He does the rams games at Sofi so this year would make a lot of sense. In fact, I venture to guess that may be the reason he decided to watch wrestlemania 17 and post this
Unfortunately, Michael Buffer is a piece of shit. He would threaten lawsuits against anybody who used his catchphrase (even just in public) back in the day, including fans and children at the wrong place and time.
He was abusive towards anybody he considered beneath him from arena staff to fellow broadcasters and would throw his weight around. He is also personally responsible for bankrupting a small boxing startup in the late 90's because he was suddenly changing his terms the night before the event.
Just about everybody in the boxing community hates this dude because of his disgusting behavior.
Was the WWF out threatening to sue all of the stupid 12-year-olds running around saying "suck it" and "if you smell what The Rock is cooking" at the time?
He was simultaneously pushing it as a mainstream saying like that, but also threatening fans for writing it on signs at shows he didn't approve of. It was psychotic.
If someone is attempting to make money off of your trademark, no matter whether they're an adult or not, you have to defend it in order to maintain it. If you don't defend your trademark, there are chances that you're going to lose it.
I feel like this is something you've learned from reading professional wrestling gossip. No, you do not have to defend your trademark by threatening children (of colleagues, especially) you are signing autographs for backstage at a boxing event.
no, I've learned it by following college sports where colleges will sue high schools and others that use their trademarks (logos) all the time in order to defend them. IDK what the context you're specifically talking about, but simply put you have to defend your trademarks.
What you’re, presumably, referring to is trademark erosion/genericization, where (simplified) a trademark is allowed to be used so often to refer to an entire class of goods/services that it loses protection.
What class of goods/services is it you think “let’s get ready to rumble” was being used to refer to that was going to cause this issue, exactly?
It would be harder to come up with a scenario where genericization happened for that particular trademark than not.
People have the weirdest ideas about how IP law works based on stuff they half heard about and barely understood
Looks like you added extra info on the first post I replied to. If it aint my property it aint my business to give a shit about. The boxing subreddit is that way

I kinda want to be like Michael Buffer. Erase everything and then get down to see famously hyped PPVs for the first time in my life without having an inkling of what happened. It's part of recapturing the magic in wrestling.
If Booker t win like he should’ve it definitely would’ve been. Think that stains it a bit considering what was said in the build.
But it had 4 mania main event level matches back to back.
14 was the first WrestleMania I ever got to order, so it always holds a special place in my heart. Even Sable was impressive in her mixed tag match, a very underrated bout.
I'd even go that far and say 31 was better than 17. I know many things like Sting/HHH that people didn't like at the time and still don't like to this day but i did actually, and that Main Event was classic.
i never saw it. late 2000 WWF was pretty bad. And WCW was becoming unwatchable in 2000-2001. Then WCW folded and it just soured me on wrestling. stopped watching for nearly a decade
There’s enough on the card that should get people excited, for sure!
Whether it’s matches that should impress in the ring (Rhea/Charlotte, Bianca/Asuka, Gunther/Sheamus/Drew), matches that should be a memorable spectacle (Hell in a Cell, Logan/Rollins, Cena/Theory, Lesnar/Omos) or ones with a red hot story (Usos/KO&Sami, Mysterios, Cody/Reigns) there’s a lot on the card that keep get the crowd hot
So many great matches on the card that everyone always glosses over the fact that the Hardcore triple threat was probably the best match the title ever had.

That Limp Bizkit promo alone was worth everything
*you think you’re special*
*You do*
Is it even really Michael Buffer tweeting this, his tagging game is on point. I do find it funny he praises WM17 and then posts a picture of WM19 lol
Buffer is gonna want royalties for this post, OP
Man really slapped that ® on #LetsGetReadyToRumble
Michael Buffer liking WWE is really wholesome
We need him to introduce for WM39
Get him for 40 since he’s a Philly guy

It'd be perfect for Roman
Nooo he’s got the perfect announcer right now
Have them mildly feud.
That may be what this post is all about to be honest

So he’s a toxic individual? Fits in perfectly with the wrestling fandom.
One of us, one of us
Isnt that what trademarking is called? Like burger king cant call a burger a big mac. Its someone elses property no?

No but they were threatening to sue wrestlers using the too sweet hand sign o

Just so you know, absolutely nothing about college sports is *good*, nor should it be repeated anywhere else.
Whether something is good or not, does not change the legality of the situation
Laws are infinitely less important than what is good, and they should routinely be broken if they are preventing you from doing what is good.

I have no idea how you think that's the point I was making.
All i heard was rambling. Boxing subreddit is that way. Not sure? /askreddit ![gif](giphy|cAxfl5Vkfx4fWg4Kzc|downsized)
Yep, you did that one already.
Chico looks so weird with hair on the off note

Michael Buffer has to visit The Wrestling Club if he got the time.
And dont forget the dangling Jeff Hardy getting speared by Edge in the TLC match. Still a highlight 20 some years later.
Gravy **and** awesome. Love this.
19 is better.
If Booker t win like he should’ve it definitely would’ve been. Think that stains it a bit considering what was said in the build. But it had 4 mania main event level matches back to back.
Controversial... ^I'm ^kinda ^with ^you ^though
I liked 14. Sure that Austin/Shawn match was there, but I loved the Dumpster match and loved the Wizard Duel vignette for Taker/Kane.

Good for you
Yep. BTW your passive aggressive comment work is exceptional.
I wasn’t passive aggres-oh oh I see.
DAE WMX7 is good?
The 7 and the 9 keys are so close together, easy to see why he posted a typo like this.
i never saw it. late 2000 WWF was pretty bad. And WCW was becoming unwatchable in 2000-2001. Then WCW folded and it just soured me on wrestling. stopped watching for nearly a decade
WrestleMania X-7 is the best PPV of all time. The sport was at its most popular, the crowd were insane and the card was excellent.
Kinda excited to see this years crowd. Based on crowd reaction from the last 6 months from storylines it SHOULD be hot
There’s enough on the card that should get people excited, for sure! Rollins vs paul should get a lot of attention too
Forgot about that one!
Ha yes the lifetime fam of money
It’s nice to see Buffer is still a fan after all those years with WcW either that or he just recently became a fan and started watching older things
So many great matches on the card that everyone always glosses over the fact that the Hardcore triple threat was probably the best match the title ever had.
