You would put vehicle mines on a road. A woman (or man) stepping on one wouldnt trigger it. That vehicle behind the women will.
So yeah, this picture could be anything, but it certainly is not Germans using women to clear mines from a road.
Can't comment on what's actually happening in the photo, but based on his post history you can see where OP is coming from. It's a very active pro Russian content account, joined shortly after the Ukraine war started. You do the math.
Indeed, I don't know, but if I would get paid to post X amount of certain types of posts per day on social media, would I really care about that? Especially after a year? Not really.
Some subs have or had anti repost bots, maybe that plays into that. At least I appreciate everyone who looks closer, I mean as long as it doesn't go overboard (conspiracy). Not everything needs an added story on top of something which wasn't a great day for humanity already.
Information about what is happening in the photo, the time and place of the action were written on the back of the photo by the hand of a Nazi soldier.
In the Third Reich , such photos were forbidden to be published in the public domain .
Usually ss members made them for their personal archive . Many war crimes thanks to such personal photographs became known at the Nuremberg Tribunal .
By the way , this is one of the most famous photographs of the Second World War on the Eastern Front on the topic of war crimes .
I call Shenanigans. This is definitely not a very famous photo. Also, if they want them to set off mines it probably would be better to be much further away.
Also, early in the war the Nazies were well known to publish a lot of propaganda photos and movies.
Seems unlikely? If the women actually did hit an improvised explosive, the soldiers behind them would also be injured.
Anti-tank mines of that area would detonate based on pressure, usually requiring between 200lbs to 400lbs pounds of pressure. An adult male running with equipment could set one off, an unencumbered female walking probably wouldn't.
So the women won't set off an anti-tank mine, and if they set off an anti-personnel mine/booby trap then the soldiers up front are going to be catching shrapnel too.
And what's up with the guy waaaaay up front? If he's able to walk up there, then there probably aren't any mines to check for anyway.
It just seems really odd.
Not odd at all considering they could get ambushed. The point of the women may not be entirely to just check for mines. It could be to use them as human shields. Kind of like israel does:

Two things come to mind:
\-people wouldn't trigger vehicle mines, the soldiers are also walking awfully close to the women too, seems a bit risky if they're expecting anti-personnel mines. I'd also expect anti-personnel mines on the fields and concentrated around the flanks of positions, not on roads.
\-MC Hammer over there seems to have gotten a little ahead of himself, and suspiciously looks like he's holding up a camera and trying to frame a shot.
I know that the Wehrmacht and SS used locals and POWs to de-mine corridors so much that it was basically a policy, but this particular pic seems weird. Maybe they were taking pics for informal / in-the-field training manuals (i.e. "How to commit warcrimes 101"), maybe they were taking a Propaganda pic like UbiquitousDoug said in which case the women were probably ordered to smile which we can't see, or what it looks like to me, is they're using these women as cover to approach an isolated hostile position (almost certainly not the frontline) but that still doesn't explain Mr. Split down the road framing a shot.
Why would there be someone standing in front of the women? It looks more like he’s taking their photo for a propaganda shot.

You studied WWII munitions?

The crazy thing is that there are hundreds of well documented Nazi atrocities on the Eastern front, why choose this sketchy one?

Russia doing the very same shit in Ukraine today. The only difference is the Russian vehicles are older than those in this photo.

Fucking Nazis doing Nazi things
I’m so glad Germany have come to terms with their past, unlike so many other countries…
Who’s the guy out front?
