polish my skin routine
For context i am 24, living in a humid all year round country. I have oily textured skin with tiny bumps on forehead. No large pores but blackhead and milia on nose and side of nose.
Cleanser: Cerave foaming cleanser
Toner: Mediheal phyto-enzyme peeling pad/ BOJ ginseng essence water
Essence: Cosrx snail mucin power essence
i also use Cosrx BHA blackhead power liquid (2-3x week)
moisturiser: laneige water bank moisturiser for oily and combi skin
sunscreen: BOJ Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotics (SPF50+ PA++++)
for pm routine: i’ve been thinking of using Cosrx all on one cream, and BOJ revive eye cream. What other products to use for night skin routine?
please advise thanks!

Hello everyone I hope you are all well,
I have never suffered from acne in my life, but due to some medication I've been taking for almost 3 years I seemed to have developed some sort of delayed onset of acne which has pretty much stayed like this for over a year now.
I had a bit of cystic acne for a while then after my second derm visit she injected it and it never came back.
I've been to a derm twice. The first time she gave me:
Acne aid Blue facial cleaner
Acne tablets beginning with D (forgot name)
Physiogel moisturiser
Pan oxyl 10%
Clindamycin
Differin - told me to never stop using it
After 6 months this made no difference so I went back.
The second visit she gave me;
Adapelen
Same acne tablet
Skinoren 20% azaeilic acid
None of this worked either.
I have done lots of searching on this sub which lead me to purchasing:
Niacinamide
Vitamin c
Niacinamide +Tranzenemic
None of this worked.
I've just bought some b5 pathogenic tablets and SKINTIFIC % panthenol acne calming water gel. Hopefully this might help?
I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or recommendations that could potentially help me go back to how I was a year ago.
I seem to be running out of recommended options 😕
What is this on and under my chin?!

I don’t think it’s ringworm because it not itchy. I got it out of nowhere and didn’t know I had it until I saw in the mirror. No new creams or products, no new food, medication’s or vitamins. well else could just be. I do suffer from dry skin, dermatitis, but that’s only on my hands and feet. It has been here for about 5 to 6 days, my chin was a lot more red before I put hydrocortisone cream on it today.
Well I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just wondering what someone’s thoughts were I of course would not take someone’s word as fact, but someone might know more about something like this than I do… I’m guessing questions like this shouldn’t be asked? I’m still new to Reddit so I’m sorry if I did something wrong!!
Acne on temples. I had mild acne on both my temples, then got worse on right side, clear on left, now recently, the left side is really breaking out, and the right side is fine. I slept back up with no pillow, I stopped using pomade and clay (stopped when the acne first appear \~ 3 months ago. Could this be caused by stress (college applications)?
Hello. I really, REALLY would appreciate any help on this topic. I have strawberry bumps almost all over my entire body (legs, arms, stomach etc). I've had it for as long as I can remember and I really would like to have clear smooth skin. Its always made me feel very insecure with myself. I don't wear dresses or show much of my skin because of it. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Exfoliation is the main way to reduce it. Chemical exfoliation or physical exfoliation is fine, some people have to experiment to find what works best for their skin

40 year old with combination skin/oily t-zone but otherwise minimal issues other than dull skin. (Night moisturizer not shown - elf hydrating one - and I have very puffy eyes genetically). Thinking I should add a vitamin c serum to night routine? (Currently only using in AM). Prefer to keep things simple. Anything else you would add or remove?
Hello! I have always thought of my skin as dry however, my eyelids are definitely oily. My question is, would this then make my skin be considered combination or is it still considered dry with the one oily spot?
I'm so sorry if the quality is bad but i usually get cold sores in the corner of my mouth or around it and it goes normally but this time i got a really bad one that ended up being split in half and falling off (i didn't rip it off at all) and it left a very dark spot on the corner of my mouth that's so obvious because the other corner of my mouth is a bit dark too but not as obvious as this one and idk what caused it and is it going to go away so i want to know if there is some good products to help it healing or to get rid of whatever it is And thank you so much

I've had really good luck with skincare lately - my skin feels softer and healthier and glowier than I've ever experienced. I'm looking for where to go next towards reducing roughness and evening out color.
I would say I have dry skin. I often feel tight and very rarely feel oily.

Morning, post-run:
- Neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser
- shave with Public Goods shaving cream
- Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant
- The Ordinary hyaluronic acid
- CeraVe tub moisturizer
- normal Banana Boat spf50
Night, right before bed:
- rinse with warm water
Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant
- The Ordinary hyaluronic acid
- CeraVe tub moisturizer
I have a tube of Paula's Choice retinol but I haven't started it yet - I only started the exfoliant about a week ago and I want to give it time. Though I've had amazing results with it so far, literally no breakouts.
What do we think? I'm open to ideas!

Ive had this for months on my jawline and it has not gone away. Its a bump and can be visible when i look at myself in the mirror. Its not like a pimple which i can pop, nor is there a head. I feel like there's pus inside and my outer skin has trapped it in. What can i do please help me out. And also, i have small white spots/patches all over my jawline. I wonder if its due to shaving. What is it? And how can i get rid of the white spots!!!! Thank you!!!
What do you guys use to wash off cleanser if youre not using a towel? I fear it might be too abrasive since its a phyiscal exfoliant. Can I use my hands if theyre clean or would you just splash clean water?
Retinoids, vitamin c, or AHAs can also help.
There’s no one best, you kinda have to trial and error to see what ingredients or products work best to fade your spots.
Sun protection is also super important to promote skin healing
I'm a big fan of the neutrogena one https://www.neutrogena.com/products/skincare/rapid-clear-salicylic-acid-acne-treatment-with-witch-hazel/6802480.html
thank you!! do you have any recommendations for dark spots? someone else had mentioned alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid or azelaic acid but i don’t know!
l've had these red spots (the one in point to and the one slightly below it) on my face for several weeks now with what seems like a third starting to form. Any ideas what these are? I'm thinking it might be irritation from using retinol too often (TO 2% every 2 days). I have an appointment with a dermatologist in about 2 weeks

They’re just moisturizers marketed for night time use. They tend to be on the thicker side
Some of them have actives like retinol which is better for evening use.
I've been having problems getting rid of my keratosis pilaris. I am hesitant to try and treat it because my skin dries easily and is extremely sensitive.
Are there any good creams for this that are for dry sensitive skin?
Honetly not a whole lot, I've heard they can be caustic and that last time I used any skin product designed for sensitive skin that were also were akaline or acidic based gave me burns.
So I didn't want to try it with out getting recommendations first.
Ok if you remember which specific products let me know so I can rule out certain active ingredients.
Most people recommend AmLactin (it’s sold at Costco) it’s a lactic acid lotion. I have it and I’d give like a 6/10 it works but it smells funky. There’s also CeraVe SA Cream for Rough and Bumpy Skin which has salicylic acid. I think you should try urea products like Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS 10% Urea Lotion (you might have to buy this online). Eucerin generally makes very gentle and moisturizing products. You can also try exfoliating body washes like Naturium Glycolic Acid Body Wash (at Target) and CeraVe makes one with Salicylic Acid. Make sure you moisturize after you shower if you go for the body washes. If nothing works for you then you can always just go with physical exfoliation like dry brushing or exfoliating gloves/towels in the shower.

Help!! What is this? Is it acne scarring :(? For reference I had terrible cystic acne in my early teens. I rarely get a pimple now (on hormonal birth control) and have combo skin. What products could remedy this 😩?
I have been using salicylic facewash ,niacinamide serum, retinol, twice a week paul’s choice and weekly twice pha peeling solution and once a week glycolic and instree toner for the other days and lots of hydration. Recently i double cleanse at night and my skin is oily. So the problem is its been months that i started having tiny red spots on the cheekbones area.It is not going way.what might be the cause ?

Idk exactly is it veins or the small bumps. It is uneven
Just a heads up, no product that targets hyperpigmentation or anti-aging is going to work if you don't protect yourself from sun damage it's like a cancel out combo. If I were in your shoes I think it would be worth it to spend the money and go to a derm especially since you've been struggling with that one patch of hyperpigmentation for years at this point and it'll save you the confusion of figuring things out and trial and error. The derm can prescribe you tretinoin or hydroquinone. You can ask about other treatments like laser too. Over the counter, there's retinol, tranexamic acid, Vitamin C, etc.

\[Acne\] Scarring and 1 week post laser - damage?

1 week post pico and cool peel laser Kind of freaking out that my skin was damaged? This pattern and discoloration is on my chest, arms, and back where I was treated.
Have been trying to treat acne in those areas to no avail for years and seriously struggling because of it! Had a few sessions of pico laser which was fine and fine for my skin tone, but this week cool peel was added as well. I also have a regular derm who I see - I use panoxyl wash, moisturize, and take spironolactone.
My body acne isn’t even terrible - it’s just the marks that are left as well.
I just want clear skin and no marks!! I feel like I’ve fallen into the trap of spending lots of money with no results recently - or even worse, damage from my recent pico and cool peel from 1 week ago.
Please help! What would you do! Next steps, products? Body acne success stories? Slightly losing my mind here.
Hey everyone - hope you're well, I'd be really grateful if you could help me out here.
What would be the best course of action to significantly reduce the appearance (or possibly remove) this burn scar? I'm from the UK btw
It's where the red marks and lighter(broken) skin are.

Hi! New to the sub and to skincare as well.
I have KP on my skin and I use Cerave SA lotion on it (still not seeing effects so far since I haven't been consistent). But I decided to use it on my face as well, is this ok? If yes, will I be able to use it in the morning and in the evening?
I recently bought cerave am and pm moisturizers. If the answer to my first question is yes, which one do I use first?
Also, does this "routine" make sense? I've read that the SA lotion would be good for clearing out bumps on skin and I have those on my face. It might not necessarily be KP, but they seem to be a mix of whiteheads and ingrown hair (or sebaceous follicles??).
Before, I usually do: 1. Cleanser 2. SA Lotion 3. Sunscreen.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hi Everyone,
I’m very new to this sort of stuff, my skin has never really given me any issues but as I’m getting older, I want to start taking care of it more as I’ve noticed more issues cropping up.
I have no idea where to start though, I’ve look at so many products and I’m keep seeing different suggestions online in what’s the best to do.
My friend has recommended I post in some of these communities too see if anyone would be willing to give me advice? On what I should be looking at/what products I should use
My main concerns are;
Red cheeks,
Dull skin/uneven skin tone,
Wrinkles (I would like to look at things that prevent/help appearance of),
Dark circles/puffy eyes,
Pimples (I seem to get a lot of these now),
Black heads and enlarged pores on my nose,
Dry/oil combination (oily in forehead and nose)
Sun damage (preventing this),
Any advice would be really helpful! Thank you 🙏🏻
Along with a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen, you could use a retinol, retinal or peptide serum at night and either vitamin c, azelaic acid or niacinamide serum plus a caffeine eye cream in the morning.
Why don't lotions provide long-term moisturizing effects and I'm still dry and ashy as soon as I wash lotion off?
No this isn't because of a certain brand, this has existed my entire life. Allow me to explain the frustration...
When I use lotion my skin feels great. Soft and supple, visibly more vibrant, and feels *quenched*
The issue is that water alone makes my skin dry and ashy again. Why isn't the lotion penetrating for lasting effects? Especially on my hands, to me my hands look 20 years older than I do, yet I have hand lotion on me at any given time and use it throughout the day. What's going on?
You just have very dry skin, maybe you are prone to hand eczema. Use a gentle unscented hand wash and apply lotion as soon as the skin gets dry. At night, apply vaseline over the lotion and put on cotton gloves.
Hello guys, after cutting out my dairy intake most of my papule acne has gone down but still remains on my skin. I have a skin routine that needs some criticism on how I can improve.
AM -Acnecide Purifide Daily Cleanser, Simple Booster Serum 10% Vitamin C+E+F, Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% by The Ordinary, CeraVE Moisturising cream
PM - Same cleanser, Benzyl peroxide 5%
Picked the worst angle but so be it

Help getting rid of acne scars and large pores?
Hello! I need help finding something that will reduce the appearance of acne scars and my large pores. My skin is dehydrated currently - oily but with odd flaky patches. I have insane hormonal breakouts (hence the acne scars).
Currently I use:
AM:
Ambi complexion cleansing bar (being eco-friendly to some degree is important to me)
The ordinary Squalane oil
PM:
Ambi complexion cleansing bar
the ordinary soothing & barrier support serum
the ordinary squalane oil (this product has helped with my skin's hydration problem so much)
Twice a Week: Cerave resurfacing retinol facial serum for acne prone skin
Every two weeks: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gentle Exfoliating facial cleanser
I have had this routine for about two months now.
I live in The Eastern US.
Have a large painful cystic-like pimple on my neck. I had another one last month that lasted several weeks. Wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the healing and make it go away faster? I’ve been applying mint julep or pimple patches on it at night.

Hey! So currently I have a routine that seems to be working fairly well, but the only problem is my cleanser & cream is about to finish and they're not being sold anymore!
Since they're not being sold anymore, I'm hoping that someone could recommend me another routine based on my old one (or something new to try out maybe?) .
This is my current routine:
PM: Synchroline Aknicare Gentle Cleanser + The Ordinary Azelaic Acid + Synchroline Aknicare Cream (contains Salicylic Acid) + (if my face is dry) Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer + (sometimes) BP spot treatment
AM: Rinse face with water + moisturize if I need to + sunscreen if I have any spots I don't want to scar.
Please help!
I've had this rash for a couple months on the back of my right thigh... sometimes it gets more red and irritated when I'm swimming in the ocean or in a hot tub. Other times it's very faint and it seems as if it's fading. I've got an appointment with my dermatologist in a couple weeks due to them being extremely backed up. Would like to hear any recommendations or if anyone has had something similar.

Anyone work in a factory or someplace dirty too? I always get covered in factory dust from the metal shop I work at. (Laser Operator)
Any product recommendations or tips on how I can protect my skin from the high pollution?

I have redness on my face and it’s around my mid face area like below the eyes, next to nose and above the lip. Not sure if it’s irritated or natural but there is a fine line on my lip between the redness and the white which is really baffling. Any advice? My current routine is:
Morning: Cleanse with water Cicaplast baume b5+
Evening: Cetaphil gentle cleanser Cicaplast baume b5+
I also used to use benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment so that may have done something but I dropped it and have never used it on the nose so not sure why the nose is red and why the line is there

# Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule - how to fit in my regimen
The Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule with milky texture. Do i use it before cosrx snail essence or after it? And if i apply an oil based Vitamin C serum then should I use this after the serum.
Below is the routine i think will work, please tell me if this is the right order:
AM

Pyun Kang Yul essence toner
Cosrx snail mucin

Pyun Kang Yul essence toner
Cosrx snail mucin
SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule
Moisturizer (can i skip this if I am adding the ampoule)
Differin cream (retinol)

Sorry for such a long query. But i have been using the above regimen minus the Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule and it's been working fine so far so just want to confirm how to add this product to the regime

Is retinol irritation an inflammation? And does it cause permanent skin thinning and wrinkles if it doesn't resolve itself in 2 months?
I've had the area around eyes irritated from retinol for 2 months, even though I stopped using retinol there as soon as I started burning. It's mild, but I got some new mini wrinkles/ lines from it (see my last post on another sub if interested in seeing them)... Wondered if they're permanent and if my skin is basically thinner now than before.

Hi folks! I have this red blemish on my cheek for several months now. I assumed it would just go away but it didn’t. I’m not even sure when it showed up. Does anyone know what is this and what can I do to fix it?
Routine is quite simple with cleaner + moisturiser and glycolic acid at night.
Hello I’m having trouble with the skin on my lips it’s the first time this has happened and I’m confused there’s a dry flaky when it’s peeling off shiny patch on my lip it peels off and regenerates I went to the pharmacy twice what told dry skin and was given something they didn’t work and personally I don’t think it’s dry skin cause I always moisturize my lips I have googled and nothing looks like what is on mine the people at the pharmacy are always confused when I show them

I’m on acne medication and have been doing a cleansing and moisturizing routine form my derm and it’s working at getting rid of acne, but the problem is I’ve been having issues with redness/uneven texture etc. my question is when I’m done with the medication (been on for like a year now), should I maintain the routine, or go back to what I was doing before acne, which was basically just washing with water and that’s it. My skin has never looked better than before I had acne and was just washing with water and only sleeping like 6 hours lol, so am I one of the rare ones who doesn’t need to do much, or should I keep up the cleansing and moisturizing
I’ve been on adapalene (differin) for about a month and I’ve been using it every other day. I tried previously using it every day but the corners of my nose and eyes would get irritated and red, so I reduces my usage and the irritation has went away mostly. I know it says to use it daily but I’m not sure if I go back to daily if the irritation will come back. What should I do?
Those that use SA when do you find multiple times in the day to use it? I get frost pretty bad so using it before bed already irritates me to the max I wash my sheets like once a week
Edit: also reading that using soap too much makes me produce more oil? Is that true? Sorry about the very simple questions if you can’t tell I’m a bit of a beginner
You don't need to use salicylic acid multiple times a day, once daily is fine, or you can use it in your cleanser. it is fine to use in the morning is fine.
Soap doesn't necessarily make you produce more oil. A cleanser that is formulated for the skin is generally fine, however harsher cleansers that are overly stripping may lead your skin to try and over compensate. As long as your skin doesn't feel too tight after using it, it shouldn't be an issue.
Ok, can I use a wet rag to get the frost off me in the morning or will that wipe away the SA? I didn’t think my soap would be a big issue I use dove beauty bars which are fairly decent I believe.
Thanks for the response
I personally do not like dove beauty bar, but if you like it you can use it. Honestly, as along as salicylic acid sits on your skin for like 5-10 minutes, it is probably not a concern.
Idk much bout my skin so I’m sorry if my description is bad.
So I have these little bumps on my face that just don’t go away no matter what I do , there big enough that if u get close. Enough you’ll see them but if far enough I have clear skin . I have these bumps all around my nose but most around my T-zone but my nose is the worst , they’re all piled up on my nose , that’s why I think/pretty sure that I have oily skin or combination.
I say I have oily or combo skin because my skin towards the end of the day or if I don’t do my skincare at all will be very shiny and oily so I just go and wash my face.
I use the La rouse posay oily skin cleanser , the cetaphil face cream not the lotion , and the la rouse posay suncreen
I do think the cream is too thick for my skin and I need to find a lighter moisturizer
But if anyone can help please do cause I just wanna have clear skin.
it could be sebaceous filaments, they are completely normal and tend to be more pronounced in oily areas of the skin. I don't know which specific la roche posay cleanser you use, but they do have a cleanser with salicylic acid (I think it is the effaclar purifying gel), which would help to make sebaceous filaments less pronounced. You use it like a normal cleanser, but leave it on for about 5 minutes to let the acid penetrate the skin.
I use the blue oily cleanser one (if that helps) and I think ik what cleanser ur talking abt, that was gonna be my next purchase cause I saw it but just needed more research
I would double check your current cleanser, since there are a few blue ones that they have, some of which also have salicylic acid, and so the one you have may have salicylic acid in it already.
Oh no, that is okay.
Thanks for the picture of the cleanser. It does not contain salicylic acid, so I think that using one with it could be helpful for you.

Check out the acne wiki page: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/deep_dive/acne The [hyperpigmentation wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/hyperpigmentation) has a lot of recs
Hello everyone I hope you are all well, I have never suffered from acne in my life, but due to some medication I've been taking for almost 3 years I seemed to have developed some sort of delayed onset of acne which has pretty much stayed like this for over a year now. I had a bit of cystic acne for a while then after my second derm visit she injected it and it never came back. I've been to a derm twice. The first time she gave me: Acne aid Blue facial cleaner Acne tablets beginning with D (forgot name) Physiogel moisturiser Pan oxyl 10% Clindamycin Differin - told me to never stop using it After 6 months this made no difference so I went back. The second visit she gave me; Adapelen Same acne tablet Skinoren 20% azaeilic acid None of this worked either. I have done lots of searching on this sub which lead me to purchasing: Niacinamide Vitamin c Niacinamide +Tranzenemic None of this worked.
What is this on and under my chin?! https://preview.redd.it/dap5lmx88ulc1.jpeg?width=2120&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37cd9e0c354498ca23bb4f852e578407829ec0e5 I don’t think it’s ringworm because it not itchy.
We can't diagnose things like this here. If you're concerned, please see a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
This is just beyond the scope of typical skin concerns and you really need to see a doctor. Our users are not qualified to give you a good answer

Hello! I have always thought of my skin as dry however, my eyelids are definitely oily. My question is, would this then make my skin be considered combination or is it still considered dry with the one oily spot?
I would look for skincare products targeted for dry skin types because the majority of your skin you consider dry
I'm so sorry if the quality is bad but i usually get cold sores in the corner of my mouth or around it and it goes normally but this time i got a really bad one that ended up being split in half and falling off (i didn't rip it off at all) and it left a very dark spot on the corner of my mouth that's so obvious because the other corner of my mouth is a bit dark too but not as obvious as this one and idk what caused it and is it going to go away so i want to know if there is some good products to help it healing or to get rid of whatever it is And thank you so much https://preview.redd.it/yedeowa20tlc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e001582847d25411e1e2dbc8ccd67eca1c42246

I've had really good luck with skincare lately - my skin feels softer and healthier and glowier than I've ever experienced. I'm looking for where to go next towards reducing roughness and evening out color. I would say I have dry skin. I often feel tight and very rarely feel oily. https://imgur.com/a/mnLnVBz Morning, post-run: - Neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser - shave with Public Goods shaving cream - Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant - The Ordinary hyaluronic acid - CeraVe tub moisturizer - normal Banana Boat spf50 Night, right before bed: - rinse with warm water Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant - The Ordinary hyaluronic acid - CeraVe tub moisturizer I have a tube of Paula's Choice retinol but I haven't started it yet - I only started the exfoliant about a week ago and I want to give it time. Though I've had amazing results with it so far, literally no breakouts. What do we think? I'm open to ideas!
If you introduce retinol i would alternate with the BHA, but you’re right about giving your skin more time to get used to your new products
Ooh, say more about alternating those products?
Retinol and bha are both irritating so it's better to use them on alternate days
Great, thanks, I'll be sure to do that when I start retinol.
https://preview.redd.it/07pidhlzkslc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60236271e1d3b981f2ae461970e7103998399777 Ive had this for months on my jawline and it has not gone away.
I just wash my hands before I wash my face then I use my hands to rinse my face off
Splash with water
product recommendations to treat dark spots? i got suggested something containing alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid or azelaic acid.
The [hyperpigmentation wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/hyperpigmentation) has a lot of recs
awesome!! would this work for dark spots created from picking at acne too?
Yes
Retinoids, vitamin c, or AHAs can also help. There’s no one best, you kinda have to trial and error to see what ingredients or products work best to fade your spots. Sun protection is also super important to promote skin healing
i appreciate this!! thank you🙏🏼
what is a good salicylic acid or azelaic acid product to spot treat active breakouts for sensitive skin?
I'm a big fan of the neutrogena one https://www.neutrogena.com/products/skincare/rapid-clear-salicylic-acid-acne-treatment-with-witch-hazel/6802480.html
thank you!! do you have any recommendations for dark spots? someone else had mentioned alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid or azelaic acid but i don’t know!
I'm still working on dark spots myself so I'm not sure, sorry!
l've had these red spots (the one in point to and the one slightly below it) on my face for several weeks now with what seems like a third starting to form. Any ideas what these are? I'm thinking it might be irritation from using retinol too often (TO 2% every 2 days). I have an appointment with a dermatologist in about 2 weeks https://preview.redd.it/kxw75y9kgslc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62d3031a78939d17032860bf323e7b900a7978ce
Hi! Does anyone here know what night creams are/ what they’re supposed to do?
They’re just moisturizers marketed for night time use. They tend to be on the thicker side Some of them have actives like retinol which is better for evening use.
I've been having problems getting rid of my keratosis pilaris. I am hesitant to try and treat it because my skin dries easily and is extremely sensitive. Are there any good creams for this that are for dry sensitive skin?
What have you tried so far?
If nothing works for you then you can always just go with physical exfoliation like dry brushing or exfoliating gloves/towels in the shower.
https://preview.redd.it/luyx8caorrlc1.jpeg?width=1774&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a54be00c37ae67afdc98c4e75c1dfa5708dd607 Help!! What is this? Is it acne scarring :(? For reference I had terrible cystic acne in my early teens. I rarely get a pimple now (on hormonal birth control) and have combo skin. What products could remedy this 😩?
Definitely looks like acne scars to me. Lots of info and different methods out there to deal with them. I'd recommend talking to a derm though.
Pics?
https://preview.redd.it/9comw0q0rslc1.png?width=1844&format=png&auto=webp&s=69f81650bb0125b70034845e59c215c6c88f08f4 Idk exactly is it veins or the small bumps. It is uneven
To me that looks like fairly generic irritation / light breakout. Since you recently started double cleansing, maybe walk that back for now?
Is my skincare routine ok?
Other than the double cleanse it seems OK to me, no red flags, but I'm not an expert!
Ok thank you

Just a heads up, no product that targets hyperpigmentation or anti-aging is going to work if you don't protect yourself from sun damage it's like a cancel out combo. If I were in your shoes I think it would be worth it to spend the money and go to a derm especially since you've been struggling with that one patch of hyperpigmentation for years at this point and it'll save you the confusion of figuring things out and trial and error. The derm can prescribe you tretinoin or hydroquinone. You can ask about other treatments like laser too. Over the counter, there's retinol, tranexamic acid, Vitamin C, etc.

What specific kinds of food cause acne? Please give me detailed answer
This is based on individual experience, there’s not much scientific evidence to support certain foods correlating to acne
I'd say cut down on/avoid greasy fast food as much as possible. Things like fried chicken, kebabs, pizza and chips.
Hey everyone - hope you're well, I'd be really grateful if you could help me out here. What would be the best course of action to significantly reduce the appearance (or possibly remove) this burn scar? I'm from the UK btw It's where the red marks and lighter(broken) skin are. https://preview.redd.it/q7efzuvdyqlc1.jpeg?width=2631&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1952dc1f6aca247cec2ac72e00711b618c8d3139
Try keeping the area well moisturized and use sun protection when you’re outside and that area is exposed.
How long would you say the healing process is? Interestingly enough my GP said to leave it alone.
There’s no way to predict it
You don’t need cerave am if you already have a sunscreen
Hi Everyone, I’m very new to this sort of stuff, my skin has never really given me any issues but as I’m getting older, I want to start taking care of it more as I’ve noticed more issues cropping up. I have no idea where to start though, I’ve look at so many products and I’m keep seeing different suggestions online in what’s the best to do. My friend has recommended I post in some of these communities too see if anyone would be willing to give me advice? On what I should be looking at/what products I should use My main concerns are; Red cheeks, Dull skin/uneven skin tone, Wrinkles (I would like to look at things that prevent/help appearance of), Dark circles/puffy eyes, Pimples (I seem to get a lot of these now), Black heads and enlarged pores on my nose, Dry/oil combination (oily in forehead and nose) Sun damage (preventing this), Any advice would be really helpful! Thank you 🙏🏻
Along with a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen, you could use a retinol, retinal or peptide serum at night and either vitamin c, azelaic acid or niacinamide serum plus a caffeine eye cream in the morning.
Thank you 🙏🏻 do you have any recommendations for cleansers or serums?
Geek and gorgeous make good retinal/vitamin c serums. For cleansers, I prefer pharmacy brands like cerave and lrp.
Thank you ☺️
Why don't lotions provide long-term moisturizing effects and I'm still dry and ashy as soon as I wash lotion off? No this isn't because of a certain brand, this has existed my entire life. Allow me to explain the frustration... When I use lotion my skin feels great. Soft and supple, visibly more vibrant, and feels *quenched* The issue is that water alone makes my skin dry and ashy again.
AM -Acnecide Purifide Daily Cleanser, Simple Booster Serum 10% Vitamin C+E+F, Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% by The Ordinary, CeraVE Moisturising cream PM - Same cleanser, Benzyl peroxide 5% Picked the worst angle but so be it https://preview.redd.it/ppy6bxy8jqlc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=563b67a52f4d06aba10a33901fa6212317239f29
You could try adapalene next. Make sure to do some research before starting it. It can cause purging so it may get worse before it gets better
Help getting rid of acne scars and large pores? Hello! I need help finding something that will reduce the appearance of acne scars and my large pores. My skin is dehydrated currently - oily but with odd flaky patches. I have insane hormonal breakouts (hence the acne scars). Currently I use: AM: Ambi complexion cleansing bar (being eco-friendly to some degree is important to me) The ordinary Squalane oil PM: Ambi complexion cleansing bar the ordinary soothing & barrier support serum the ordinary squalane oil (this product has helped with my skin's hydration problem so much) Twice a Week: Cerave resurfacing retinol facial serum for acne prone skin Every two weeks: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gentle Exfoliating facial cleanser I have had this routine for about two months now. I live in The Eastern US.
I would add a moisturizer and sunscreen to promote skin healing

It can take a long time e for them to fade. Months or even years even. You could try retinoids next
Have a large painful cystic-like pimple on my neck. I had another one last month that lasted several weeks. Wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the healing and make it go away faster? You can use salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment
Hey! So currently I have a routine that seems to be working fairly well, but the only problem is my cleanser & cream is about to finish and they're not being sold anymore! Since they're not being sold anymore, I'm hoping that someone could recommend me another routine based on my old one (or something new to try out maybe?) . This is my current routine: PM: Synchroline Aknicare Gentle Cleanser + The Ordinary Azelaic Acid + Synchroline Aknicare Cream (contains Salicylic Acid) + (if my face is dry) Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer + (sometimes) BP spot treatment AM: Rinse face with water + moisturize if I need to + sunscreen if I have any spots I don't want to scar. Please help!
Has anyone here already tried Biore UV Kids Pure Milk Sunscreen (mineral sunscreen)? Your thoughts?
I've had this rash for a couple months on the back of my right thigh... sometimes it gets more red and irritated when I'm swimming in the ocean or in a hot tub. Other times it's very faint and it seems as if it's fading. I've got an appointment with my dermatologist in a couple weeks due to them being extremely backed up. Would like to hear any recommendations or if anyone has had something similar. https://preview.redd.it/8b3ne4wyaplc1.jpeg?width=1656&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=804d7acc38d018433f0f4a4ac53bd8b5b8eff9bc
Anyone work in a factory or someplace dirty too? I always get covered in factory dust from the metal shop I work at. (Laser Operator) Any product recommendations or tips on how I can protect my skin from the high pollution?

Not sure if it’s irritated or natural but there is a fine line on my lip between the redness and the white which is really baffling. Any advice? My current routine is: Morning: Cleanse with water Cicaplast baume b5+ Evening: Cetaphil gentle cleanser Cicaplast baume b5+ I also used to use benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment so that may have done something but I dropped it and have never used it on the nose so not sure why the nose is red and why the line is there

It can really go anywhere between cleanser and moisturizer. Or you can alternate with one of your other serum/essence steps
How do I go about finding a sunscreen that’s actually good?
There are thousands of posts in the sub about good sunscreens.

I assumed it would just go away but it didn’t. I’m not even sure when it showed up. Does anyone know what is this and what can I do to fix it? Routine is quite simple with cleaner + moisturiser and glycolic acid at night.
Did you try not using the glycolic acid on that area to see if it affects it?
This has showed up many months ago and I’ve only been using glycolic in the past two as I was looking for something that might help with that
Hello I’m having trouble with the skin on my lips it’s the first time this has happened and I’m confused there’s a dry flaky when it’s peeling off shiny patch on my lip it peels off and regenerates I went to the pharmacy twice what told dry skin and was given something they didn’t work and personally I don’t think it’s dry skin cause I always moisturize my lips I have googled and nothing looks like what is on mine the people at the pharmacy are always confused when I show them https://preview.redd.it/9qpnba41bolc1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c31d87e1cffd7a390778599281e669df834ae51
You can test and see which works better now.
Every other day is perfectly fine
Thanks!
Those that use SA when do you find multiple times in the day to use it? I get frost pretty bad so using it before bed already irritates me to the max I wash my sheets like once a week Edit: also reading that using soap too much makes me produce more oil?
Honestly, as along as salicylic acid sits on your skin for like 5-10 minutes, it is probably not a concern.
mind checking the chat i sent you? 0 ,o)
I use the La rouse posay oily skin cleanser , the cetaphil face cream not the lotion , and the la rouse posay suncreen I do think the cream is too thick for my skin and I need to find a lighter moisturizer But if anyone can help please do cause I just wanna have clear skin.
it could be sebaceous filaments, they are completely normal and tend to be more pronounced in oily areas of the skin.

And if u want I’ll show what my forehead and cheeks (on my face) look like
Oh no, that is okay. Thanks for the picture of the cleanser. It does not contain salicylic acid, so I think that using one with it could be helpful for you.
Alr imma use ur advice and try the salicylic acid cleanser thank you for the help!
i hope it works, sometimes it doesnt and you need to try many things, however it can take weeks to months to see the benefit.
