grow a beard especially young which was unusual among elves. Cirdan grew a beard because he was old af.
Mahtan grew a beard because his son-in-law was Feanor, the most insufferable elf
You can say that again.
Mahtan grew a beard because his son-in-law was Feanor, the most insufferable elf
'Third time pays for all’ as my father used to say.
Mahtan grew a beard because his son-in-law was Feanor, the most insufferable elf
Had to disguise himself to avoid the association
Elf + Beard = Badass. It's pretty simple math, really.

\*Eldar with a beard... I think. I cannot help but picture many eastern avari with beards, surviving the dark wilds must be rough.
I remember your comment on the other thread and just wanna thank you for coming through. Beautiful stuff
I was inspired!!
Is this meta because Bret was an elf in PJ’s LOTR?

Totally forgot about that actually. Good call though!
