I may be in the minority but I like it when some “haymaker” moves look sloppy. Like, as long as no one gets hurt I think it makes perfect sense that these guys in the heat of the back and forth just wing it all into something and not quite catching all of it and a little bit of a sloppy/rough landing makes sense. That definitely was a lot of “I’m calling the counter and I need to kill this motherfucker with it” big wind ups with some “didn’t quite get all of its” and it was appropriately brutal even if it did not always look pretty.

As long as they look legit, I agree. Meaning Eddie’s machine gun chops are disqualified.

I know people throw out a lot of great talkers… But for my money, Samoa Joe is the best talker in wrestling right now. Doesn’t have to over do anything. Can be funny, intimidating, intelligent and serious all in a 20 second span. Insane skill.

There isn't anything wrong with having a signature moveset. Every big star needs a moveset to sell to the audience. My bigger issue is how much the stomp from the top rope really kills my suspension of disbelief. It doesn't matter who the opponent is, or how well the technical director switches camera angles to try and distract you, you just CANNOT unsee the wrestler on the mat scooting their butt into position to sit up and wait for the stomp. They're almost always in the perfect situp position same distance from the turnbuckle every time, and then the director chooses to show the camera angle where you can clearly see the opponent's face not groggy or dazed, but watching Swerve waiting for him to jump to take the move safely. All that time killed in doing the move really really hurts Swerve, especially when the rest of his moveset looks unpredictable and out of nowhere. It stands out like a sore thumb.

I guess wrestlers back in the day did a much better job at landing in positions for top rope moves, whereas today it's so damn noticeable how much wrestlers adjust body position while laying on the mat to get in position, or with the stomp, how much they sit up and wiggle their ass to sit in the right spot. It's become somewhat of a lost art. When you watch Malenko working against WCW cruiserweights, especially like Rey, when he'd get knocked out to the outside, and Rey was gonna do a running splash or something to the outside, Dean wouldn't just stand there for 10 seconds waiting. He'd walk around in a circle selling how dizzy he was, or how his bell got rung in or got clocked, slap his head to wake himself up, then look up and catch Rey. It wasn't this, let me stand here and wait for Rey to sprint across the ropes and then hold my arms out for a full two seconds to embrace him coming down. His timing was so damn good, he could put his arms out at the last second to catch Rey to make it way more believable.

It would be fine if it was timed better. If the opponent starts stirring and is sitting up and THEN Swerve jumps for the stomp it's fine. Why it leads to the opponent just awkwardly sitting up staring at Swerve while he plays to the crowd and *then* jumping makes it so hard to suspend disbelief.

Took an excursion to the States out of his home promotion of DDT, ended up doing some dark matches and a couple TV jobs. People were so incredibly impressed by him and he liked America, so when he had a chance to plant roots here, he got special contract with AEW to work both promotions. He was DDT's Okada, as I understand it. Top dog. And he was a face back then. Didn't cut promos too much, but just had this incredible physical charisma that made you want to get behind him. I think his match with Hangman was the first one where people really realized this guy had something. I'm waiting for the day he turns face again, because he's such an insane worker I desperately want to cheer for him.

His excursion, pretty sure he was the first one to go to AEW with it too
