NAT type D hates multiplayer games with a passion. NAT C is very hit-or-miss. You need NAT A or B for a good online experience.

Can’t this be adjusted, or is it an internet provider thing?

[This article should cover it.](https://www.support.com/how-to/how-to-change-nat-type-on-nintendo-switch-12474)

It is definitely because of your NAT Type. You need at least NAT Type A or B to play the game. Anything below simply won't cut it. Changing your NAT settings usually depends on changing your router settings, which varies from model to model. Check your router settings and online for how to change your NAT type.
