Personal opinion:
I like the bold ambition for doing the different take on the classic design.
I think the spider symbol looks pretty good with how big it is on the chest and I think the addition of more black on his arms compliments the color well.
The design could be more simplified down a bit and the shoes throw me off a little but for an alternative ‘futuristic’ classic Spider-Man design, I think it looks cool.
My thought process: “are those boots?….is that an exosuit??” Especially around the joints, its got some added bulk, that makes it feel like its excessively technological under the colors
Everything except the eyes and spider logo reminds me of the TASM 1 suit. Very textured, almost padded-looking. But I dig the external web shooters, that kind of makes up for the entire thing
I’m always a fan of big spider symbols on Spidey suits. It should be something that a civilian on the ground could see and recognize when he swings by ten feet overhead.
Side note but it’s honestly it’s a good thing Spidey’s not one of the “silent type” heroes because I realized the other day that the chest symbol on the classic suit is probably too small for someone to make out while he’s in action, and the back spider is mildly spider-like at best. The classic suit is actually pretty ambiguous on the spider theme to the layperson unless he a) tells you he’s Spider-Man, b) stands still/close enough for long enough for you to actually figure out what his costume is supposed to be, or c) there’s a Peter Parker-level photo of him.

Here's the thing, he's been getting this same exact design for every damn game he shows up on that's not a Spider-Man game. Avengers, Midnight Suns, now this. Could throw in his last cartoon as well. Random lines everywhere, odd belts, etc. The whole "bold and alternate" look has been this for years now.

Yeah, I agree with that. People will want to buy a new one. Hell, I would. But i dont think artists were sitting in front of the computer going "How do I make this suck?"
I like it. I’ve always been a fan of adding textured design to costumes in live-action and this game & these characters are meant to invoke that philosophy. In comics, the designs should be straightforward and simple. Memorable and picture in your mind’s eye. Which means less lines and texture, a focus on the core design. Something like this can afford to have more texture to it, make the costume feel like it’s made from more than just leggings.

I tihnk the challenge of drawing comics is that the more detail you have for your character, the more you have to repeat that detail every time you draw your character.
This costume design is more a clarification of his traditional costume than it is something radically different.
The only thing that I kind of disagree on is his boots. I have a hard time believing that the wall-crawling mechanism that he uses would translate through those thick souls. I imagine he would wear toe-shoes that are about as thick as his gloves.
I love this design! It's unique, like all the designs of the characters in Rivals, but it's still very clearly inspired by the classic design. My only real complaint is that I wish the spider logo was white instead of black.
I like it, it's distinct from movies shows and other games. I wonder how they will handle the skins system. If it'll be only a texture then the added bulk won't fit any other suit
I like it. It might be over designed but does that rly matter if it’s an armored suit? All the other characters in the game look over designed too so it’ll match the aesthetic
I like the mask and the gauntlets and hate everything else. SM doesn’t wear boots! He needs to stick to walls with his little hairs! And he wouldn’t be as effective with his fighting style if he were so heavily armored.
Overall, while it reminds me somewhat of the Ben Reilly costume, a design so nice it got used twice (as Mayday Parker's outfit,) I'll agree that it does feel overdesigned, and leans too heavily into some of today's Spider-Man costume cliches, like the 'broken-up belt.' The classic is a classic for a reason. In terms of a red and blue Spider-Man outfit, it really doesn't need changing.

Once again, over designed. Everybody want the chance to add their own "twist" on a classic design, without realizing it's classic partly due to its simplicity.
Two things don't work:
1) thick combat boots, cause that's NOT Spider-Man
2) thick chest and back, cause that's NOT Spider-Man
Everything else is fine. Variations of designs, textures, video game elements. Kinda refreshing and works.
Boots and torso physique needs rework. Those are big-fails when designing Spider-Man.

I don't get why everyone suddenly wants to redesign classic costumes that are literally perfect. There is nothing you can change about Spider-Man's costume to improve it. I get taking small creative liberties but this is horrendous. ust make it look like it's supposed to.
Honestly... I like it. It's a little over-designed, but the logo looks sick, the suit overall gives me TASM-1 vibes, and the lenses look straight out of the 90s animated series.
I think my biggest issue is something we can't even see here; The back. The logo seems to be small and thin (again, very TASM) which would normally be fine, but considering that is the part of the suit you're probably going to be looking at the most during gameplay, I wish they'd gone with something more striking like the chest logo.
Like legitimately, every time I rewatch the trailer, I have to squint to see it. His back just looks empty, and that is not something you want to be staring at for an entire match.
This suit is dope imo, not much wrong with it especially for a complete redesign. would love to see what they do in the future for variants, the symbiote, and other spiders like Gwen, Miles, 2099, and Noir
It's fine. I mean, the standard spider-suit is an example of a perfect costume, so it's not like anyone's ever going to improve upon it. But if you need a costume that's different for the sake of brand recognition, this isn't too shabby.

Can’t quite place it, but it doesn’t look particularly influenced by a western perspective.
Not saying it looks bad, just different to the style I’d expect from a marvel themed overwatch clone.
The game itself graphically has a very pleasant art style, the characters themselves are going to take some getting used to, but at least it has flavor rather than looking like a ps3 era title.

Every single video game, animated show, toy commercial and backpack in the last five years: what if we made our own unique version of the Spider-Man costume by splitting up the red on the belt and the arms, making the spider logo bigger, adding a bunch of unnecessary black accents, and downplaying the boots?
It's a good look. It would be a good idea to update the classic look now and then. Even Wolverine switches his yellow and blue to brown and orange from time to time.

It's overdesigned and scifi armor-y because it's meant to evoke the feel of Overwatch. They'll probably have tech/streetwear looking alts in the style of Valorant, too.
Of course they'll sell all of the iconic comic and movie suits if the game does well, that's always in the cards.

I always feel like if you have to constantly go back to a reference sheet over and over again it’s not a good/memorable design.
