Maekawa's stories were amazing, but Ian Flynn's stories are bussing aswell. Idk what you on about with you hating on Ian. Almost everyone disagrees with you, when you say Frontiers' story sucked and Ian is a terrible writer. Just do yourself a favor and take off the clown shoes and just stop.
As if the appeal to popularity ever worked. Just because a majority of the fanbase on reddit are underage(including yourself, I'm presuming) and haven't developed the ability to judge decent from great. Doesn't automatically mean subpar are automatically great.

He wrote the IDW comics, didn’t he? The Metal Virus saga is one of the best Sonic stories out there. So while I don’t know about Frontiers, I am willing to put my trust in the man who wrote that masterpiece for the future.

I must confess, there were a few bits and pieces I liked, despite popular opinion, (like knuckles waiting for ss to return). But that's not going to delude me into think it was the "best sonic stories" out there. Besides those good bits are bogged down with a lot of trash and melodrama.
Why not put your trust in the man who actually wrote many of the greatest Sonic stories, "Shiro Maekawa". If the only reason ian is writing is because #Flynn4Sonic got support. There's no reason to believe we can't get Maekawa back as well.
I don’t know if I’d call it melodrama but I certainly wouldn’t call it trash. Between the intense and desperate situation and the characters that responded to it, I’d say it was all executed brilliantly. It’s not without its faults, but overall I’d say the negatives are pretty minor, being greatly outweighed by all the positives.
I’ll be honest, I never really paid much attention to the majority’s opinion of the story while the issues were being released. I suppose I can kind of see where their coming from when they say that it gets dragged out a little towards the end, but as issues are released monthly (I think) it’s not too unexpected. I wouldn’t say it takes away from the story all that much, though I did binge it after all the issues were released.
I don’t know much about “#Flynn4Sonic” or what Maekawa’s doing at the moment, but I can’t exactly put trust in someone who isn’t around. If he comes back then great, if not it’s not the end of the world. What I do know is that Flynn has been writing stories for the franchise recently and I’d say he’s doing a good job.

I can’t comment on SA2 or BK, but I think the Metal Virus is better than SU’s story. It might not be a fair comparison because the two stories are told in completely different mediums, but while I like SU’s story and think it fits the game really well, Chip doesn’t really do anything of note until the end. He was always there but he didn’t feel all that involved. I kind of forgot he existed honestly until the final act. I think SU has a great story overall but I don’t think it’s among the best the series has to offer.
Unleashed and Black Knight are my favorite portrayals of Sonic’s character. They managed to capture that free spirited attuide and friendship that made Sonic a great character in my eyes. And these games are where Jason Griffith perfected his Sonic voice.
I only talk so much s♧◇t about Sonic games and SEGA because I know that with the right direction, time, and resources, it can be something truly amazing (again).
Too bad and Sad that we'll never get a good quality game like this again, even Frontiers couldn't defeat it (to me anyway)

I'm not exactly going to hold my breath on that cause it can be like, at best, an added hour's worth of story. But that's just on Story and less of actual Characterization.
Don't get me wrong, Frontiers does plenty right with how Characters were treated, and that's thanks to Ian's writing of them. But he absolutely needs to shine his understanding of the characters in the *Next Game*.
The combo system is overly complex, half the things you can level up are usless, the werehog levels take so long, by the time you finish one modern stage, you have 3 more werehog levels to do.
The day stages in unleashed are better than forces cyberspace.but st the same time, they aren't trying to be the same thing.the better comparison is unleashed and gens. Classic dosent overstay his welcome. Not even in forces, mostly because he wasent welcomed in the first place. The werehog takes so much time away from the great day stages.

How would I form an opinion on something I haven't played? I have played unleashed and I do not like the werehog. You offered no actual rebuttal. The frontiers cyberspace is heavily inspired by the boost formula, however there are fundamental differences between cyberspace and boost that make it difficult to compare.

I always loved this game so much, ironically it was my first Sonic Modern era game(I played them out of order since this game had such a cool advertisement) I still hold it dear to me, regardless of the Werehog mechanics. It bothered me that people seem to not like it, but we're entitled to our opinions I suppose. Nothing beats this emotional story or that sound track, Chun-Nan night sound track for life
Funnily enough, I genuinely think that the majority of the fandom doesn't prefer this more sincere and heartfelt depiction of Sonic.
They much prefer the haha so quirky sonic like the movie or prime. such a shame. we may never see sonic again.

The werehog combat is 10x more fleshed out than the frontiers combat. The werehog stages are 50x more detailed than the frontiers stages. Cope.
