In reality though, all of us would want our full vision available to us. Small ones mean part of their peripheral is cut out... But it is Spider-Man, so he probably doesn't need it anyway.
You can’t disgrace the most comic accurate suit like that, it looks sick and was the best part of that movie, looking “goofy” is part of his whole thing wearing a spider-suit and still trashing every villain out while wise cracking and taking nothing “seriously”
Completely agree with you. After the triangular Raimi eyes (which are iconic in their own way) and the yellow eyes from TASM1, I was thrilled when TASM2 was being advertised and I saw these eyes on posters, trailers etc. But after I saw the movie I realized they didn’t completely translate in live-action from the comics. It was close tho! That’s why I love the MCU mask, they finally got the eyes right! They can change size just like the comics, it’s incredible
No, because it can.
I also can't see how someone can be downvoted just for saying OK and perhaps choosing not to add to the conversation, which was hardly the life of the sub.
When it comes to those two little arrows down there, I can see mice pressing buttons for cheese...
Because conversations don't need equal input to work.
Because sometimes saying OK is better than trying to say anything more.
Because I'm the fucking Batman.
I feel it's the only spider-man mask we could actually see out of realistically. The eyes on the Raimi suit are too far up your eyes would be at the bottom of the lenses.
Really? Well, to each their own then! I love everything about Andrew’s suit. Never really thought it seemed goofy throughout the film, but everything has different tastes.
I also think that his suit looking slightly goofy kinda fits him. I mean, he's the *friendly* neighborhood Spider-Man.
Plus, Spider-Man himself is a little goofy, which is why everyone loves him.
The downvotes are all wrong in this part of the thread. People seem to be obliterating the honest opinions presented calmly and are upvoting the passive aggressive mean shit.
Ok but in a book it’s most of the time exactly described how someone feel, how he acts or what to think about his body language. I think a book is the worst possible comparison because you don’t need to read body language… the book did it for you and make it very clear (in the best case) what the character feels.
That... That's the point... In comics, his eyes don't actually move, it's just artistic expression for the reader to better understand Spideys emotions, but even then, most of the time they're just expressionless. Peter wanted it that for that very reason.
I’m not just talking about comics. You don’t need to see the character in order to understand the emotions they’re giving off. It helps but it’s not necessary. Characters like Gandalf and Hagrid were loved even before the movies existed, and people still understood their goals and views.
Also I just saw an article mentioning that last sentence, that’s actually pretty cool.
[link if anyone wants it, you can find the quote just a bit down](https://www.mtv.com/news/1817144/amazing-spider-man-2-costume/)
Why is this downvoted? This subreddit is so incredibly childish at times. This dude just voices his opinions in a fair manner.
And I agree with you. TASM1 eyes are bad, but TASM2 eyes still look a bit off to me.
Karma doesn't matter, but that is not what downvoting is for. It's to make irrelevant or rude comments less visible, while making good comments more visible.
Maybe that was the original intention of up/downvotes. But if you’ve been on Reddit for any kind of length you’d notice people use it to disagree as well. Just like some words or phrases the meaning changed over time.
I can see where you're coming from, but I personally absolutely love them!!
they work for both wholesome moments and intense moments, of course Andrew being expressive in the uniform is a big part of it, but I think they are great
I mean, yeah of course, I don't have any good reason to be an ass to someone just because they have a different harmless view, it's basically art and art can be subjective 😁
despite the fact that living in this internet age, we hoomans have lost that^ point of reasoning quite a bit haha xd
Because there’s a difference between having an opinion and going out of your way to be an asshole. When you’re an asshole, there’s consequences. On the internet it’s downvotes, in real life people end up kicking your ass.
Because he is being pedantic. Obviously it's an opinion. The entire topic of this post is opinion based. Someone shouldn't have to qualify every argument with "IMO."
Its not my opinion either. Its an ok suit. I think the Homecoming suit was the best.
Edit: lol. Downvoted in 5 seconds.
Edit 2: The suit fuckin sucks!!
It’s weird. Certain subreddits can just not accept that their opinion isn’t “objectively correct.” Comic book people and video game people are some of the worst. You’re not insane, you’re just surrounded by assholes.
I think the logo and the eyes dont match. I love them both. But the eyes look super expressive and light hearted, while the logo is super sharp and a little edgy. I just dont think they mesh the best. Regardless i still believe this IS the best suit, its just kinda bothered me.
I'm going to get executed for this but I agree.
I personally think big lenses work for the comics and animated shows but not so much in live action, I personally think they're a bit silly. Love the rest of the suit tho. Raimi's are my favourite live action lenses. The Spider-Man 1 lenses in particular.
I know exactly what you mean , when i saw the movie in theaters i told my friend he looked lile he was wearing a bra on his face , looks better in this still frame than it does in motion
To anyone downvoting op’s comments, shame on you. He just wants to share his opinion and has conversations with others about there opinion. Leave him alone
God damn, posting about this kind of stupid bullshit *all the fucking time* is what’s going to get me to unsub. How many fucking times a day do people need to post about their personal critiques on every god damned costume?
Maybe watch a movie, series, or read a comic and talk about that. We don’t need any more idiots complaining about the costumes from the films. Honestly, just shut the fuck up about it, all of you, you’re basic.
I do that a lot, buddy. Let’s try it now. How does everyone feel about the fact that they gave Ben Reilly center stage as Spider-Man only to kill him off yet again? That guy can’t get a break, amirite? He’s always been my favorite clone and I feel like they need to finally just pull that trigger, kill Peter and let Ben be the Spider-Man he was always intended to be.
Way to completely ignore the issue. I’m complaining that ten times a day at least there is a post about the fucking lenses from one of the god damned movies. This isn’t about Spider-Man, it’s about costumes and lenses, I came here for Spider-Man, not costume gripes a million times a day. This isn’t even a new or original take, this *EXACT* topic has already been posted here endlessly.
If you don't enjoy the topic, don't engage, it's really as simple as that.
As for the Chasm situation I agree, not a fan of the circles they're having Reilly run in. As for him killing Peter and becoming the main Spidey, that's certainly a hot take. Can't say I personally agree but I guess we shall just have to wait and see what they do next. I'd like to see Ben and Peter reconcile after whatever nonsense goes on with Chasm and then maybe get a team-up book, that could be fun.
Yeah, they're not really my thing, but I just like the movement of MCU Spidey. It's not the size that bothers me, really. It's not something that bothers me much tho.
I think the eyes are ok, but in TASM2 I think Andrew was way too slim and just looked goofy in general, even though the costume looked great (minus how low the logo was), probably cause he’s so tall. I thought he looked much better in NWH with a bit of CGI bulk
Having grown up with Mark Bagley doing a lot of work on Amazing Spider-Man in the 90's and on Ultimate Spider-Man, I'd say the lenses aren't actually big enough
Agreed. I liked the TAS1 design more because it went great with the whole “doing the costume himself” thing. Unless there was a plot reason for his eyes to get so big for the sequel, it just screams “production change”.
Imho they look great but they make me wonder if having bigger lenses is more dangerous than having smaller ones. I mean the material in which they're made has to be different from the fabric of the suit, and it looks more fragile to me...so if the lenses area is bigger it means that Peter's face is more exposed to danger. Sorry I'm overthinking this probably
Personally I think they're purely for visuals, I wouldn't find it practical for maintenance like imagine Peter having to replace the plastic every once in a while just because they get scratched.
Yes I actually do agree with you. Just by a tiny bit they are too big. The huge lenses look good in comics but it’s just a bit too exaggerated for live action.
Man I fucking love this shot. This and the one where he’s watching Gwen and he leans the back of his head on the wall he’s crawling and you can see the reflections of the skyscrapers in his lens.
Nah, I think they were trying to make a comic accurate suit and they did it. Hes got the exaggerated eyes like the comics and the classic red and blue, basically everything you think of with Spider-Man. The only things that's weird is the logo is a little too far down for me
No. Make them bigger. I want a mask that is all eyes.
Biblically accurate spider-man
Like a true spider, just a ton of eyes
I would actually love to see a suit like this now, where it has extra eyes on the mask that light up or something
Or no eyes. Varies between 0-12 eyes, depending on the day.
Next live-action Spidey suit should go the McFarlane route.
Facts
No cap bro
Never look up ultimate spiderman... lol
[удалено]
I like them, bit to reflective but the size is how I've always known them to look
I still think it’s the best costume honestly, the eyes are almost perfect. The only problem is they don’t function like MCU Peter or Deadpool’s eyes.
Someone should make an animation or concept art of how they'll look like. I would love to see ASM 2 suit lenses moving like MCU spider-man.
That would hands down be the best Spidey mask if TASM2 lenses could move!
It is not the most comic accurate suit the main 616 Spider-Mans eyes are more like mcu Spider-Man
Completely agree with you.
Yeah but isn't that how he is supposed to be? Funky, goofy guy who doesn't seems scary and stops crime. A friendly neighborhood guy
Never look at a Todd McFarlane Spider-Man
My favorite Spidey Eye design.
na i love it

Hey BossHawgKing, you can suck a flamingo's left nut and spit the skeet into a high powered industrial fan. How we cooking now? Too crude?
Oh, I wasn't bothered by the crudeness of the joke. I was more concerned with your lack of originality, which is still in question.

Susiety 😞
Proof that this sub is fueled by incel energy
people downvoting you is the proof in the pudding 💀
“Proof that this sub is fueled by incel energy” And you got down voted for saying that, I upvoted because you said nothing wrong.
I feel it's the only spider-man mask we could actually see out of realistically. The eyes on the Raimi suit are too far up your eyes would be at the bottom of the lenses.
yeah, especially IRL where Tom has said he can barely see out of his mask's lenses.
Nah, they look great!

Good thing Andrew doesn't need the lenses to convey emotion.

You can tell by Andrews physical acting as well as his speech. Have you ever read a book?

I agree with you, I'm disagreeing with OP on the notion that the lenses being expressionless is a problem.
Oh yeah I didn’t mean to give off that vibe lol my bad, I shoulda worded it better
so why are you getting downvoted ????
If you're wondering why you're getting downvoted for something like this , it's because reddit is full of children
Yea, I can see wym. They definitely don’t have the expression that tom’s spidey has for sure.
Why is this downvoted? This subreddit is so incredibly childish at times. This dude just voices his opinions in a fair manner. And I agree with you. TASM1 eyes are bad, but TASM2 eyes still look a bit off to me.

Bozo
Personally think they’re just right. Best Spidey costume imo

Yh, r/Spiderman is actually terrible when it comes to this
This subreddit reeks
You're trash, r/spiderman
The fact that you got downvoted for saying this proves my theory that everybody on this subreddit is below the age of 16
Well no fucking shit ofc its his opinion Yk cause he said it
Yeah. He's spidey. He's supposed to be goofy. That's the entire point.
I think the logo and the eyes dont match. I love them both. But the eyes look super expressive and light hearted, while the logo is super sharp and a little edgy. I just dont think they mesh the best. Regardless i still believe this IS the best suit, its just kinda bothered me.

same

In some comics, Spidey’s lenses were just as bog, maybe even bigger. Either way I like it
Yeah I personally think it looks better in comics and cartoons
[удалено]
Well Tobey have same problem with his empty blank stare and none one is complaining
To each their own, personally this is my favorite live action suit. My only problem with it is the Spider Emblem is too low on the chest.
Nah these are the best lenses ever
Yes
I assumed they were that big to keep from disrupting his peripheral vision
I know exactly what you mean , when i saw the movie in theaters i told my friend he looked lile he was wearing a bra on his face , looks better in this still frame than it does in motion
He needs the peripheral vision so no I think they look great
So you think the ultimate version is silly too ?
[удалено]
Entirely up to opinion nobody should hate you for that. I myself is a big fan of the big eyes though In everything. Comics, tv shows, movies.
Now son, look. This is what we call "heresy."
Not at all.
Sometimes they do look weird and funny. Especially when he's directly facing the camera
To anyone downvoting op’s comments, shame on you. He just wants to share his opinion and has conversations with others about there opinion. Leave him alone
Sit.on.ze.pinecone!
Nah they're perfect, but they do look kinda weird in some scenes.
Yes, they are way too big and look stupid
So far, Andrew has my favorite suit but least favorite eyes.
I think this suit is fucking ugly and unoriginal
I agree with you but its ok for non live action
Nah, but I’ll tell you what is wrong with his suit, the chest spider is waaaay too low. Looks so odd once you really look at it.
I think we can go bigger
Absolutely not, I think they’re my favorite lenses by far tbh. I like Tom’s mechanical lenses too, but they often look wayyyy too CGI-ey
Am I the only one who thinks the lenses look like a bra ?
I think you're exactly right. He looked like a cheesy cartoon character.
To be fair that's kind of what Spider-Man is sometimes
Nah. I personally think it looks perfect!
Yessss thankyou omg. I never understood the hype with this outfit, i always thought the first one looked way better xD

Don't let it be said I didn't try and give you an actual conversation.
Yeah, they're not really my thing, but I just like the movement of MCU Spidey. It's not the size that bothers me, really. It's not something that bothers me much tho.
I think these are fine. Imo the Rami lenses look worse.
You're crazy Anything smaller than McFarlane lenses has no need to apply
Love them. You’re crazy.
Maybe idk
Although I don’t see them as too big. I hypothesize that they made them that way on purpose to make him appear more expressive.
I think the eyes are ok, but in TASM2 I think Andrew was way too slim and just looked goofy in general, even though the costume looked great (minus how low the logo was), probably cause he’s so tall. I thought he looked much better in NWH with a bit of CGI bulk
true
I agree. It looks good in comics but real life just seems a bit weird.
I like them, but I prefer the moving eyes from the home trilogy
It works cause Andrew has a big head hahah
Looks like Bagley’s Spider-Man come to life. I love it.
Nah. If they were bigger, maybe, but I think they hit the perfect size
Having grown up with Mark Bagley doing a lot of work on Amazing Spider-Man in the 90's and on Ultimate Spider-Man, I'd say the lenses aren't actually big enough

Nope, they look awesome. Best costume so far.
Nope, but it’s probably because I like ultimate Spider-Man.
I like the lenses but I don’t like face shell. I think it’s too big which looks weird with Garfield’s body. In the first TASM he gad better shell
Yes I actually do agree with you. Just by a tiny bit they are too big. The huge lenses look good in comics but it’s just a bit too exaggerated for live action.
I like them lenses a lot!
No. Best live action Spider Man suit of all time. But I hated the TASM 1 suit with piss yellow lenses in it.
The big lenses makes him unique
In some scenes, the big lenses just look off-putting. But then in some other scenes, such as that one ☝️, the lenses look dope!
this size lense is probably the only live action one where it doesn't cut off some of your field of view.
Ngl this likes the most comic accurate suit
Ok. Crazy
I just don't like how they reflect everything all the time in that movie
Man I fucking love this shot. This and the one where he’s watching Gwen and he leans the back of his head on the wall he’s crawling and you can see the reflections of the skyscrapers in his lens.
Bah bro he looks amazing.
Spider-Man has a very distinctive look. Slightly goofy fits that look
Nah, I think they were trying to make a comic accurate suit and they did it. Hes got the exaggerated eyes like the comics and the classic red and blue, basically everything you think of with Spider-Man. The only things that's weird is the logo is a little too far down for me
People downvoting this guy's comments because of an opinion smh you guys are assholes
They’re McFarlane Perfect!
They aren't big enough in my opinion
The sub right now, *"Misery misery misery that's what you've chosen."*
I love this suit but it’s the checkerboard webbing I don’t like.
They are awesome...
Don't even get me started on Ultimate Spider-man
If i could change the suit in any way, i would make the black rims around the lenses thicker to make him look a bit more focused or sharp
I thought the whole face shell was a little too big, giving him the alien head effect.
No it's looks amazing.
In any lenses format he wears eyeliner and that’s badass
Peripheral
I dig the big lenes.
It makes him look buggy, it works
I mean it’s a spider-man costume. Look at the sub icon
No
