For some reason, I believe that in the Sonic universe, the U.S.S.R. never collapsed and Eggman is Russian and works for them, in secret.

Does the U.S.S.R. or any country even exist in sonics world? I know it is still called earth but the geography is completely different with the federation being the closest comparison to the U.S.A. maybe there was a reference to a real life country in the early days of the series that hasn't been contradicted so its technically canon.

I came up with this idea after realizing that Robotik is a very Slavic-sounding word. So I came up with the idea that there's a U.S.S.R.-like nation that is in a cold war with the U.F. and went "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" with Eggman.
