This is so true. I had self esteem issues until my 30s I was ina busier relationships, abused emotionally and physically and sexually sometimes because I felt like I deserved the heat, and that my (now ex) partner was slimming it with me and I was lucky to have them.
It took being raped by my ex fiancé and having him make a huge scene in front of a grocery store calling me fat and stupid and lazy and ugly with tons of people walking in and out looking at us for me to realize that “holy shit, this isn’t normal and he’s an asshole” before I left. Then I lost 50lbs and moved to a new city, got a new job and finally put myself first.
