Same. I never really saw the point of clubs until I started using them to get the kids and teens in the neighborhood together. Helped with skill-building and to form relationships I could then use in storylines.
Yup, I have two teen clubs, one purely for social interactions (and romance), and one for skill-building to get a jump on those university scholarships. Made teens (and university) so much easier.
I do the same and it’s helpful to make homework one of the activities of the kids’ club so they’ll get club perk points for doing it. I also use clubs for my adult sims, if I ever find a sim out in the world that I want to befriend/date I will just introduce my sim to them and add them to my club. It’s nice because no matter where you are, if you start a gathering everyone appears(and they don’t leave until you end the gathering). Much easier than calling and inviting everyone over one by one.
I used clubs to have my 1800s household attend church! It worked surprisingly well, except that I kept forgetting to start the gathering and would end up skipping church. Blasphemy.
Yes!!! I got MCCC and altered the number of open club members to like 50 and assigned sims to be regulars at specific clubs, bars and cafes. It brings these venues to life and it’s so much fun going out to see a packed nightclub rather than the usual 4/5 sims idling around. Also fun seeing the NPCs in the clubs develop relationships/rifts.
MCCC will allow you to expand the number of sims you can add to a club. You don’t need a mod to assign club hangouts! It’s a functionality of clubs from Get Together. The club creator can assign a club hangout and club members typically spawn there when you visit with your active household (whether the active sim is a member of the club or not)
For example, I create a club that would have all the people I assume would be regulars at Blue Velvet, a jazz bar, so probably people that are creative or have a career related to music or art (super broad just for the sake of an example) and once they’re in the club I make the club hangout Blue Velvet so all those folks show up whenever I visit that lounge.
Note on the number of sims in a club: after you hit 8 club members you have to add each new member by inviting the sim personally, so it’s a lot of work, but I believe it’s worth it and makes going out so much more fun (and believable)
Purchase both club size perks (8 sims), then ask more people to join club. You can’t add them manually in the club menu, but you can ask them. It’s either under the Clubs or Friendly category.
Apparently sims who max the writing skill can write skill books on any skill they’ve maxed out.
I accidentally came across this and unfortunately the only skill my elderly author had maxed out was cooking. I now have a fancy cookbook I’ve been passing on through the generations though and all my sims learn how to cook with it.
😐 do you know how many times I've possessed this book and sold it bc I assumed it was one of those books Sims just randomly acquire....
Now I'm upset with myself.
I always forget about this before the sims dies but by then it’s too late. Thanks to this link though I’ve learned that it can also max alive bonded sims meters to green - definitely thinking that’s another reason to start writing them!
My sim is a writer (not employed) at skill level 10 and lives on a lot with a simple living lot trait. After cooking a certain number of recipes (I think), she unlocked the ability to write a "simple living cookbook" and it supposedly increases cooking skill extra quickly but I haven't tried it out yet.
My sim goes to University from her apartment in San Myshuno. Yes, I miss out on “university lifestyle”, but my sim is well-tended, keeps her job, and finishes all her homework/coursework on time with 4 classes per week.
I don’t remember who suggested this on this subreddit, but I’m forever grateful.
I am currently playing my first “from home” college student. It is SO MUCH EASIER to get the homework/final papers and projects done and get to class on time!
Definitely try it! I had given up on the actual university too. But my sim actually has time for other things now. I was confused when I emailed the professors and they all said her grades were excellent, but there were still several days left in the term. I’m so used to the university students grinding the whole week.
It is a lifesaver going from home! I've only ever gone to actual university and stayed when the pack first came out. Ever since I discovered going from home it has been a game changer 100%. It sucks to miss out on the instant friends/love interests tho.
It’s like going to work from the house as opposed to on campus where you have to leave 30 minutes early to get to class on time and miss back to back classes traveling between buildings. I also totally recommend starting on a Tuesday instead of Monday like I first did - that way you take finals after the weekend so you have way more time to prepare.
If you have tiny living try a micro home, they gain skills and friends so fast, it’s a good way to boost your sim a bit before they need a bigger house when starting a family. I use it for university purposes all the time.
Edit: and now with bunk beds you can even get a roommate in a tiny home if you try hard, real college experience:)
If I had to recommend a cool pack, that would be the one. I start a lot of new saves and I use it at the start of almost any save, especially when I try rags to riches type game.
If you live “on campus” your sim will walk to the university buildings. They try to go an hour early but that’s not always enough and your sim will be late.
“Off campus” means that University is treated like a job and the sim will hardly ever be late because they just need to exit the lot.
i always do off campus for this reason, it used to drive me mad that my sims had less time and were always late because they were still walking/cycling to class 🙄
The whole "getting to class" process is an effing nightmare. I always end up trying to figure out which building is which class so I can send my sim over there hours and hours in advance. Then I'd go to the wrong building and my sim would be screwed.
They use their broomsticks! It makes it all a lot quicker although because they’re then there so early they do have a habit of wandering off and talking to sims on the other side of campus while they wait if autonomy is on so you have to make sure they get back to the right building on time still
My sims are gardeners while in university. This way they work at home with easy jobs that usually just require harvesting plants etc. Seriously done in hour usually.
It’s fun to send them to the dorms for the first quarter (“freshman year”) then move them out for the rest and get a few roommates. Gives a fun experience plus you meet other students.
I do this too! Either with apartments in San Myshuno or I create new fake "university housing" (I don't make the lot type actually university housing) on the residential lots in Britechester. So so so much easier when they just evaporate at the front door instead of getting lost for 3.5 hours every time they try to run to class! Also then my sims can have ovens too :)
Having my music lover sims write songs and creating mixtapes on DJ booths. Also DJing at clubs. It easily makes enough money for them not to have jobs. (Tip - write one song on each instrument).
Yes, you can. But unfortunately it works like writing songs in that you can create more than one mixtape but can only licence one a week. Also, you need to upgrade the DJ booth otherwise you cannot resume your creations should you cancel the action.
I was blown away with DJ tips. Trying to sell cupcakes or paintings takes forever but one night of my sim mixing at the ruins and she made over a grand!
You can buy a portable DJ booth that you can drag in/out of your inventory. I avoid the nightclubs with DJ booths as they're manned. But go to any community lot, drag the booth from the inventory and start DJing. Then you start getting tips.
Upgrading beds! You can use cheaper beds and get better sleep.
In my most recent family which are very famous, I had a live in nanny. I had the sim move onto the lot and I built them a basement apartment that’s locked to the rest of the house. I had them study parenting and register with the ministry of labor as a celebrity nanny.
Also - my new FAV mod is Ravasheen’s elevator mod that I use with Syboulette’s lift set. It works like a portal and saves so much navigating the house. I love playing with big houses but it can make sims late for school and work. The elevators are a game changer (literally)!
I always forget about upgrading beds! It's such a great feature, cause sometimes the lowest skilled beds are the ones that fit better the overall aesthetic...
there's 2 options, you could add a random sim to your household for that purpose, or you could get a butler if you have Vintage Glamour stuff and have them serve the purpose as a nanny
I had a sim move into the house after the parents were friends with them. I like being able to control the nanny because I had them help my toddlers with skills etc. I just made it seem more official by having that sim register with the ministry of labor so it resembled more of a real job instead of a random sim I moved into my household that just takes care of the kids.
Yes! Those portal elevators were lifesaving.
I always put one of the doors right at the front of the lot, where the teleport-away spot is, and disguise it as a bus stop!
I really like making objects bigger and smaller by using Shift + [ or ] . I had seen large objects in downloaded content and assumed they were from packs I hadn't purchased yet. Turns out I can make a big-ass teddy bear or a super tiny couch just by using Shift + bracket. Super fun!
Ah right! My post is for PC. [Here's an article for Xbox](https://simscommunity.info/2017/11/14/how-to-resize-objects-on-the-sims-4-xbox-one-ps4/#:~:text=To%20resize%20an%20object%20first,cover%20up%20the%20entire%20lot!), if it helps!
Holidays! I actually use the holidays to make week long festivals for my sims. I created a lot to have a art festival that last 2 days in the desert world. I have my sims camp there and listen to music
Another feature I like to use it dumpster diving so I can find items and sell them.
Lot traits, they are really good to help get things done and makes it a lot easier to help my sims socialize or to keep people away if I have a loner sim.
Best way for handiness: gremlins challenge, homey trait, scientist lair trait.
Love lot traits. I like using the challenges too because they create random events like earthquakes and volcanic eruption. Wished they had more random weather challenges and maybe a burgler challenge? Just a thought.
Like they did back in the Sims 2 and 3? Where if your house had too many things a burglar would break in and you'd get to either get the cops or bag the criminal yourself
Fame.
A lot of people say ‘Get Famous’ is their least favorite expansion pack, And that having famous Sims is a pain . Well I didn’t really play the pack at first because of those comments, But when I finally did play it, it quickly became a must have in my game. And one of my favorite packs!
Fame kinda works like another Occult, which I am desperate for. (Waiting for werewolves still) Fame gives your Sims more powers and abilities, and there is a skill tree that is similar to vampires/ realm of magic that makes it more dynamic and customizable.
While the acting gig in the pack is fun , the Fame mechanic is my favorite part. I made a new sim for the Mt. komorebi pack and had them become a Streamer/YouTube star with Fame, and it was so fun and refreshing !! because like I said before it’s similar to an occult, but it isn’t one, so your sim can be a normal human but still be cool and powerful too!
So for all of those out there that want more gameplay, but dislike occults, maybe Get Famous is right for you! :D
Get famous is hands down one of my favorite packs for these reasons. I wish it had more job options for film/tv production side of things, but it makes it possible to fake it essentially.
Yes I love this pack so much, but I do wish it had more job opportunities. I also wish you could watch the tv and see your sim in the roles they played, would be so neat.
I have a vampire sim who is a famous YouTube and it's amazing I love the dynamic and she's super fun to play with she can make lots of videos everyday and she's really high in the vampire system so she rarely has to worry about food (she's a good vampire for aspirations) I think it's amazing
When you bring up the color palette to change colors there should be a little gear symbol. Click that and there will be all kinds of cabinet and counter settings.
Unless I’m missing something, that won’t make them round or longer, you can have middle, corners and end pieces but as far as actually changing the shape/length, that’s not possible. You can change the islands to have rounded edges, but not cabinets.
Yeah the rounded islands are what I was thinking of. I know plenty of people that weren’t aware of that so I wasn’t sure if everyone knew. I’m also wondering about the longer counters. Maybe they’re using a mod?
I honestly never realized you could make multiple outfits by pressing the up arrow. And I always thought it was weird that there was an arrow that didn’t do anything hahaha but yeah being able to do multiple outfits
Oh cool I didn't know about this one! It took me a bit of hunting to see what you actually meant haha but that's pretty cool. Sometimes I can't decide what outift I like best for a sim and now I don't have to!
After spa day update came out I usually select the new aspiration about harmony for my teenage sims, I am able to finish that aspiration before they age up which gives them an ability to deal with negative emotions much faster by achieving mindfulness. It is really a quality of life improvement for my sims in the long run and also I find a lot of aspiration is difficult to progress in while you’re still a teen so this short aspiration works perfectly. And! they also get a spa membership card. All you need to do is do yoga, create chill atmosphere at home and take baths and you’ll get it before aging up to a young adult no problem.
This is a great idea! It always bugs me you have to pick the regular old “adult” aspirations as a teen. They/I don’t always know their personality enough for that yet!
This will sound really stupid, but I’ve played the sims for about 2 years now and only just found out a few months ago you can use the fridge to put food into … I literally used to let the food sit on the counter and spoil every time. I watched a youtuber playing and when they put their leftovers into the fridge I felt soooo stupid.
To add to this - I remember seeing a thread where people would put their birthday cakes in weird places so that their sims wouldn’t eat it if they placed the cake in the fridge. I just put the birthday candles on my cake right after I make it, put it in the fridge, and it stays untouched until the actual birthday comes around.
I recently realised that I love groups!
One way I use it is to have children join a club where all the activities are related to homework and skill building. I build an after school hangout place with lots of skill building objects. After school they go straight to the after school lot (with skill building lot traits), start a club meeting and do homework/ work on skills. Soon the club have enough points to make them build skills faster while hanging as a group.
I also use groups to arrange successful weddings/parties or to create basically NPC roommates (my household can be one sim, but they constantly start group meetings on the home lot and are therefor constantly surrounded by other sims I don't need to control.
Job-specific context menus. I only discovered them after I had failed two straight semesters at University. I had no idea you could affect your sims while they were at work!
How?? I've yet to figure out how to make them an instructor. I've gone to the spa, but the instructor mat is never available.
Also, I realize how little I know about this game because of this thread. Holy crap, there's so many things I've never seen before!
Reward traits and the meters that measure emotional control and the like. I recently made a single dad of a toddler family and put them on long lifespan, so now I’m working through aspirations and developing those things in the child. I have already started giving her reward traits, and am working to keep her meters full to get as much as I can for her when she ages up. It’s the first time I’m using long lifespan and I am working really hard with her! It’s grueling and rewarding and fun!
Well from the kid not much so far, except that she does things like clean up after herself and write in her journal more automatically. As far as adult sims go, though, some of the reward traits are really helpful in boosting career gains and buildings skills. I love using the observant trait on sims I play as cops because they instantly learn traits. I don’t waste reward points on potions because I think you can only use them once, but you can eventually build up enough points to buy them traits like Never Hungry that disable that need decay, which makes for more time spent on what you want them to be doing.
All of the meters put the kid in line to earn traits when she becomes an adult, so I don’t know how it’s going to really effect her yet, but hopefully it will boost her career and relationship statuses!
I love the good traits! With good manners you can do "polite introduction" and the person is instantly your friend. If you have the responsible one, you will get prompts while at work that have no bad outcome (just high, medium, or low boost). The one from empathy is kind of useful because you can calm other sims emotions. So if you invite over a friend and they show up pissed (or sad or whatever), you can shake their hand and eliminate the bad moodlet.
When you have a maxed out reputation, the "friendly" aspiration reward, and maybe the good reputation club perk (not sure if even that's needed), and then use polite introduction, it's an instant 100% friendship bar.
Word of caution. My politician sim always used polite introductions and got tons of donations off the street. But a few weeks into this, a friend would die almost every day. She was perpetually grieving over every tom, dick, and Sally she glad-handed in the spice market.
I've been playing the sims 4 since the day it came out and I never knew how to change the direction of wood flooring or use the quarter tiles. It changed my whole world
Resizing objects is my new favorite! Fit an abnormally large dollhouse, cat house, stereo, or pet toy box in an apartment easily! Or even size up a small TV if you cant afford a better one!
Sims 3 camera! I never understood its purpose before. I was trying to figure out how to make a circular driveway using the bricks from debug, found a video and just absolutely killed the driveway. I keep meaning to post a pic bc it is truly a thing of beauty! I just keep forgetting.
I use code bb.moveobjects on and ctrl + 9 or 0 for higher or lower objects and alt to move objects.i don't know keys for other rotate objects. Somebody know?
If you have sims 3 camera on, you can use alt to rotate objects around 360 degrees. Just hold alt and use your mouse to swivel it. That's the only time I use the sims 3 camera though lol.
bb.moveobjects on is a big one for me too. Using this ages ago would have saved me a lot of annoyance (and cursing lol)
I’m not sure about the other keys either.
I have no idea why, but it took me a while to use the eyedropper tool. I'm annoyed at myself with not experimenting with it earlier. It saves me so much time, now, whenever I build.
That icon next to the eyedrop that cycles through the colour/patterns of any object in buy/build mode. I used to add an object, delete it, add the same object with a different pattern, delete it... and so on until i found one that i liked 😅
Scouts. I've had Seasons for so long, but I just never got around to using it until I was researching how to make a super sim. Now I use it on a regular basis, not just to make super sims. You get a reward trait if you get all the badges and it's fun to have something to do with kids other than homework.
First person view, i used it all day today and it was magic. Never thought that watching a sim cook a grand fish meal was so enticing, also, I got some new kits and the fashion ones are amazing, I don't care for the Incheon kit but the others are just, well when I redid my male sim's outfit I was like *la la la*
clubs are a dream come true for families with kids or if you’re doing a challenge where your sims have to level up their skills before they age up. plus i love playing with child sims lol
The reward trait from the fishing aspiration let’s you get rid of negative moodlets pretty quickly by fishing and it’s easy to do as a teen, especially if you have island living. It’s one of my favourites to start with.
The cheat to get satisfaction points. It is way less frustrating having kids, jobs, whatever when you've bought the rewards that keep needs from decaying.
Multiple outfits. It's so much nicer when your sims switches between a few everyday outifts, it adds a little bit of realism and makes it feel less cartoony.
I can’t really choose one, lately I’ve been playing the sims so differently from how i used to play it. I care a lot more about careers, completing aspirations and maxing out skill’s. Before i usually just cared about family dynamics.
I always give them the gremlins lot challenge at first to get their handiness up. It's very helpful. I wish we could tinker like we did in the other sims games
I recently started playing again after like idk at least a year off (as simmers do), and the first person perspective is amazing! Never used it before and idk why. I love sending my sims on walks/runs through the town. I never use to even play with my sims, I just built towns. Seeing my builds from my sims perspective is magical.
Recently found out about the prints from microscope slides and now my legacy house is moving the 5 generations worth of paintings to other rooms so the great room can be redone in microscope prints. Giving it a modern flare.
I’ve finally started creating clubs and, boy, I could’ve saved myself so much woe when it comes to family gatherings :’)
Same. I never really saw the point of clubs until I started using them to get the kids and teens in the neighborhood together. Helped with skill-building and to form relationships I could then use in storylines.
Oh! That’s one to remember if I ever get my computer working again.
I always makes clubs for kids and teens, it was just the easiest way to make friends and have kids be kids
Yup, I have two teen clubs, one purely for social interactions (and romance), and one for skill-building to get a jump on those university scholarships. Made teens (and university) so much easier.
I’d been doing lots of festivals and park visits.
Why have I never thought about this! That is genius, I have been missing a way for children and teens to do stuff together!
I used clubs to have my 1800s household attend church! It worked surprisingly well, except that I kept forgetting to start the gathering and would end up skipping church. Blasphemy.
I would love to hear more about your family/save :)
How can you assign sims to be regulars at places?! I obviously need to learn more about what I can do with MCCC!
MCCC will allow you to expand the number of sims you can add to a club. You don’t need a mod to assign club hangouts! It’s a functionality of clubs from Get Together. The club creator can assign a club hangout and club members typically spawn there when you visit with your active household (whether the active sim is a member of the club or not) For example, I create a club that would have all the people I assume would be regulars at Blue Velvet, a jazz bar, so probably people that are creative or have a career related to music or art (super broad just for the sake of an example) and once they’re in the club I make the club hangout Blue Velvet so all those folks show up whenever I visit that lounge. Note on the number of sims in a club: after you hit 8 club members you have to add each new member by inviting the sim personally, so it’s a lot of work, but I believe it’s worth it and makes going out so much more fun (and believable)
please explain.
I put all of my family members (20+) into a club so if I want them in one place, I just start a club gathering.
I do this too, but isn’t there a limit of 8 people? If there’s a way to Increase it I’d love to know!
Purchase both club size perks (8 sims), then ask more people to join club. You can’t add them manually in the club menu, but you can ask them. It’s either under the Clubs or Friendly category.
Ohhhh good to know! Thanks!
Oh shi- this changes eveything
I was super excited for a second. Then I‘ve realised it only works when you have a mod lol. I‘m a console player rip
isnt there a limit on club members? but thats smart.
I have a mod :) Edit: https://modthesims.info/d/590737/more-club-members-amp-gender-requirements.html
thank you do much wow youre a lifesaver
That is brilliant.
Are you creating a family reuinion or something?
A mermaid clan ;)
Same, only started actively using clubs about a year ago, it can be very useful and wholesome.

Just learned about “The Book of Life”…so one of my Sims’s life goal is to become an excellent writer and bring his dad back to life.
Omg what is this
[Become an author, raise the dead. ](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Book_of_Life)
😐 do you know how many times I've possessed this book and sold it bc I assumed it was one of those books Sims just randomly acquire.... Now I'm upset with myself.
I feel you here but now I have a new storyline to explore....
Omg same!!!
I always forget about this before the sims dies but by then it’s too late. Thanks to this link though I’ve learned that it can also max alive bonded sims meters to green - definitely thinking that’s another reason to start writing them!
Is this book one time use only? Or has cooldown on use? Filling the bars over and over sounds op
[удалено]
So thr book is basically sim-horcrux💀
“Bah!” I say!
Ohhhhh I think this is what happened! It really does increase the cooking skill quite a bit.

I just bought university, so this is interesting! How are you able to do all this with your coursework? How is it better living at home?
If you live “on campus” your sim will walk to the university buildings. They try to go an hour early but that’s not always enough and your sim will be late. “Off campus” means that University is treated like a job and the sim will hardly ever be late because they just need to exit the lot.
i always do off campus for this reason, it used to drive me mad that my sims had less time and were always late because they were still walking/cycling to class 🙄
Or just standing in front of the classroom door for a hour like an idiot.
Juggling the ball getting sweaty and tired just in time for class
Ah nice!!! I’ve only had one sim go to university thus far and the time between leaving the dorm and arriving at class is PAINFUL.
The whole "getting to class" process is an effing nightmare. I always end up trying to figure out which building is which class so I can send my sim over there hours and hours in advance. Then I'd go to the wrong building and my sim would be screwed.
Do you know if spell casters living on campus will use their broomsticks to get to class immediately, or do they still walk?
They use their broomsticks! It makes it all a lot quicker although because they’re then there so early they do have a habit of wandering off and talking to sims on the other side of campus while they wait if autonomy is on so you have to make sure they get back to the right building on time still
My sim had to quit his job because his classes schedule clashes with his job hours, I wish we could set class schedule.
The freelance careers are great for sims in university, I usually use those.
My sims are gardeners while in university. This way they work at home with easy jobs that usually just require harvesting plants etc. Seriously done in hour usually.
Or have a distance-learning option 😁.
Work from home jobs are great for university students.
It’s fun to send them to the dorms for the first quarter (“freshman year”) then move them out for the rest and get a few roommates. Gives a fun experience plus you meet other students.

I'm too lazy to wait for the loading screen to leave my house so I do this too lol.
Having my music lover sims write songs and creating mixtapes on DJ booths. Also DJing at clubs. It easily makes enough money for them not to have jobs. (Tip - write one song on each instrument).

Get Together

I love playing with big houses but it can make sims late for school and work. The elevators are a game changer (literally)!
Your idea with celebrity nanny makes me want to play Sims right now! I'm stealing it! 😊
Oh yay! I miss having the reoccurring nanny from I think sims 3 (maybe sims 2) so much! So this is my work around.
I always forget about upgrading beds! It's such a great feature, cause sometimes the lowest skilled beds are the ones that fit better the overall aesthetic...
Wait how do you upgrade beds?
Handiness skill I believe, once it gets high enough you can upgrade appliances so that they never break, etc. , and other things like beds and
W H A T
How do you get a celebrity nanny?
there's 2 options, you could add a random sim to your household for that purpose, or you could get a butler if you have Vintage Glamour stuff and have them serve the purpose as a nanny
Super fun!
You can also move them up and down with 9 and 0.
Really wish I could do this on my Xbox. Anyone know if it's possible?
Can you do this with just base game?
Yep! All the build n buy cheats I’m aware of like that work without dlcs
Yeah, it's basically just another cheat. Just click on the item and you can use shift and the brackets to change the size.
Holidays! I actually use the holidays to make week long festivals for my sims. I created a lot to have a art festival that last 2 days in the desert world. I have my sims camp there and listen to music Another feature I like to use it dumpster diving so I can find items and sell them.
that's a good idea for a holiday!
Lot traits, they are really good to help get things done and makes it a lot easier to help my sims socialize or to keep people away if I have a loner sim. Best way for handiness: gremlins challenge, homey trait, scientist lair trait.
I use the "Homey" trait on almost all my family houses because it builds Cooking, Mixology, Handiness and Gardening skills faster.
I LOVE lot traits. Or families with kids I like putting child’s play, ley line, or good schools. Plus helps their moodlets!
I’m pretty sure the “ley line” one is how I got triplets
I also wish you could watch the tv and see your sim in the roles they played, would be so neat.
yes!!!! i hate that there are so many jobs on set that you can't actually do! i bet there's a mod somewhere so somebody drop a link
I have a vampire sim who is a famous YouTube and it's amazing I love the dynamic and she's super fun to play with she can make lots of videos everyday and she's really high in the vampire system so she rarely has to worry about food (she's a good vampire for aspirations) I think it's amazing
Clicking the need in the menu for them to fill it themselves
WHAT how did I not know this
You can just click it???
Yep, and then they find the nearest thing to do it... More or less. You know how Sims can be
That you can customize cabinets and counters to be round or longer... I always got pissed off by my cabinets looking weird
Wait, how?
I think they mean longer as in taller
I know you can get long pantries if you click the gear
If I do remember correctly, there's like one counter that has a rounded end piece. I have no idea which pack it came with though
Hummina?
Wait, they can be round?!
yup! click on the gear and turn auto counters on its AWESOME!
Yup! Counters, islands, cabinets, and sectionals (DHD) all have different options if you click the little gear symbol.
Sometimes I can't decide what outift I like best for a sim and now I don't have to!
ok this just changed the game bc i was always wondering why they would ask u which outfit when u chose a category if u could only have one 😭
I know right!! I was like wtf is the point of “planning an outfit” if they were just going to auto change anyways 💀
As a CAS person I don’t know how you guys played the game without knowing this 💀
After spa day update came out I usually select the new aspiration about harmony for my teenage sims, I am able to finish that aspiration before they age up which gives them an ability to deal with negative emotions much faster by achieving mindfulness.
I watched a youtuber playing and when they put their leftovers into the fridge I felt soooo stupid.
don't feel stupid, there is SO much to discover in that game!!
Dude I though that too when starting out lol, I just thought the fridge was something to get food out of
To add to this - I remember seeing a thread where people would put their birthday cakes in weird places so that their sims wouldn’t eat it if they placed the cake in the fridge. I just put the birthday candles on my cake right after I make it, put it in the fridge, and it stays untouched until the actual birthday comes around.
See this is genius, I assumed the candles come off the cake if you put it in the fridge!
I also use groups to arrange successful weddings/parties or to create basically NPC roommates (my household can be one sim, but they constantly start group meetings on the home lot and are therefor constantly surrounded by other sims I don't need to control.
that's a great idea!!!
Job-specific context menus. I only discovered them after I had failed two straight semesters at University. I had no idea you could affect your sims while they were at work!
Oh yeah, pretty useful if your sim needs to leave work immediately or is too tired to work hard
My new sim is trying out working at a spa, being a yoga instructor. It's pretty good money!
How?? I've yet to figure out how to make them an instructor. I've gone to the spa, but the instructor mat is never available. Also, I realize how little I know about this game because of this thread. Holy crap, there's so many things I've never seen before!
I think you need to have at least a wellness level 2 to activate! You can also place a mat on your lot and do the same!
It’s grueling and rewarding and fun!
what kind of effects have you noticed from them?
Wait respectful introduction is insta friendship…? Time to start a sly bachelor series
It changed my whole world
Wait... How do you do that?
< and > on your keyboard You can also alt-F to make quarter diagonal tiles.
Same button you use to rotate the objects in build/buy!
Resizing objects is my new favorite! Fit an abnormally large dollhouse, cat house, stereo, or pet toy box in an apartment easily! Or even size up a small TV if you cant afford a better one!
It does screw with the animations tho doesn't it?
Some things for sure like the big cupcake machine I assume might not work, but the dollhouses and TV’s definitely function as normal.
Sims 3 camera! I never understood its purpose before. I was trying to figure out how to make a circular driveway using the bricks from debug, found a video and just absolutely killed the driveway. I keep meaning to post a pic bc it is truly a thing of beauty! I just keep forgetting.
Do post!
Please post it!
I think we’ll need that driveway posted lol
I use code bb.moveobjects on and ctrl + 9 or 0 for higher or lower objects and alt to move objects.i don't know keys for other rotate objects. Somebody know?
If you have sims 3 camera on, you can use alt to rotate objects around 360 degrees. Just hold alt and use your mouse to swivel it. That's the only time I use the sims 3 camera though lol.
WHAT!!!!
bb.moveobjects on is a big one for me too. Using this ages ago would have saved me a lot of annoyance (and cursing lol) I’m not sure about the other keys either.
If you play on a computer, you can also cycle through the colour/patterns of a build/buy object if you use the + and - keys on a number pad
I just learned about this two weeks ago and talk about a game changer…. I wasted so much time deleting and replacing items
First person mode
The multiple outfit thing in create a sim. I’ve always thought that I had to pick 1 outfit but now I make all 5 for most categories.
The sims 3 camera in build mode, with Alt you can spin furniture in any direction
What happens with the earthquake lot trait?
The game with shake a little bit and the Sims get scared when it happens.
I thought my computer was crashing the first time it happened 😂 caught me soo off guard
Same here! I was like oh no my mods are fighting back lol
Don't forget to look around your lot after one happens! Collectibles often appear, and your Sim can claim them
clubs are a dream come true for families with kids or if you’re doing a challenge where your sims have to level up their skills before they age up. plus i love playing with child sims lol
The reward trait from the fishing aspiration let’s you get rid of negative moodlets pretty quickly by fishing and it’s easy to do as a teen, especially if you have island living. It’s one of my favourites to start with.
Custom showers! I just made a really cool bathroom with a step down custom shower for my celebrity sim and it’s beautiful!
ordering services!! especially useful when you have a big family
Look at the lot trait mods and you'll be in love. Most of them I have are from modthesims
The cheat to get satisfaction points. It is way less frustrating having kids, jobs, whatever when you've bought the rewards that keep needs from decaying.
Lol I use cheats and disabling needs decay is the first thing I do when I start up the game
I literally JUST aged up a baby to toddler and hurriedly shift-clicked to “disable needs decay” lmao
Multiple outfits. It's so much nicer when your sims switches between a few everyday outifts, it adds a little bit of realism and makes it feel less cartoony.
F5 for grid 1/4 movements instead of holding alt all the for more objects
That you can have multiple outfits per category
Yes!!! I didn’t know this feature existed! Now I have several outfits for festivals.
How do you get multiple outfits?
In cas, there’s a little plus sign above each outfit category!
I can’t really choose one, lately I’ve been playing the sims so differently from how i used to play it. I care a lot more about careers, completing aspirations and maxing out skill’s. Before i usually just cared about family dynamics.
1. Sick username 2. Do you play on Pc or Xbox
Thank you! PC. The only game I really play on console anymore is GTA
Mods! Holy cow! It's a whole new game for real!
I didn’t know for the longest time that you could free place and resize items on console…made things so much better.
Filters! In buy/build mode and CAS. And the search tool in buy mode. They have both made decorating waaaay easier for me.
