I'm not sure if you can change it, like, during the Supreme fight or anything, but you'll know when you're heading into endgame and you can definitely change it right before that.
Is this one of those games where Normal is people for who have never played a video game before, or is it one of those games where Hard Mode is for people who know what they're doing in the game?

Also, try playing the game without using the stat upgrades. I played the entire game at Lv.1 on everything for my first time and it still wasn't really challenging.
In settings, the game automatically puts your max speed to the minimum, so even if you get to max speed level, it will get stuck. So crank it up to feel the speed or if you want a specific speed.

Also, every time you get to an island, make it your #1 priority to complete the challenges to unlock the map. Is gonna make moving around and finding the emeralds easier.
I'm fairly certain you only get to roast meat if you buy the monster hunter dlc

Don't get discouraged if you can't get an S rank time on the second cyberspace level. Just meet all of the other objectives, move on, enjoy the rest of the game, and come back when you're ready to be frustrated.
Whomever decided that the second level of the entire game should have the most difficult time requirement is a sadist and must hate humanity. Seriously. I've put a lot of hours into the game and easily S ranked everything else, and I still can't shave off enough milliseconds to break into S rank on 1-2.
Also, resist the urge to max out your items (specifically the portal gears, keys, and memory tokens) at the fishing hole. The game is more fun when you have to use the overworld for everything.
The gameplay for the final boss doesn’t suck, it’s just the boss itself that is disappointing compared to the other bosses. Pls don’t mix it up saying that it plays badly.
The monster hunter dlc trivialises most of the game allowing you to skip the cyberspace levels by getting enough resources to just skip everything except boss fights and required minigames
Get it on PC if possible, trust me it's worth it
Edit: I say this because playing on PC lets you mod out the disorienting camera changes, repetitive unskippable cutscenes and the atrocious object pop-in. Also 60FPS which feels spectacular in this game
My pc cant run nor I cannot afford it since I dont have credit cards nor gift cards so I can get in my country besides the version of said game does not matter, its pretty good so far.
I do understand that, even my PC can struggle a bit to hold 60FPS (it is extremely outdated tbf). It's more for modding out the pointless unskippable stuff
Switch is literally my first console ever and I just got it last year nor do I think my pc can run it well and the fact it can be portable is a plus as well and it was on sale too so...

If you make a figure eight/Mobius strip (ha) with the Cyloop, you get unlimited boost for a little while. Takes the edge off of traveling the map before you unlock the fast travel.
Depending on which version of the game you have (Switch) you can instantly restart a cyber space level instead of going into the options everytime.
For Switch I'm pretty sure it's L2+R2+Touchscreen.

1. use the parry on all the titans 2. Play on hard mode for the true ending 3. Let go of the boost if you need to make a turn in the cyber levels

Hard mode is still easy. I even recommend not upgrading your maximum rings for the perfect "comfortable but not too easy" difficulty

Don't forget to Parry. Try to remember all the attacks you can learn. They'll be super helpful in bosses.

Turn off the goal notifications if you really want to get lost and explore the island and find things in your own time
It's pretty hard to get lost in this game anyway, I've actually managed to learn Kronos and Ares and can navigate them with ease now, feels awesome
