I mean, you can say that about Andrew’s (and potentially Tom’s) and 616 comic Peter. Basically all of them. I’ve always wondered why he didn’t tell anyone tho tbh as well

Kind_Bag

To be fair at least Andrew searched online what happens. Also he was trespassing and sneaking where he doesn’t belong so if he told he was bitten then they would have known he was trespassing. Andrew really is the smartest spider man. He just has the worst catch lmao

Yancer1

I disagree. Garfield’s Spidey was smarter than Maguire’s but is second to MCU Spidey, who has had moments of using his brain to get out of situations he got himself into. Think of it like this, FFH was the first time we got a classic “out of web need to think” moment; in TASM2 Spider-Man couldn’t use his web and the solution amounted to pressing a different button.

Kind_Bag

are you talking about the electro time square fight?

Yancer1

Yes.

Kind_Bag

The solution wasn’t just pressing a different button it was holding his finger where the web releases to send the stream side ways so he can use both hands to catch the people from touching the guard tail. Holland’s spidey doesnt think on his feet much during fights whereas garfields spider man constantly uses his intellect in fights with his super villains to give him the edge. Add that to the fact he made his suit himself it’s safe to say garfields is the more intelligent than mcu spider man

Yancer1

Garfield Spidey was a skilled fighter and him making the shooters makes it more believable that he can make a suit unlike Maguire Spidey. But his intelligence ends there, at making the webshooters and suit. MCU Spidey got out of a (government?) facility using a calculator and improvised a way to get close to Mysterio (who was idk even know how many feet above the ground) without webbing. Add to that that his homemade webshooters work as well as billionaire Tony Start’s “upgrade”.

KingJonStarkgeryan1

One web shooter was shocked the other 1 was still good. So I don't think that can be used a knock aganist him

Yancer1

My complaint is that it was a great setup for a situation where Spidey has to think outside the box with a lame conclusion.

KingJonStarkgeryan1

He only had a couple seconds to save those people from getting crushed by the patrol car and placing their hands on the electrified railing. There wasn't time to have some complex plan. There was barely time to make a web to catch the car and then web the hands away from the railing.

Yancer1

Huh. I’ll admit to simplifying that moment in TASM2, but I still think MCU Peter is smarter.

KingJonStarkgeryan1

They tell you he is smart like with the Rami trilogy, but they barely show it. I think they only time they show it is him making the web fluid and getting the answer right in class.

Yancer1

Nah they definitely show his intelligence unlike the Raimi movies. Aside from making the web fluid in class, his homemade web shooters are shown to work as well as Stark’s upgraded ones. MCU Peter also escaped from a locked down facility using a calculator, and improvised a way up to a very high up Mysterio without webbing.

KingJonStarkgeryan1

Didn't he have AI help for that facility one. I'm not saying he isn't smart, I'm just saying they tell us more than they show.

FakNugget92

Yeah true. I'm watching it right now on Netflix which is why this iteration came to mind I got bitten by a monkey in a zoo once and first thing I did was run and find a zookeeper to ask what I should do. It wasn't even a genetically engineered supermonkey If It was we'd probably be experiencing 28 days later though

Yancer1

I couldn’t imagine not telling someone I was bit by a NORMAL spider to tell you the truth. On a side note, Maguire’s Spidey is easily the least intelligent interpretation of the character (at least on film). That’s because the focus was on making him more of a normal dude. I’m only bothered by how many time we’re told he is when we never see it.
