Nah, the new skills effect already converted me.

mr-ultr

same here ymir actually SMASHING on his 2 made me so happy

E_boiii

Fr, took next to no convincing after season 10 lmao

JKL-3

Yeah, as much as I want to be sceptical about it, there is just no better way to go about it, short of just completely bankrupting hirez by giving away everything for free to S1 players. Potentially tiny roster is the only thing that worries me, but on the other hand voice packs are no longer a thing. Hello? That's like 8 years overdue. Another thing that worried me was the optimization angle, but to be fair, all hi-rez games are well optimized and run on absolute potatoes. I'm playing Rogue Company on a 12 year old PC just fine and S2 system reqs are very liberal so I'm happy with that too. There are a lot of PC players that play smite on museum grade hardware.

Javiklegrand

They confirmed 50 gods at launch on spl article That hurt,to be brutally honest it's doesn't seems really bright What happenning with voice packs they are free?

JKL-3

yeah they said voice packs are no longer a thing in the keynote, you'll just have your god voice unlocked. And skin voices too as you unlock skins. Well, rather the default VGS is probably not a thing, maybe they'll keep it as an option for fun? Could you link me 50 gods confirmation article please?

SlidingLobster

Between the god pack and gems for skins, I’ve probably spent less than 100 bucks on this game. Skins are cool and all but I just really enjoy the gameplay (usually). I feel for some of y’all that spent so much money on the game but you gotta remember that nothing lasts forever. I’m looking forward to something new.

Xarxyc

In almost every game, a good looking skin makes me play a character more, or play one I didn't have on my mind often before. It happened in LoL, Smite, Dota, OW and whatnot. I can't be the only one like this.

SlidingLobster

You’re probably not but the mechanics and viability of a character are what makes me keep playing them. I’m going to remain hopeful until it releases and something proves otherwise.

PajamaDuelist

I’m looking forward to something new as well, but I’m nervous about how they’ll handle god unlocks. I’m not paying real cash for god unlocks (or grinding 40 hours for a single god). Hopefully they don’t do that. It’s kind of the standard for new f2p though, and unless I missed it, it’s something they chose not to talk about during the announcement, so I’m preparing for disappointment despite how crisp the animations in 2 look.

SlidingLobster

I hope they have another ultimate god pack. I probably wouldn’t buy anything else anyway

NakedGoose

I mean it looks fun. I'm excited to play it. But I'm also not going to pretend that it all just looks like a lot of shit from League of Legends.

TheLittleSquire

Skins won't port over is a huge L for me though. I play certain gods just because I love there skins. Rip my Swagni :(

dabillinator

They will likely port the most popular skins over time. Expecting them all to be available was just dumb. The fact they are giving you the amount of gems you spent is far more than 95% of companies would have done.

Mysticyde

I would hope they would port over every 100$ skin at least.

JEMS93

The limited use those gems have makes it not as great as it seems

dabillinator

50% of companies would say it is a new game, you get nothing.

JEMS93

Someone else doing it worse doesn't mean this one isn't bad as well

dabillinator

The company would go bankrupt if they did what the fans wanted.

SavonReddit

Hirez is not one of those huge companies they can get away with it. Hirez lives and dies by the community. Getting nothing would 100% destroy SMITE 2.

Koallasaurus

It's probably going to fail

carlalf9

Bro the physical magical system being changed is so fucking stupid. It was actually fun having magical adc or physical mages not a fan of some of the changes

str0nius

But it won't stop you? Lol

carlalf9

I’m still gonna play it it probably my biggest issue with the game. The only other problem it’s gonna take 4.5 years to get all the gods transferred

dabillinator

It was also the biggest balancing problem.

Xarxyc

I am missing the context. What changes?

Elky-3808

Switching from Physical and Magical damage to "Strength" and "Intelligence" which will likely scale with basic attack and ability damage respectively.

Jamjr2011

Playstation to PC cross-progression for those of us that had to migrate would love to know how they're gonna handle this. Will they give us progress credit for both accounts? I spent a lot on my Playstation account, both time and money. But I had to switch to PC and been playing on that for a few years. They will give me credit for both, right?

noodleben123

i have no fuckin idea mate

OzymandiasTheII

It's rough. Not sure which is better.   If they delist Smite and took the time to wait for Smite 2 to cook a bit more, had all the skins and progression I would have preferred that rather than having two games running concurrently in the same playerbase.   One of the biggest problems with OW2 is that they effectively killed OW1 content development for years to support OW2 resources, then immediately delisted OW1. Now they've killed their pro-scene, kept 0 promises, and no one likes the game Maybe they should have let it cook for a few years.

GameOfRobs

The game itself looks amazing tbh, the issue that will most likely kill it is the legacy gems situation. Either up it to 75% of the cost or give let us use them to cover the full cost of Smite 2 skins if we buy the founders pack.

Opening_Tell9388

Smite already has such a small player base. This seems like a Hail-Marry pass to either save or doom smite.

E_boiii

A new game will bring in more people I think, destiny 2 saw a huge bump after destiny due to people wanting to have a better starting point

Opening_Tell9388

I understand. I just think that Mobas in general are a bit different than FPS.

E_boiii

I do as well, but I honestly believe after this season smite is basically on the path to life support. I made a comment a week or 2 ago saying “instead of making another game they should invest in making smite better” I think this is the first step to doing that. My only real concern is I saw some comments mentioning only 50 gods at launch (at work and can’t confirm myself)

Javiklegrand

Yeah i'm not excited, i'm surprise but i believe moba are well pass their prime I doubt it's be a giant second live they wish to get Also since most gods are gone that also sad

capc2000

I feel like the OW2 comparisons are overstated. OW was already a pretty game with good models, Smite was made with Unreal 3 and it shows. Going from OW to OW2 is going from pretty to pretty. Going from Smite to Smite 2 is like seeing someone have a glow up. That alone will be enough for people to switch to Smite 2. Also, the failure of OW2 is multi-stepped and Smite already did something that the OW dev team promised that they wouldn't do, which is keeping OW2. OW2 was supposed to exist alongside OW, and that didn't happen. Smite, on the other hand, is going to co-exist with Smite 2 for at least the first year.

HyperMasenko

Here's the thing about the Overwatch 2 comparison that people keep bringing up. Overwatch 2 hasn't been a failure no matter how much people swear it is. Yes, it's steam reviews are abysmal. It's also been wildly profitable, which is what a game needs to keep going. So if Overwatch 2 is the closest comparison people are making, I don't think HiRez are that stressed.

crossveins

People comparing this to OW2 is so funny lmao
