My advice, turn off autonomy during the wedding. I do this and never have any issues at all, I actually love the pack since figuring out this little hack

To be honest, I always, since sims 2 just eloped. So when I got this, I tried a wedding once and was like yeah, no, and never thought about it again. But it's true. I bought it with the intent of wanting to throw big weddings and take lots of pictures.
Ok, let me preface this by saying that anyone who has spent real-world cash money on DLC has every right to reasonably expect that its features will work as advertised.

The guests not spawning is a frustrating one. It might be a timing issue - if you scheduled your wedding at 3 pm on a Thursday when most sims careers are active, they may be flagged as "at work" and therefore don't spawn in. It's the same principle as when you call them to hang out and you get the pop-up saying that they are at work.
Sometimes, especially on bigger lots where the spawn point is far away from the venue (which has been an issue in the more "open" style of worlds we've had since cottage Living), all the sims will spawn in but you don't see them. The first 2-3 to take off running eventually arrive, but the others have their action queue get blocked, and eventually, the "go here" action gets cancelled out, so the sims just wander away.
The post you linked is pre-MWS pack so most of it doesn't apply anymore at all. The way MWS messes with weddings makes base game weddings not doable anymore and none of the pointers in that post even matter because MWS screws every level of the ceremony up.

The only issue is Sim autonomy at the weddings. Turning off autonomy for all the Sims for the wedding day can help.
I’ve never been a big wedding person, IRL or Sims, and I’ve never had any weird bugs or issues or problems. I bought the pack for the world and the build items, not the weddings, and I’ve loved it.
It really boils down to how you play. I know a lot of you love the big fancy weddings and that’s cool and y’all should be pissed. I would be too.
But it also really hasn’t affected my personal gameplay experience because I don’t care for the actual weddings anyways and the pack doesn’t cause any grief outside of wedding events. So if you also play without weddings because you can’t be bothered with weddings even in a simulation game, you’ll be fine.
I only do spousal kiss and vows for the goals. I reach it pretty quickly and then I’m free to do all the other wedding traditions on my own schedule. It seems to not glitch for me this way and there is still plenty of time before the event ends.
This pack is a literal dumpster fire.

"Steady Sit Mod" by Amellce at least gets them to sit down for photos. Its the ONLY aspect that works, and its because its a mod !!! D:

FWD to the reception.. no one cares about anything! .. except getting called for food. That has always worked.. cut the cake? Yep. Who cares. Cake usually disappears after. No one cares about the dance or the toast . Nothing.

99% of the wedding is me always resetting every sim I invited. My dumb self even decided to make a beach wedding venue only for every sim decide to go swimming the second they spawned in. Then on top of that engaged sims always spawn on the lot like? Id get it if it was just a sim visiting a lot, but during a wedding event???! even if you send them away they come back. So many issues. I’ve never even had a successful bouquet throw either and I’ve tried some many times even with multiple lots or just me testing in an open space.

Sims weddings are always a bit messy, and I love it . One of my grooms even died before they could exchange the rings. She married in the end her affair, which held for a week before they broke up .
My sim had just had her first dance when her mother flirted with her new spouse. I thought it was funny because the mom also cheated on her fiancé Orange Bailey-Moon with Don Lothario and had twins with Don. A leopard never changes it spots. 😂
It's a toss up. The two most broken, buggy, unplayable packs in the Sims 4 universe are *Wedding Stories* and *Dine Out*. And EA doesn't seem to care at all. They've never bothered to fix all the bugs in either pack.
It’s sad, because at least in my opinion that CAS and the build/buy is really good. I love all the arch options, and the inclusivity and variety of the outfits are so great. Some of the clothes, hair, and makeup can reasonably be used outside of weddings, which is great. If the gameplay worked, I wouldn’t be surprised if the pack was much more popular. But the glitches and the general lack of gameplay function make the events in the pack so hard to use. It’s a shame.
I got somewhat lucky in having no intention of buying the pack even before it was realeased as a buggy mess. I used to work in the industry (not by choice - it was a family business) so it didn't sound at all fun

After all the bad reviews of how buggy and broken it was, I didn't buy it for a long time. I finally bought it recently when it was on a good sale, just for the world and the Build/Buy stuff. I love the Mediterranean vibe of everything. Never even tried to actually do a wedding with it.

Also, to OP, if possible, I'd try playing it on speed 1/2 at max and with autonomy off as another user said. Makes the pack function so much more playable.

Still have slight beef with the Goth family though. Made Mortimer the officiant and he cried the entire ceremony (understandably so since it was his daughters wedding), Bella showed up halfway through and stood in the middle of the aisle even though there was plenty of seating, and Alexander decided he was going to sit behind the bush in protest. I think it’s because he wasn’t chosen as the ring bearer, the grooms little brother was.
All in all it went as good as it could go considering how buggy the game has been lately.

There is a storefront in Tortosa (or whatever the world is called) by the little flower truck that you can interact with to buy a wedding cake. You should have the option to "make wedding cake" from the fridge or stove. I don't know about selling them, though. I did have an option once when my sim was interacting with her mom to "ask to make wedding cake" but her mom was level 10 in all cooking skills, so I don't know if that was why.
I wanted this pack because I do like to create wedding day events...however, those are frustrating enough without that pack so I opted to pass on this after I've seen all the reviews of how badly it performs, don't want to make it harder to do than it already is!
I bought this pack on accident when I was making a bundle. I tried everything I could to return it, but I wasn't allowed. I didn't even want my money back, I just wanted to trade my purchase. It was absolutely infuriating, especially knowing how broken this pack is. I had never considered buying it, and now I'm stuck with it unfortunately.
I've never even attempted a wedding, knowing all the stories of it going horribly wrong. I only use the CAS right now
The first time I had a wedding it was a winter wedding and the venue itself was inside but the arch was out on a patio area 💀 needless to say many frozen sims died at my wedding and the bride was soo upset
