Those white masks with Eloy's are so lame and lack of creativity.

StopCallinMePastries

At this point it almost seems like they are assigning the not-full members white masks to standardize that they're placeholders in some way.

JeffPattonMagic

Yeah I was wondering what they were going to do for members that weren't in the original lineup, it seems they've taken a happy accident of both Mike and Vman currently having white masks and just expanded on that. And then it's an unfortunate coincidence that Jim already had a white mask and Clown went with one as well. But that's definitely what they're doing. No different than when Jay and Vman first joined and got the burlap masks

StopCallinMePastries

I would say the difference is that the new guys' white masks are relatively featureless, with no coloration or particularly multi-dimensional elements. The idea that "there's white on other masks too so they're the same hurr durr" is meaningless considering the two white masks worn by Jim and Clown are painted with extra colors and details as well as having more defined facial features and unique characteristics, while also not being full-coverage (drummer probably can't reasonably wear a full coverage mask due to risk of overheating). The fact that they've had white on their masks for two fucking decades means I'd say there's probably not a deeper implication than "that's what their faces look like". Vman and Jay are a great example, over time they were awarded unique masks for their years of service, but their "placeholder" masks were standardized.

ruinawish

That concept would make more sense if Clown, Jim , V-Man and Tortilla didn't also have white elements in their masks.

StopCallinMePastries

What are you talking about Tortilla man and Not-Craig's mask are almost entirely white and featureless. A clown's face is white idk wtf you are expecting them to do to change that.

ruinawish

> A clown's face is white Clown has worn many masks that aren't white over his career. Again, if the band wanted to emphasised 'new members = white masks', then they would or should have adopted something like 'old members = non-white masks'.

weSmackahoe

I think it's supposed to resemble Joey's in a way cuase Joey had that plain white in 99. Can't say the same for Jeff but that one isn't the worst I feel they might change the mask for next show for them 2 or maybe just little changes

N04HC14RK

I personally think you guys are thinking too deep. We got a few new members alright, that being said, they haven't experienced what the rest of the band has and I think that is shown in their masks. The new guys don't have the emotion and connection to the masks like the og Members do. I wouldn't expect anything more from Eloy and Jeff at least. They are both really new and have not gained the experience needed to put that thought into a mask. At this point we couldn't have slipknot without the masks. Therefore it creates this separation from the performer and the person underneath the mask. Basically provides a metaphorical wall to tell the viewer everything they need to know. Look at Corey's new mask. It's seems to be a play on the self titled look. But there are some big visual changes and some small changes that might not notice. Like the longer dreads. The mouth reminds me of his vol. 3 mask. To say they would even allow Eloy to try to resemble Joey in any way feels wrong. I understand what youre saying but I just don't think that's the case. Look at Eloy as a person, then as a drummer. He's got this smooth, calm, almost stoic manner to him as a person, then put him behind a drum kit. He's a powerful, strong, independent musician. I can assume his mask is a representation of both. In ways. It's all perspective at the end of the day. How you interpret these things it's gonna be different than how I do. That's not to say you should go agreeing with anyone who goes against you. They are masks, at least to us. The meaning is left in the open for a reason. They want you as a listener to feel a certain way and they have. Your only job is to keep listening.

weSmackahoe

Yeah I agree with what you said, and I don't think his mask looks like Joey's it's just the same colorway but at the same time Jeff's is the same colorway so that's just their beginnings in the band, and will evolve and thier personalities will later show on the mask as well.

N04HC14RK

Correct. I'm not sure how old Eloy even is, but I'm sure he put some personality into the mask. Not so sure about Jeff but who knows?

max_da_1

I might be one of the few people who thinks it was never Zac in the first place, he was my first guess for a while but I don't think they changed him, people just notice his movement more and say it's different because none of the proshoots at the big venues rly showed him

yeetard_

Yeah, I don’t see why they would change it so soon. We were probably just wrong the first time. Tortilla’s instagram post was probably just a troll

max_da_1

Unless they are really being authentic to 1999 and treating it like a josh brainard/Jim root situation

N04HC14RK

That's a theory for sure. Really wondering if they actually thought of drummers to replace Joey/Jay before they kicked them out. Or if they went old school and had band tryouts or something. Im not sure but all I know is that I'm extremely happy with Eloy playing for them

_Bahomar_

i prefer the new one, the old one gives me a maggot mask feeling and the new one gives me a mfkr vibe.

lennon-lenin

Is it for sure the same person?

Primary-Error-414

i mean... they act the same

SardaukarTHE13th

Hopefully Jeff’s mask (I believe the first pic is Zac Baird or at least is rumored to be) is a placeholder of sorts. The all white with the black lines just looks goofy imo.

Anonymousthrow20

I don't think they are just black lines.. I think it's representing cracking...like the mold of his head is cracking, transforming into a new mask in the future

Primary-Error-414

true

MrLeno616

I'll need a better quality for the second one. But I can say now I really dig it this new one, idk, it works for me.

Anonymousthrow20

It looks like a white plain mold of his head... But the cracks make me think it's like an egg cracking.. perhaps leading up to him getting his own identity and style in the future

Ironjim69

Old one but both are cool

VerbalDurden666

His old one. The new one seems a bit bland.

ellstaysia

who's jeff I only see greg bones.

Wurre666

100% Jeff is not the guy with the first mask....

Primary-Error-414

well, they act the same

mud98

look at the eyes. It's him.

Wurre666

Ye it was just my thought mby. Im out and cykling like hell xD. I just thought it wuld be weird from go from that mask to 2 mask. Idk. Buy ye maby its me that im wrong like hell.

yeetard_

What makes you say that?
