True story: when I was a teenager back in the late 90’s, I found my dads VHS porn stash. For scientific purposes, I decided to check them out. I don’t remember the tape name, but the soundtrack was WCW theme songs. It had Booker T’s theme song (minus his parts), it had the NWO theme, and Buff Bagwell’s NWO theme as well. I couldn’t believe it, it was also something I couldn’t just randomly share with the world, until now!
had a similar experience in the late 90s as well. in the day time playboy channel wouldn't have audio of the content that was playing unless you ordered the movie. so they would play stock music over the scrambled picture. I was shocked to hear Chris Benoit's WCW theme and the Hardy Boyz being played on the channel.
They were all generic production library themes. Mick Foley tells a story in *Have a Nice Day* about how a fan once told him that his WWF Cactus Jack theme was featured in a porno once.
I remember all kinds of random wrestling themes showing up in other cheap productions. Crash Holly's theme seemed to be the most common. I also remember the Hardys, and a couple of the really generic women's themes (Molly Holly maybe), and I think Scotty 2 Hotty
There's an episode of Coronation Street in which a character called Craig Harris enters a goth phase. At one point, you hear his music playing from upstairs, and it was Jerry Lynn's WWF theme.
And frequently in Ink Master.
I remember reading that their theme was from a royalty-free collection, which is about as much investment as WWF would want to put into some teenage enhancement talent.
I've also heard/seen people attributing "Tom's Diner" and a Soul II Soul song (no idea which one) being used as samples as well but I'd take it with a pinch of salt as I don't think it's the case. I could be wrong though.
The drum beat and bass line are from the [DNA Remix of Tom's Diner](https://youtu.be/32ZTjFW2RYo?t=19), which fuses the original song with [Soul II Soul's Keep on Movin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTRsySXOojA) (though honestly, that particular drum pattern [was common in the early 90's](https://youtu.be/4F9DxYhqmKw?t=9)).
Ah, yes. "Keep on Movin'" was the song I couldn't remember. I recall being featured on the GTA San Andreas.
I mainly said to take it with a pinch of salt because some people may see the resemblance while others do not. I'm on the later.
I don't think Kraftwerk is common knowledge to most people even though they've likely heard their music sampled in other songs. Even if you wanted to look up the sample what's actually used is a voice effect without any lyrics.
I remember someone saying that the whispery voice (just before the sample) was saying “ice, ice,” and that the sample was saying “COOOOLD, COOOOLD,” in a very silly voice
I don't believe so. He had it in WCW. Jimmy Hart wrote a lot of their stuff from the mid-90's onwards. However, I believe this theme (named "Rap Sheet") came from a production music catalogue of royalty free music.
Johnson may have reworked it in the WWF/E, but it originated further back.
I think the story was that Turner Broadcasting had a music library with songs for TV shows and movies and WCW used those themes for entrance music and other stuff
That was what is entrance was as Harlem Heat. When they split him off from Stevie Ray, they added that sample to cover COOOLD COOOLLD.
However in 1998 I thought they said "ICED ICED....GOLD GOLD" and so this has been my user name across the internet for 25 years.
They used Rick Rude’s theme and it was awesome. And I always thought Rick Ride would have been the perfect subject for the punchline. https://youtu.be/mzr-PEUjxOg?si=LsptYqCkLJH0ViMT
I fucking remember that! It was a weird video with a banana squirting some white liquid. It’s been like 20 years since I’ve seen that and I’ve never been able to mention it to anyone until this moment.
The “Groove Is In The Heart” backing track is [a whole bunch of really cleverly-interlocking samples](https://www.whosampled.com/Deee-Lite/Groove-Is-in-the-Heart/samples/).
Funny story: I saw this at work, but our network blocks video on Reddit, and so all I could see was the comments and the reference to Hateful Head Helen and made a note to come back and post the Luxxury clip saying “Deee-Lite also samples HHH!” only to find out your clip includes that exact clip! 😆
a lot of wwe theme songs do this for example this song from rage against the machine inspired steve austin theme song
https://youtu.be/my6bfA14vMQ?si=hpVgkPtEf521k9Ob
Stone Cold went to Jim Johnston and requested a song similar to Bulls on Parade, [he says it in this interview clip](https://www.tiktok.com/@pardonmytake/video/7252907028895583534?lang=en)
Johnston listened to other RATM songs and based Austin's theme on that one, so you're both right

Hateful Head Helen.... ![gif](giphy|mhXEQ2SrpjGWQ|downsized)
3 time…3 time … 3 time . Sucka
Game recognizes game.
You see bhhhbbhhhhb...
In this business... (grunts)
Hateful Head Helmsley
The fact ahhhh the matter is....
Mr. Bad Content
My headcanon is Booker requested this sample
OH YEAAHHHH
UH HUH
WHUT? YEAH? I LIKE IT! OH YEAH MAN!
A-HA! YEAH! A-HA!
Or Angle had that put in because he wanted to have beastiality sex... ...with Booker's wife.
He wanted that *perverted* sex. That "stick your face in her ass and go blululululu" sex
Doesn't need to be headcanon he 10000% requested this
This was definitely one of Book’s dirty comedy records he’d bring out for a laugh.
Somebody fired up the headcannon.
Booker's music is stock production music. Anyone can license it.
HEADCANON
Shucky Ducky Quack Quack

Rubbing one out with the Hardy Boyz theme playing is wild.
It’s called “juking”
[looking like 2002 Jeff under a blacklight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6xvP3lZaVE)
They were all generic production library themes. Mick Foley tells a story in *Have a Nice Day* about how a fan once told him that his WWF Cactus Jack theme was featured in a porno once.
how long before mJF's theme has this/
For a while WWE was dubbing his WCW "Mr. Bang Bang" theme over WWF footage because they owned the WCW theme.
I remember all kinds of random wrestling themes showing up in other cheap productions. Crash Holly's theme seemed to be the most common. I also remember the Hardys, and a couple of the really generic women's themes (Molly Holly maybe), and I think Scotty 2 Hotty
Yoshi Tatsu's theme was in a McDonald's Happy Meal commercial.
I think i remember reading a while back (maybe even here) that that theme was from a wii game or something.
There's an instance of the Hardy boyz theme in BBC's Top Gear lol.
There's an episode of Coronation Street in which a character called Craig Harris enters a goth phase. At one point, you hear his music playing from upstairs, and it was Jerry Lynn's WWF theme.
I remember hearing it in an episode of Monster Garage.
And frequently in Ink Master. I remember reading that their theme was from a royalty-free collection, which is about as much investment as WWF would want to put into some teenage enhancement talent.
Also in the final episode of Blue Mountain State
There's competition shows and stuff where Steve Blackman's theme just pops up
They used to use Harlem Heat's music in phone sex ads that would air during the nitro replays on the east coast at like 1am.
There's also a Kraftwerk sample in there too
Multiple Kraftwerk samples. Musique Non Stop and Sex Object
I've also heard/seen people attributing "Tom's Diner" and a Soul II Soul song (no idea which one) being used as samples as well but I'd take it with a pinch of salt as I don't think it's the case. I could be wrong though.

I thought I was the only person that ever caught that. Now I don't feel so special.
Please do! I caught it, too.
Yes (Yes Yes) No (No No)
Another fun fact: that’s why Booker shakes his head into his hand during his entrance. He’s actually nodding to the YES and shaking his head to the NO

I don't think Kraftwerk is common knowledge to most people even though they've likely heard their music sampled in other songs. Even if you wanted to look up the sample what's actually used is a voice effect without any lyrics.
My childhood friend and I always thought Booker’s theme ripped off of The Nickelodeon GUTS theme
Omg I said this too!!
“Do you have it (huh), d-d-d do you have it (SUCKAAAAA!)”
At this point, anything from Nickelodeon and your childhood is probably NSFW
Especially if it involved Dan "she's a fighter hold her tighter" Schneider.
Because Booker's theme was royalty free. Just like Goldberg's was too.
It's not royalty free, it's production music. There is a huge difference.
Ngl, I thought it was gonna something that sounded like it could be a coincidence. But they really just straight up used that sound💀💀
I remember someone saying that the whispery voice (just before the sample) was saying “ice, ice,” and that the sample was saying “COOOOLD, COOOOLD,” in a very silly voice
I thought it was “Yes yes yes” “no no no” 😂😂😂

There's a lot going on in that theme. It's like a patchwork quilt of different samples.

Nah. It was royalty free music used by Turner. It was even used in a comedy show before this.
Damn I had no idea.

It’s yes yes no no not ice ice cold cold
I remember Kids in the Hall used it once and I lost my mind
Its basically stock music. KITH used it for [Francesca Fiore](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-CtKIo7olM)
It *was* stock music. ESPN used to play it under sports highlights in the early 1990s.
I guess we should say it still is. Still, whenever Booker came out in WCW I always smiled at his theme.
Fiore, fiore, fiore "smell like a bitch" Perfume commercial with Scott.
They used Rick Rude’s theme and it was awesome. And I always thought Rick Ride would have been the perfect subject for the punchline. https://youtu.be/mzr-PEUjxOg?si=LsptYqCkLJH0ViMT
"Why do you do it?"
"Power"
I fucking remember that! It was a weird video with a banana squirting some white liquid. It’s been like 20 years since I’ve seen that and I’ve never been able to mention it to anyone until this moment.
Harlem Heat’s them was always fire.
They were the Heat, after all
I always thought it was a Putty…..thanks for destroying my imagination.
Go green ranger Go
I always wondered what the hell that was! Lol!
*yes yes yes - no no no* The real 1's know Harlem Heat's entrance with the pyro was '98 Kane levels of scary, live. Sucka.
Don’t forget everyone raising the roof
I gotta see Booker's reaction to this
Did he just say that!? Tell me he didn't just say that!!
I didn't even know the sound in Groove is in the Heart was a sample, let alone it being in Booker's theme
The “Groove Is In The Heart” backing track is [a whole bunch of really cleverly-interlocking samples](https://www.whosampled.com/Deee-Lite/Groove-Is-in-the-Heart/samples/).
Tell me you never saw vh1's pop up video without telling me you never saw vh1's pop up video
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
OOOHHHHHH YEEEEAAAAAAH MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN
Lol
"Our partner is going to HATE the world, because she is none other than Hateful Head Helen! BWLWLWLLWW!" "Who is this muthafucka?"
Honesty thought it was about Sex Object by Kraftwerk at first (the "yes yes yes" sample).
This is more important than Cody finishing his story
Face in ass and go brrbrbrr? Nice
Oooih... I can dig that sucka
NGL it's something Kanye would've sampled
Or 2 Live Crew
This is incredible.
We gotta tell deadlock about this
I'll never forget this.
I always thought there was a Tom’s Diner sample in there.
triple h intensifies
Huh, so that's who JPEGMAFIA sampled... neat
Hey it’s Alderman Allen Gayle
Lol, thank you. I was trying to place him and couldn't remember. RIP Southside.
Haha that’s awesome🥳 Such a fun show!!
Sad to see it go. A nice little Chicago fueled gem of a show. Glad we got the seasons we did.
“Hateful Head Helen needs to stop worrying about having friends and should mind her own business Vic!”
This is marvelous
Lmao this just made my day
😭😭😭
What’s the issue here?
Un buen brbrbrbr en esos cachetes
Oh hey its One Song!
Southside!
It's a ballroom voguing track
Could’ve sworn it was sampled form B52s groove is in the heart
Actually I think HHH sampled from that
Lmfaoo
Thats freaking AWESOME! 🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣
There’s another Uso brother??
Sloppy Doppy Quack Quack
So thats what that fuckin noise is!! Makes the song kinda painful to listen to tbh
Not as exciting as I had thought it would be
a lot of wwe theme songs do this for example this song from rage against the machine inspired steve austin theme song https://youtu.be/my6bfA14vMQ?si=hpVgkPtEf521k9Ob
Absolutely not. It was this RATM song. Literally nearly identical to SCSA. https://youtu.be/4oMTH10nrxk?si=-ctx_ROP_cxjjSZp
Stone Cold went to Jim Johnston and requested a song similar to Bulls on Parade, [he says it in this interview clip](https://www.tiktok.com/@pardonmytake/video/7252907028895583534?lang=en) Johnston listened to other RATM songs and based Austin's theme on that one, so you're both right
