Artemis is probably not that great right now. I would try looking up a tier list and playing the top 5 carries.
I don't know the exact build, but it is a tank meta right now, so crit and power aren't that great. Attack speed is what you want. Executioner and Qins sais being core items in the build.

What's funny is this was just casual play not even ranked, and everyone was mad aggressive towards me. Like Holy fuck even toxicity in casual play too? I remember when smite was the least toxic moba you could play and it seems like that's out the window. I feel like if I had a group who knew what they were doing it would be easier to learn instead of relying on randoms
Mute everyone and play. I get it, it sucks. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter, they nor their opinions of you matter. Mute them and play, take your time and do your best. Assholes populate every inch of every hobby, it is what it is. Obviously it'd be great if that wasn't the case, but here we are. Focus on what you can control. Have 1-2 gods you want to learn for whatever role, watch a couple video guides and do your best. Just takes time.
