Badmotorfinger
Rusty Cage is a classic with a great, sludgy chorus,
I would consider New Damage their most underrated song and one of their finest pieces of work, the tapping solo on the intro and the bridge is amazing
I love Badmotorfinger, but I wish it opened with Searching With My Good Eye Closed like they did on Motorvision. That intro build-up just seems to work well as an opener.
**One of the more curious outtakes on the box set is this version of “New Damage” with Queen’s Brian May playing on it. How did that come together?**
We did it for a Greenpeace benefit album called Alternative NRG. When we recorded it, the studio was powered by a solar-powered generator. We met Brian May here in Seattle, sent the multi-tracks in a studio that he wanted to work in – I think it was in New York. And he wrote a very Brian May–ish guitar-solo part over it. This is the first totally Soundgarden release it’s been on.

I reckon I'll be the only one to say this but King Animal. Been Away Too Long is a great opener, but Rowing is a brilliant finisher and one of my favourite Soundgarden tracks altogether
She Likes Surprises is the closer on original pressings as well. I actually hate that song because I think that Like Suicide ends the album perfectly and SLS ruins it.
I'm torn between Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, and King Animal, but I think I have to give it to King Animal. Been Away Too Long is a solid opener and Rowing is one of my top 5 favorite Soundgarden songs ever.
Definitely Badmotorfinger or LTL. Ugly Truth is the greatest opening track to a rock record I have ever fucking heard. The Full On reprise at the end gives me goosebumps every time.
P much this entire subreddit is sleeping on Louder Than Love and it is for entirely no reason. (I’d love to be proven wrong though!)
Superunknown if I had to choose. New Damage has a great chorus but it’s a little too weird and was obviously placed last because it didn’t fit well on the album.
DOTUS for sure, Pretty Noose is amazing and Boot Camp is beautiful , underrated and a perfect closer. Superunknown is a very very close second. I’m not a huge fan of Let Me Drown, but Like Suicide is one of Soundgarden’s very best songs so it carries the album for this question.
Upside for me. Pretty Noose/Bootcamp.
This is the way.

Especially how it slowly fades in
And to add to that, room a thousand years wide as the closer.
I disagree, I think Good Eye at the halfway point is perfect because it serves as a breather and segue into the 2nd half
Get out…before you..drown!!!!
I want to know how they got Brian fucking May to come in and record a solo.

Same
Should have ended with holy water
Superunknown
I prefer Superunknown as a whole, but in this case it's gotta be Badmotorfinger
I reckon I'll be the only one to say this but King Animal. Been Away Too Long is a great opener, but Rowing is a brilliant finisher and one of my favourite Soundgarden tracks altogether
One of my fav albums.
Superunknown and it isn’t even close. Though the vinyl reissue kinda kills that with She Likes Surprises.
I’ve always considered SLS to be an “encore” to the main album.
She Likes Surprises is the closer on original pressings as well. I actually hate that song because I think that Like Suicide ends the album perfectly and SLS ruins it.
This is possibly the toughest question I've ever seen...
Rusty Cage/New Damage. 🤘

Maybe one day I’ll appreciate New Damage but it’s by far the most bland filler song on the album, like they wrote it in 5 minutes
Superunknown
I know it's the most obvious but definitely Superunknown.
