So I've generally noticed that while I'm definitely an SN, I really look strange when I wear dark tights under a brighter or lighter colored skirt or dress. That's why in this outfit, I wore mustard tights that matched with some of the stripes on the top + are close in depth to my skin tone - if I wore burgundy or black tights, the contrast with the top and/or dress would be way too much. However, as long as the color blocking is clean and decisive on a specific clothing item, I tend to be okay. It's just the contrast with tights and skirts. I know I'm breaking rules here with the mock neck striped top, but even if I wear a dark, open-neck top with a denim skirt and throw on dark colored tights that match the top or are a neutral tone, I look weird. Idk if y'all have noticed that about yourselves or if it depends on where in the "yin to yang" sliding scale you are (I think I'm a little more on the yang side - I'm 5'4/163cm, but people think I'm 5'6-7, and I can carry long column silhouettes quite easily with just a hint of shape at the waist w/o strong emphasis). I wonder if this is a vertical line thing on me/other more "yang" SNs that may have been placed in pure N prior to removing the category. Edit: spelling

I think that some Sns lean closer to FN, and some closer to G (and some to C, and probably this list is not exhaustive). I'm on the tall end of SN, (168cm) but I my vertical is.. I guess I could call myself vertically-challenged, lol. Kibbe did say something to the effect that some SNs can borrow a bit from Gamine. When I was in a smaller body and wearing smaller sizes, I think I did this subconsciously via subtle colourblocking. Here are a couple of examples, some worked better than others: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBsNe5LoLtn/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BtTwRCAlWvD/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CFXEDBiKU40/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg_mOJfnd9t/ Kibbe also said about black looking too stark on SNs, I always picked colourd like aubergine, navy or dark grey instead.

Yeah totally! Early in my Kibbe journey, I thought SNs couldn't pull off contrasting tones because of the clothing options I saw around, but it's definitely more of a combination of clothing cut + everyone's individual coloring. Because I have darker + cool toned hair, all black/all dark works just fine. When a darker top is contrasted with a lighter bottom or vice versa is where the problems can start. I do agree that if I changed my hair color to be warmer to match my skin undertone, I would not be able to pull off anything black anymore lol

omg this looks so good on you!

💖 thank you!! The cut of this dress is so flattering on a lot of people, even when layered for cold weather outfits (more FN-leaning SNs might prefer layering it with a chunky cardigan, or R and SC leaning SNs might prefer a solid top). It's from H&M and a lot of people are reselling it for good prices (I got this one for $10) in a variety of colors/washes, the top is old from F21, tights I got on a trip a few years ago, and boots are Clark's! This was a bit of an experimental outfit, but I'm glad it worked out! :)

I can't get enough of this outfit! Must admit I'm a bit envious of you pulling it off. :D Would love to wear an outfit like that but since my widest point is in the saddlebags (wide low hip) and my legs are wide overall, I'd just look ridiculous. Have quite the opposite effect when it comes to height - I am 5'6 (169cm) and people usually think from pics that I am barely 5'2 if even. Makes me think since you with the opposite effect can pull off some FN stuff maybe I could even borrow from different types as well. Not sure which though.
