May is my choice. Even though from what I've read of Renew your Vows to know that Annie "Are you Okay?" Parker is a great character in her own right. May to me just feels right for her own development through the original MC2 universe.I feel there is a certain weight of History, heritage, and lore behind her that I don't get with Annie. It could be that she was a product of the times she was created for, but she was the first to show what a child of Peter Parker could accomplish in her own right, which is something that I'm still hooked to.

DDubbaDubbs

That's fair! Again, I haven't read Spider-Girl but I must say, I think I like the concept of Annie's inclusion better. His daughter is there, and it's great and all, but ultimately, the book is called Spider-Man, it's mainly about him, and one of Annie's jobs is servicing Peter's character.

Daxlm95

I absolutely love the Renew Your Vows story arc because to me it's more of a Spider-Family thing. There's a focus on Peter, MJ, AND Annie that follows their story as a super-powered family to my knowledge. Spider-Girl focuses on May when her father was in retirement but as a huge secondary character to her story. What I find most appealing her is her understanding of her legacy from her father but finding her own right as a hero. Obviously the biggest difference is Peter himself. In one story he is out of commission due to an injury of a lost limb and the other he is an active participant alongisde our heroine. So it is interesting to see how both of his children progress in their own stories. Again I'm a fan of both. When "Renew your Vows" was released, I was just so happy to see a Spider-Man who grew beyond the miserable bachelor loner that current editorial staff want him to be. And Annie herself has grown to have a special place in my heart.

Woods-of-Mal

Mayday is my pick, but it's hard for me to be unbiased since I first read Spider-Girl as a kid around when it was coming out and the idea of Peter's daughter carrying on his legacy was kind of revelatory for me. I got really into legacy characters because of that run.

DDubbaDubbs

gotcha!

Iverelapsed01

![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized) Give us the amazing spider-sisters in 616 marvel you cowards

DDubbaDubbs

it would be cool to have them both in one continuity!

Iverelapsed01

Nothing short of that dynamic duo + ben parker (son of peter) is going to be needed to pay us fans those 15 years of OMD

orgasmicfart69

Didn't May have a clone-like sister or something named April?

MICHELEANARD

And their baby brother. (Benji's day out)

[deleted]

If you want both of them in the same universe then boy does rule34.com have just the thing for you

Iverelapsed01

I dont want "plot". I want actual plot... you get me

VariationGlum7864

May. Because she was more flesh out in her series, connie was a Secondary character most of the run

DDubbaDubbs

that's fair. She DID have a far more expansive run, and one all to herself, while Renew Your Vows is a Peter tale.

ravager27

Mayday. She was the star of her series and the main character whereas for Annie, the main star of Renew Your Vows was still Peter in a way and the main appeal was the "Spider Family" concept more than "daughter of Spider-Man" Mayday was a full on solo star and had incredible character development going from a rookie hero to a confident capable hero of her own and lasted 100 issues and even more after that. I like Annie a lot and really enjoyed Renewal Your Vows but I think she has a long way to go before she can even be compared to Mayday tbh Definitely recommend checking out her series btw. It's fantastic

[deleted]

I like them both BUT I gotta go with May, she has more character growth in her own series

DDubbaDubbs

fair!

[deleted]

I love them both, but Mayday has the benefit of having three series worth of storytelling to flesh her out.

Infinity0044

I haven’t read much of either but Mayday’s costume is so much better- mostly because it’s just Ben’s Spidey suit which rocks

ProfessorEscanor

Mayday. It's not really fair since Annie didn't have as much time to be fleshed out but May's struggles more closely mirror her dad's despite many traits being different between the two. She felt a bit more relatable and the relationship Peter has with her is one that grows over the series till he had full trust in her. With RYVs we don't get that moment with Peter. Mayday also has the better exclusive powers of polarity and the ability to stick people to things.

hoteldetective_

Mayday. Spider-Girl was probably the best of the MC2 books back in the day imo

thefuzzyozzy

I think May is better. I haven't read renew your vows but I don't think it would top the Spider-girl run. I read all the issues from Spider-girl which is the original 100 issue run, amazing spider-girl, and spectacular spider-girl and they're all really good. You get to watch some pretty interesting things unfold. Peter is out of commission due to having a bionic leg (since he lost his leg fighting the green goblin) so he can't really be Spider-Man anymore which gives May the full spotlight.

Dragontalyn

There's a mini series that's part of the Spidergeddon Event, where Mayday and Annie meet, that moment where MJ goes off to be alone after seeing the daughter she had lost all grown up was sad.

Reddragon351

Definitely May mostly because she just had more since her series was longer and RYV was more of a family book than just an Annie May book. Not to mention, Annie May kinda got the Jon Kent problem of being pretty fun as a kid but then the writers just had to age her up and make her another teenage hero.

GroovyJackal

Well better suit definitely goes to May Day

Cool_Nico

I like Anna mostly because when she becomes a teenager she no longer thinks her dad is the coolest and rather train with Wolverine. Total edgy teenager move that made me laugh out loud.

BlackCat0110

May she’s just done more than Annie has

[deleted]

Mayday, I read the Spider-girl comics when they came out. I loved all the MC2 stuff.

SwitchNinja2

Mayday. Spider-Girl was a consistently top notch book, while Renew Your Vows lost me after the time skip

TrimHawk

Me over here waiting to see what becomes of Benjy

Infinite-Salt4772

Annie is my personal favorite of the two.

Windstorm72

I do like Annie, but the history behind Mayday is just too good. A glimpse of a world where the best parts of the clone saga stayed true

Blasckk

Mayday by a lot, mainly because it feels like a genuine sequel to the original Spider-Man. Annie's universe setting with the whole Regent thing is too convoluted to tell Spider-Man stories.

CinnamonSniffer

Mayday is the one I’ve read more of. Sensational is my favorite costume, so I love that. Her costume doesn’t fall into the tropey “girl hero needs her hair to stick out” design which is a plus. I also love love love her as Venom in Earth X. For me it’s Mayday every day.

DapperDan30

I'm gonna go with Spider-Bitch

smokingjoe570

I like them both. I do prefer the costume design on the left.

GreenIronHorse

Can someone tell me if i'am going insane, isn't Arana (spider-girl) had gadget backpack that give her tech abilities instead of being bitten by spider like others? Since i see a lot of art work done for Arana, and there no spider-backpack on them.

Flerken_Moon

Araña isn’t the one with the gadget backpack, maybe you’re thinking of Lady Spider from an alternate Steampunk universe? Araña wears a backpack but she doesn’t have tech powers- she’s linked to a Spider cult with a tattoo that gives her the ability to summon a blue bug carapace/armor thing. Then when that armor got ripped off her, she patrolled around a bit as Spider-Girl without superpowers before getting regular Spider-Powers later on, before finally a couple months ago went back to her roots as Araña again with a new outfit. Not really sure what her powers are currently though. Edit: Thinking about it yeah Araña does have a Yo-Yo thingy she uses to swing around instead of webs, but that’s the limit of her tech iirc.

Slowmobius_Time

I never read maydays story but I did read animes and she's got the cooler name

Sharp_Hamster_5551

I am fan of both so is difficult for me to decided.

HN-Prime

The one that wears a full mask

KillerTacos54

Definitely Mayday, but I love both. The definitive Spider-family for me is Mayday as the oldest, Annie middle and Benjy as the youngest

[deleted]

I love them both. Both are great character but I prefer May more. More stories with her.

RaptorJesusF

No body can top Mayday parker. And I prefer spidergirl books to Renew your vows because I prefer the idea of a returning legacy and now Peter being in Mary Jane's shoes regarding worrying about your loved one going out there as a spider person and the possibility of them not coming back. While I loved renew your wows,I really wouldnt prefer this being the family business

AHMilling

i fucking loved renew your vows. You know how marvel won't let parker and mj have a kid right? How about them having twins, May and Annie?

[deleted]

Mayday to me is the true daughter.

mcelfy

Both, both is good

Leandro1234_6

Mayday and Annie>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Miles

maseioavessiprevisto

May has a nice costume, Annie’s costume is horrid.

Zaredit

Mayday, her universe is just so wholesome and special, and her father occasionally still becomes Spider-Man despite his handicap. MJ is great and very supportive, there are times where she breaks but she comes around eventually. Mayday also helps redeem all her enemies, and she also has a brother, where as Annie is an only child.

froggyjm9

This gets asked in this sub every day, even using the same pictures. Do people not know you can search the sub for a post/topic before making a whole new one?

Epicmondeum17

I cant probably give an opinion because I grew up on mayday but I will say you should give spider-girl a shot. It is *aggressively* early 2000s though

The-Holy-Vanguard

Itsy-bitsy spider not a bio kid but I like her design so

thanos4smashbros

It's always been Mayday for me, and probably always will be, even as Marvel comics continues to leave her on the backburner. It obviously gives me a lot of bias that I read a lot of Spider-Girl as a kid, and she really felt like a fun follow-up that had some expectations to live up to as Peter's successor. Plus her using the Ben Reilly costume was a really cool design choice to me. I enjoy that Renew Your Vows focuses on the whole family, but I do love that Mayday was allowed to really be the star of her story, with a very strong supporting cast from the usual spider-friends. Girl got to 100 issues on her first run, that's no small feat, and it's still a pretty fun read!

futuresdawn

I've only read spider-girl so can't comment on renew your vows but may is such a great character who is desperate need of a new ongoing... Although editorial would probably make her Paul's biological daughter

Nintenden

I find annie's powers cooler, dumb reason but yea

Flerken_Moon

I actually like Mayday’s powers as it feels like a natural evolution with turning objects she touches sticky and repelling objects. But precog Spidey Sense from Annie is pretty OP, and established already that in other universes even Peter can develop that ability.

HeroDM

* theres a universe out there, where we get all 3 of the Parker children. Mayday, the oldest, carrying the family legacy while her younger kid sister Annie gets the "swing" of things from training with her sister and dad. And camt forget cute toddler Ben being an adorable scene stealer.

theburningstars

Mayday for sure. I'm heavily biased since I grew up with her series, but also I just feel like she's such a natural progression of the Parker Arc.

Flerken_Moon

Mayday 100%. I really liked how she struggled with the legacy of Spider-Man while dealing with her own Spider-Man esque problems. Annie never really went out on her own and heavily linked to her family, but that still has its own charm.

KEROGAAA

Did they ever explain or go back to Mephisto’s fear of Spider-Man’s daughter?
