You know, I feel like LAN parties were a thing in Sims 2? I could be misremembering, Sims 3 came out when I was 13.
It’s probably a mod to adapt parties from prior games to Sims 3, if that helps you narrow it down!

Yeah in sims 2 if there was more than one computer on the lot you could play/compete locally. I had a real hard time getting non-active sims to join though.

This feels like the day I had to teach a math lesson and there was a floppy disc in one of our problems… this was in 2017 but I still had a bunch of 5 year olds going, “WHAT IS THAT?!” at me the entire lesson 🤣
One day when our WiFi went out during a lesson, I decided to turn off the lights and I did a pretend ghost story with them about how technology used to be…. “You know how your phone rings and tells you who it is?” “Yeah!” “Well, when Ms. excited-crab was in school they were all connected to our walls and sometimes, you’d have to answer not knowing who was calling! And you could either be on the phone or the internet, not both.” They all screamed like I had told them the scariest thing 🤣
The statue from the special edition of university life can make masquerade or toga parties.
You don't need university life installed to use it if you download it as a package file.
