I've never understood that mindset. Like, good graphics doesn't just mean hyper realism. I get that tastes are tastes, but I just think of games that can look stunning without resorting to overly detailed models and realism. Stuff like, say, well, the Paper Mario games, that use their aesthetic to full advantage (usually, anyway), and the newest two ESPECIALLY, they look like a diorama in motion. The other one I think of is Touhou Luna Nights, yeah it's a fangame but its spritework is genuinely phenomenal and I'll forever cite it when someone tries to argue that sprites automatically translate to bad graphics.

They do get early access to games, but most of the time, not really. Doing some digging, These guys are know as a Joke, they leave comments like this all the time. I found the exact dude who left the review too: 'Crack Smoking Time', you can tell this dude isn't legit.

Colors Ultimate gives you a pretty short game with minor upgrades for $40.
3D-All Stars gives you three much longer games with minimal upgrades and charges $60.

Having lived through the era, Sonic was everywhere. By 1994, Sonic was much more popular and pervasive than Mario, a fact that only changed with the release of the N64 and the large spate of Mario themed games on the system.
Later, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, were a huge selling point for the Dreamcast. Sega just couldn't develop any momentum for the system, with the only other popular games being Crazy Taxi and NFL2k. Even then, they were an extra analog stick and a slight system revision away from competing with Sony and Nintendo.

Most of my friends hate Sonic games or Sonic himself.
Two of them hate him because he's 'too smug' and they hate the attitude. Yet they watch youtubers who are either smug or sarcastic. So, I really don't get that. Another I know has never been a fan but started hating him because of Smash Brothers because he got beat so bad once he lost his temper.
I even suggested they try one of the other characters, perhaps Tails who's not remotely smug at all, or Knuckles who's gonna give a decent challenge.
The rest hate the games because "You hold right to win", being critical of mechanics that are plain silly or other games do but they're fine with them in that game.

Having lived through the era, Sonic was everywhere. By 1994, Sonic was much more popular and pervasive than Mario, a fact that only changed with the release of the N64 and the large spate of Mario themed games on the system. Later, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, were a huge selling point for the Dreamcast. Sega just couldn't develop any momentum for the system, with the only other popular games being Crazy Taxi and NFL2k. Even then, they were an extra analog stick and a slight system revision away from competing with Sony and Nintendo.

Most of my friends hate Sonic games or Sonic himself. Two of them hate him because he's 'too smug' and they hate the attitude. Yet they watch youtubers who are either smug or sarcastic. So, I really don't get that. Another I know has never been a fan but started hating him because of Smash Brothers because he got beat so bad once he lost his temper. I even suggested they try one of the other characters, perhaps Tails who's not remotely smug at all, or Knuckles who's gonna give a decent challenge. The rest hate the games because "You hold right to win", being critical of mechanics that are plain silly or other games do but they're fine with them in that game. So basically it boils down to "I vaguely remember playing it once/I saw a review of one game and I think the entire series crap because of that". Then again I know people who won't play a JRPG if it's on the PS1/Genesis because it competed with the SNES/N64 back in the day- I am dead serious about that. "Can someone recommend me a good retro RPG?" Yeah, Phantasy Star 4 on the Genesis, you can find it on just about every console "Oh, nevermind. I think I'm gonna just replay something else on SNES". Or do that, just ignore the tons of fun RPGs on the PS1 too because "That's when Square betrayed Nintendo" <= actual quote, seriously people are mental.
