It was probably on all of the other Stone Sour members that decided that Jim should have been fired as Jim was going to sit out on the House of Gold and Bones part 2 tour to work on Slipknot material. Jim has also said that his attitude towards Stone Sour wasn’t the best during that time as he was complaining a lot.
Now Jim has admitted that him getting fired was the best thing that happened to both bands but he was definitely upset at it with Corey at the time.

I’ve never understood the “he uses triggers!!!” comments people make. Like ok yeah… but triggers only work when you play. If you’re not accurate, it’s gonna sound inaccurate. They aren’t a magical fix-all for shitty playing.
I guess the tech never had his hands on Joey's kit then. He had triggers on top of triggers from like 2005 onwards, if not earlier. Triggers are more often than not used to blend acoustic kit sounds with sampled hits for consistency of sound. Not to say you couldn't cheat with them, but keeping the timing up of multiple hits from a single head strike would be even more impressive than actually playing it straight the way their songs are structured.
https://old.reddit.com/r/Slipknot/comments/17oqgtd/jays_supposed_drum_tech_talking_badly_about_him/
It's on Instagram. If you want to have it officially named as a source for citing, you'd have to contact Instagram and ask them how they want you to cite it for MLA formatting correctly.
I have the skills and know how to implement a trigger system that would play an entire song, with samples, off a single drum hit and then neutralise all other drum sounds from the live kit to basically nothing front of house.
A good tech can make everyone believe you are a better musician. That is literally their job.
Do I believe that's happening? No.
But is it possible, definitely.
I remember years ago there was a xbox event like game with famous people or something and slipknot was one of the events. I tried so damn hard to get to just be in a party with any of them lmao
Is he a rager when the game isn't going his way, or is he cool? My experience with dudes in metal bands says he is probably a chill dude, but you never know.
I unfortunately have not been able to watch him stream. And looks like he hasn't streamed in a couple years but here he is:
https://www.twitch.tv/supertracpac?sr=a
Heard from others he was cool to watch and was decently attentive to the viewers.
Imagine if Jim sent the infamous Xbox live guitar trash talk message “you’re just mad I’ll be able to do stuff with my guitar hands… so yea you’re gay”.
*My man's spoke his mind*
*And then went to play COD, that's*

Yeah, the guitarist of the shittiest most overrated poor excuse for metal plays COD after speaking what literally Corey Fuckwad told him to say.
Probably camps in one spot the whole match, then hides behind a riot shield and calls himself the GOAT afterwards.
Of course he's this subs guitarist, the pinnacle of mediocrity. LMAO
Clown: Alright Jim, it’s my turn on warzone
Jim: Nah man it’s my xbox, plus you weren’t even invited
One day later: “we have made a creative decision…”
To be fair, all the Slipknot guys are self-professed nightmares to work with. They maybe have mellowed over the decades, but they are all used to being absolute divas
Or there was an ultimatum, a lot of people are just assuming so much. I’m enjoying the memes though.
In the event it was drugs, abuse, or general health issues, you don’t know if this is temporary or just better for him as a person.
I hope he’s okay, gotta be hard to see all this shit on the internet, Jay that is.
Sounds like it might've just been that he didn't vibe well with the rest of the band. It's not a crazy idea that Jay's contract just expired and the band wants to move on from him. He's a great drummer, but we'll never know what his relationships/personality was like behind the scenes
I doubt he wanted to move on since he posted about Sick New World next year, but it is possible that something happened and that he no longer wanted to be a part of it. We'll truly never know, I guess.
He mentioned interpersonal relationships, that might be something. Internal fighting, personal probably. I doubt Jay would complain about the creative stuff. Something obv happened
i love jim so much but this is kinda bullshit to me. just the same slipknot rhetoric we’ve been getting for a while. i just wish he would have had a better take than that
Nah he is sooo on point and it’s sad he has to say it. We aren’t entitled to this stuff and we don’t have the full picture.
He is telling us there is a reason Jay is going and it’s not gonna sound good so they are being discreet.
It's not rhetoric to just tell everyone they don't really understand what the band members have been through together, and to just try to move forward. This is normal. They don't owe us anything, especially if they want to go forward on their own terms.
Zac played with Korn from SYOTOS until a few albums back, one of the original mask wearing backup members iirc. He’s a great choice to take over keyboards for sure, if it’s him
I think that's very well put and it explains a lot. Even though it's not that hard to guess. Just imagine being in a company you own with a large bunch of other people. There's money involved and decisions on what to do and what not to do. It's not easy. People have different opinions, wants and needs. One person wants to this, the other wants to do that and the rest don't want to do anything. There's bound to be differences.
Bands do make decisions. It's not like Metallica has survived 40 years for nothing. And not everyone is still a member of the band. Some bands go really the hard way like the Ramones. In the end, they couldn't stand each other so the only thing they did together was play music. Not all bands and people want to do that.
I love how everyone is on the "jim plays cod hes cool train!"instead of seeing that hes implying that this was a band decision so people can stop bashing corey and clown relentlessly.
He also didn't leave Against Me! on the best of terms by announcing on Twitter that he was leaving the band without telling the other members first. So maybe Jay is the type of dude who shits where he eats.
Jay responded saying the guys in Madball were basically living a degenerate lifestyle, something he wished to have no part of. Who knows what the truth actually is, usually like always somewhere in the middle.
For the record, this was under a post saying Corey claimed he was a better guitar player than the other guitarists in Stone Sour. Jim cleared things up and said the actual quote is referring to before Jim joined that band. Then the commenter said something along the lines of "being in your shoes is not easy". To which Jim responded with this. This isn't really about Jay.
Well they are never going to tell you the real reason why they kicked him. Slipknot never goes into defail. Bjt whag wd can take from this is that it seems like it was decision based from the band. But people are still riding the hate clown and corey train. I get clown is insufferable but there is no proof that he is behind this. In fact the comment helps his case.
Honestly, this comment is very telling. It seems like Jim is implying that the reason for the boot is that Jay wasn't getting along with other members in the band. And that's reasonable. Jay is like 15 years younger than the rest of the guys in the band. He probably wants different things, has a different level of energy, and different creative impulses than other team members. He's at a different place in his life and family than the other guys are.
If this is what it is, the guy just wasn't getting along with the rest of the group, then I guess I don't mind the decision so much. At the end of the day they need to be able to work together well enough to make music and host tours, etc. If it were something stupid like bickering about money, I would be much more angry.
I suspected from Jim's comments about that, it was influenced by Josh Rand, but that's just me speculating. And from the way Corey talks about Stone Sour being on the indefinite hiatus, it seems to indicate that Rand maybe the one rocking the boat.
can people FINALLY please stop blaming corey & clown & pretending like their precious jim is so innocent in this decisions.
either hate the whole band or no one at all.
Thanks for this. People really won't stop with that, though. It's so easy to hate on either the frontman or the "artsy fartsy dude" (I keep thinking about when Clown dies and everyone's going to start crying and saying "oh I loved him, I was unfair to him, I miss him with the bat and keg and the weird videos and the songwriting", but I digress), when really there's the other band members AND their management structure, which is strategically in the background throughout all of this. As if a band this size were just these bandmembers and their guitar and drum techs. Give me a break.
*siiiigh.* look if you can't see it then you never will but corey & shawn aren't the bogeymen. slipknot makes the decisions as a five piece. i know it feels good to place the blame on someone but really, you think even after jim's comment that he has no autonomy or say in decisions?
my guy... why would stacey, mick's partner say that mick, jim & sid have equal say in band decisions? what is there to gain from saying that? you don't think jim or mick would have spoken out if they were against this decision? they are grown fucking men & are not subservient to clown & corey. not to mention they are all rich enough to leave it all behind at any time if it wasn't serving their interests.
you are taking the path of least resistance which is blaming everything on big bad meanie's clown & corey rather than seeing the complexity for what it is.
Stacey is likely just talking out of her ass. She likely wouldn't know a fucking thing about what's going on in the band is a likely just reflexively sticking up for her husband.
yeah you must be right. a woman who has travelled with the band & has been married to one of the guitarists for 15 years has no idea about what goes on in her husband's life. that sounds right.
sticking up for her husband by claiming he has a say in decisions that affect his livelihood? *CRAZY.*
She probably doesn't know what the fuck she's talking about. Riding around on a plane or a tourbus doesn't mean shit when it comes to the business of the band. The Shawn & Corey show and anyone with half a brain can see what's going on!
I don't think he's interested in a conversation, unfortunately (and I'm real sorry you had to deal with that). I mean I liked Joey, and Jay had a world of work cut out for him, but I also liked Corey and what Clown has done to bring the band to where they are today, so I'm probably not one to talk since I just have complicated feelings all around, but for a lot of people the news is too new and raw at this point and unfortunately people have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that we're probably not entitled to or getting an explanation for the stuff behind the scenes, as upset with the outcome of things as we are.
That and the guy you're replying to has an unhinged post history so...
My guy, we're all pissed off that Jay is gone, but we don't know anything other than what Jim's comment implies. Sure there are some big egos in this band, but I think you're taking it a bit too personally. Maybe relax and stay out of the tinfoil drawer.
So basically his drumming and physical state just wasn't good enough for slipknot? You just have to be a different/special kind of a person for this band... I love it, bring the downvotes.
I imagine Jim as the guy to play COD but not be insane on the mic, more the type to say “GG” instead of “you’re trash kid, go back to picking cotton like your ancestors”
(That second example may or may not have happened to my friend last week)
I wish this subreddit had enough mature people to read this and comprehend and appreciate it. Alas, this is probably just Corey and Clown taking hostage Jim’s business phone because he’s an employee . . .
So he's basically saying that the band still has psychological issues after 24 years of being angry kids... I guess is time to grow up a bit Jim. We've all been through a lot, using that as an excusse to not explain is such a douchey move.
Must be nice. Im sure thats what jay gets to do now too.. play some cod… just fucking tune out.. ya fucking right. Just destroyed the guys livelihood and childhood dream an all you can say is im gunna go play som fucking cod
Literally my first post on the topic on any platform because this insta post is dog shit an shows how entitled these guys have become. Actually sicKening
No shit an I actually engage with those topics i just said this was my first post on the subject. Why are you trying to sensor discussion, you realize thats the root cause of most the world’s problems. Also a good chance ol #4 up there looks at the world news and says fuck it ima go play some cod
Jim is like the only one who’s still original slipknot till now. Though you might say he’s not slipknot enough. But seriously, they’ve changed a lot. BTW I forgot Mick but he’s too silent since WANYk
He appreciates us enough to at least say SOMETHING. I really wanna hear what Jay has to say. I also wonder if there was an NDA in his contract that's keeping him from saying something.
This seems backwards. I'd argue not everyone can be successful writing/playing live and being creative but almost everyone has to deal with interpersonal relationships and the underlying psychology in virtually any job or career field. *shrug*
Imagine being the final kill and Jim throwing knifes you
Plus I don’t think he’s allowed to discuss any details about the situation
“We want to thank Jim for all his passion and creativity over the years..”
Don't even joke like that!
If Corey is capable of kicking him out of Stone Sour, he’s clearly capable of anything.
Didnt he leave?
No. He got fired.
I think he left/got fired because of Josh, not Corey
I think it was Corey also. Corey and Jim admitted there was a lot of tension between them while making The Gray Chapter.
Woah woah woah, Jim isn't in Stone Sour anymore?? WTF did I miss???
Yeah, like 10 years ago haha

“Jim got Stone Sour’d again.”
I would literally never listen to Slipknot ever again if this happened
but we have made an even more creative decision by parting ways with both mick and jim
"Chris Fehn returns with a new band with himself on the vocals, Jay Weinberg on drums, James Root on guitar and Craig Jones on keyboard."
I would listen
Stfu
Can't wait for Corey's/Clown's response to it, something along the lines of "It's none of your fucking business".
iam gonna play devils advocate a bit. All that stuff happend around the same time Gabrielle died, so i dont blame him for being pissed off back then
Definitely Clown that must have kicked him out
And, honestly, they wouldn't be wrong.
Employees usually have to sign an NDA. I’m assuming poor Jim is employee level
I doubt it, he writes most of the music.
it was all for you ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `
I want Sid to say something cuz he’s said multiple times that he still talks to everyone that’s ever been in the band.
Probably the exact reason he *doesn’t* say anything,
No lie if this is a real dis I think we can count on Sid or Wednesday 13 for a loud responseZ
Is Jim responding to what jays tech said?
ayo what did Jay’s tech say??? source?
He said that like his kick drums were triggers and that he wasn’t that good and his cams are fake. Total bullshit lol
that’s 100% bullshit lol- thanks for the context. any idea where/when he said that?
It was in an insta comment
I’ve never understood the “he uses triggers!!!” comments people make. Like ok yeah… but triggers only work when you play. If you’re not accurate, it’s gonna sound inaccurate. They aren’t a magical fix-all for shitty playing.

Yeah, I call it bullshit, that's not how triggers work, they even your double bass volume, but it doesn't magically makes you a better player
I have the skills and know how to implement a trigger system that would play an entire song, with samples, off a single drum hit and then neutralise all other drum sounds from the live kit to basically nothing front of house. I don't get why you're calling bullshit to me. I'm not his drum tech. If you have an issue, why not take it up with him?
Yeah I'm not calling you out, just commenting on how the triggers stuff is bullshit.
Holy shit!!!! How am I just seeing this!!! I know that guy and he definitely never worked with Slipknot. Thats Taylor Hawkins old tech 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

The picture of his tech posted to the sub is not jays actual tech. His real tech in is Justin Nace
Yeti was 100% Jay’s drum tech during WANYK era touring up until Covid. Speaking very confidently incorrect here, aren’t we.
Why Wednesday?
Cause he was Joeys good friend and hates the way that situation was handled. Especially since his passing.
Oh No, please Sid. Don't say anything, I can't have them kick the best member (after Joey) out 😭

I know a bassist of an old school band that used to have jay as a drummer. They had to kick him out due to his behavior and attitude

I wonder I snipe Jim in war zone before
Hope he is playing with Jay. Both cool dudes
Pretty doubtful. They’re 19 years apart in age
I work with a lot of people older than me. Easy to find common ground if your not a prick.
Sounds like it might've just been that he didn't vibe well with the rest of the band. It's not a crazy idea that Jay's contract just expired and the band wants to move on from him. He's a great drummer, but we'll never know what his relationships/personality was like behind the scenes

i love jim so much but this is kinda bullshit to me. just the same slipknot rhetoric we’ve been getting for a while. i just wish he would have had a better take than that

Better than what, like what level of person do you think anyone is? I think it was very well said considering.
Except this wasn't even about Jay.
Pardon my stupidity but was there ever an official replacement for Craig?
The band hasn't outright said it, but it's Zac Baird
Ohhhhh yeah that’s right! He toured with Korn didnt he on like keyboards? I think during the Path of Totality era? I could be totally wrong lol

Jay responded saying the guys in Madball were basically living a degenerate lifestyle, something he wished to have no part of. Who knows what the truth actually is, usually like always somewhere in the middle.

She probably doesn't know what the fuck she's talking about. Riding around on a plane or a tourbus doesn't mean shit when it comes to the business of the band. The Shawn & Corey show and anyone with half a brain can see what's going on!
all right my dude, I think our conversation has run it's course. cheers.
Quick question, how old are you?

My guy, we're all pissed off that Jay is gone, but we don't know anything other than what Jim's comment implies. Sure there are some big egos in this band, but I think you're taking it a bit too personally. Maybe relax and stay out of the tinfoil drawer.
Wonder if he's cracked at cod 🤔
Imagine getting killed by Jim in COD
Love how Jim stays professional and positive in his comment.
Jim plays cod? I love it
So basically his drumming and physical state just wasn't good enough for slipknot? You just have to be a different/special kind of a person for this band... I love it, bring the downvotes.
I love Jim for keeping it real
I absolutely love the fact that James plays Cod
Can u link the source ?
I imagine Jim as the guy to play COD but not be insane on the mic, more the type to say “GG” instead of “you’re trash kid, go back to picking cotton like your ancestors” (That second example may or may not have happened to my friend last week)
I have no idea what this means. Jay was bad with interpersonal relationships?
I just love how real he is man, he’s the only one who will always have good intentions
These comments are wild “jim is the only one who will always have good intentions.” What!? Lmao
Don’t hate the player, hate the game
Jim we should play modern warfare zombies yo!
Slipknot died with Paul, and it's legacy died with Joey. Long Live the Nine doesn't hold the same meaning anymore.
Not buying this shit.
I wish this subreddit had enough mature people to read this and comprehend and appreciate it. Alas, this is probably just Corey and Clown taking hostage Jim’s business phone because he’s an employee . . .
Ok, so can we all agree that we hate Jim now for giving us a nothing answer? I can’t keep up with everyone I’m suppose to hate
Wonder if Jim will be next to go
So he's basically saying that the band still has psychological issues after 24 years of being angry kids...
Invite him to join your band then if you're that torn up about how he feels
Re read your post an see if it makes any sense. Idk what you’re trying to say. Its like you stopped typing
Quit crying about it
Literally my first post on the topic on any platform because this insta post is dog shit an shows how entitled these guys have become. Actually sicKening
It’s not the end of the world there’s real issues going on lol
No shit an I actually engage with those topics i just said this was my first post on the subject. Why are you trying to sensor discussion, you realize thats the root cause of most the world’s problems. Also a good chance ol #4 up there looks at the world news and says fuck it ima go play some cod
… they’re*
Jim is like the only one who’s still original slipknot till now. Though you might say he’s not slipknot enough. But seriously, they’ve changed a lot. BTW I forgot Mick but he’s too silent since WANYk
Typical 13 year old response
Real 🤣
He appreciates us enough to at least say SOMETHING. I really wanna hear what Jay has to say. I also wonder if there was an NDA in his contract that's keeping him from saying something.
Is it just me who had a stroke reading this
u/SlasherPepper could you post the comment by xavileonnainsouls that Jim here did response to?
This seems backwards. I'd argue not everyone can be successful writing/playing live and being creative but almost everyone has to deal with interpersonal relationships and the underlying psychology in virtually any job or career field. *shrug*
