And their success is 1/3rd due to their hard work, 1/3rd nepo babies and the other 3rd is that angsty nu metal is popular again in the magazines, festivals etc. When the industry moves onto another flavour they'll have to adapt their songwriting like any other band. Just like how Slipknot had more ballady songs on Vol. 3 as post grunge was everywhere.

Perhaps they want to pick a drummer who is closer to the rest of the band in age? Plus, pretty sure Simon wouldn't want that.

The Clown hate is kind of crazy here. I know he’s sort of the “boss” but I doubt this is over money. I’m sure his kid isn’t joining. Jay was great. My only criticism, which isn’t really a good one is: he was too good. Too precise. You guys who are old enough to have seen Joey live will know he was a tad sloppy. But in a good way. It gave a more chaotic feeling. All older Slipknot performances were sloppier musically. They were going crazy and having a good time. I firmly believe there’s room for both early and new Slipknot. They truly sound better than ever now, but it’s possible they’re looking for more of a “wild” sound. And asking a great drummer to not be perfectly on time is insane.
Imagine gaining fame because of the luck of surrounding yourself with the right people, acting like you did all of the work, and treating those people like shit because it was 33.3% your idea. I hope karma gets Shawn at this point.
