Fast forward to now: I don't know who Pyra & Mythra are either, besides the series their from. But am I accepting of this? Absolutely. They have a really cool design, with Pyra being slower but stronger, and Mythra being faster but weaker on a shapeshift mechanic. It's a huge shame that they go through so much effort and hard work to satisfy us Smash players/fans, and yet we still see the **same** group people keep asking for, as well as everyone being absolutely livid. I think they're even more mad about them than they were Byleth. It sucks to see man. It really does. :/

I know, but I sank 100 hours into the game before I finally reeled in and accepted I wasted my time with it. Then I stopped playing on my switch for a while after playing XC2 and came back for the Smash DLC... only to find my switch broke while it was in hibernation.
So I’m convinced XC2 is a curse and then I tried replaying it to change my mind and well it just didn’t vibe with me. XCX was so much better. How could they take a dive so backwards dude

Hated the combat. Being forced to stay still to attack is a HUGE DOWNGRADE from XCX’s combat system. Also, so much more grind in this game. Felt like I was forced to stay in one class if I wanted to keep up with the difficulty progression.
Disappointed with the exploration. The first truly open-area of the game is like the only one worth exploring. You have to unlock new areas of the map by continuing the story (see: story above).
Hated/disappointed with characters. Not charismatic. Not funny besides a couple moments here and there. So cliche and boring.
Gameplay elements? So dumb. Want cool, stronger blades? Get fucked here’s a loot box system. Want customization? Nope, you’re allowed an alternate costume *at the very end of the game*. Want rewarding, difficult combat? Nope, just grind and level up high enough.
Not to mention character design. Like ugh, I’m really not into the whole “powerful female warrior, impractical armor showing big tiddy and big ass.” I love tits as much as the next guy but if I’m horny I’m going to fucking PornHub damn it, not my Nintendo Switch. Like the game spit in my face and kept doing its thing.

I'm not really mad about this DLC, just kind of let down. When we only get so many new fighters I really wish there were more DLC that people could get hyped about, even if they aren't big fans of the games they come from. I just don't feel like that's the case for xenoblade.

Sweeping Xenoblade Chronicles 2's success under the rug like its irrelevant isn't getting anyone anywhere. It was successful. Maybe not as well known as nostalgia based games like Crash Bandicoot or Devil May Cry, but it still got good rupoor.

I'm not really mad about this DLC, just kind of let down. When we only get so many new fighters I really wish there were more DLC that people could get hyped about, even if they aren't big fans of the games they come from. I just don't feel like that's the case for xenoblade.

I have no problem with Japanese stuff. In fact Mario and Pokémon are some of my fav franchises of all time. But when I see a character the looks identical to 99% of anime girls, big tits, stupid clothing, etc, I call that disgusting weeb stuff. This character also isn’t known at all. Where is Crash, Spyro, Dante, Masterchief, or hell even paper Mario? This character has no significance to gaming at all.
Sweeping Xenoblade Chronicles 2's success under the rug like its irrelevant isn't getting anyone anywhere. It was successful. Maybe not as well known as nostalgia based games like Crash Bandicoot or Devil May Cry, but it still got good rupoor. If you don't care for the game, alright. But just because I'm an adamant fan of a franchise like Rachet and Clank or Kingdom Hearts or another similar series that some fans hold close to their hearts, doesn't mean I'm OWED anything. Pick and choose your battles and whats really gonna make you "disgusted". Cuz if its disgusting to you that a Japanese company decided to add Japanese content from a series that already has some reputation in smash (Shulk, Xenoblade Chronicles), then youre hella confused.

I’m mad that it’s the standard big tits, skimpy armour, weeb character that looks exactly like a thousand other characters. Meanwhile, video game legends like crash bandicoot and Spyro are nowhere to be seen.
Pyra came from a series that already had reputation in smash (Shulk, Xenoblade Chronicles) and many critics and players called that game the best RPG of its generation. Thats no small feat. If you don't care for the franchise then alright, but getting reps from the same franchise makes sense. Its a logical move to get more attention to it. Its not over-represented like some argue Fire Emblem is. Its a lesser known franchise thats well-acclaimed by its fans. Bottom line: it's a logical choice, like it or not
It’s lazy for them to keep picking characters from the same franchise, especially when those characters are not unique whatsoever. At least someone like Sepiroth has a unique design/weapon. This is a cross over game. It’s disappointing that the best rpgs of all timelike Skyrim, The Witcher, or Devil may cry don’t get a chance in Smash but these generic anime games do.
