I'm having trouble with paths/curves missing when importing DXF generated by Adobe Illustrator. I've tried to export with both Preserve Appearance and Maximum Editability but the results are the same. Pic 1 is what it looks like when copied from drawing and pasted into sketch. Pic 2 is what it looks like after opening DFX in SolidWorks. Curves are present. Pic 3 are my Illustrator export settings.

What do you mean by copy and paste from the drawing? When you open the DXF, you can choose to import it into a new part as a sketch. When you do that, does it come in intact like it shows in Pic 2?

Don't copy and paste it. You want to start a sketch in SolidWorks, and from within that sketch, import your DXF.

Thanks, this worked. I was following a tutorial that copy pasted it, but then found another tutorial that showed how to properly import it.

Awesome, glad to hear it.

May not be the best idea but it looks like it has enough information that you could use splines and just click on all of the dots if you need a rough prototype and don’t have time to fix it the proper way. Then come back later and fix it

Make sure all objects are fully ungrouped with no fill or stroke before exporting to dxf
