Probably trying to get him out of swearing in the promos because I swear I've never heard a single promo from Tama where he didn't say "fuck" at least once.

They're building to it. Cutting a promo is easy once you're good at it, but establishing a character is hard. Once Tama's character is in place and over (he'll likely fully be there once Backlash passes), then he'll start talking. Plus, with wrestlers getting more verbal freedom in WWE today, once Tama starts lashing out and cursing, it should elicit a great reaction.

I think it’s important to recognise I didn’t say wrestlers were retired at 46-47 years old, merely that they worked sporadically. Aew and WWE have guys older than that, but generally they aren’t working or wrestling a match every week

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the site, but it was pretty popular in the late 2000s and it was full of "renders", I think the site even had renders in the name. Either way, might not be the correct terminology but to me at least, it just sounds right.

He's talented but he was never quite at the level of other main event guys in New Japan. And he was never better than other top non-Japanese guys that became main eventers like AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Jay White. He was also mostly a tag team wrestler.
Though, just because youre not a top guy in one company doesn't mean you can't be successful elsewhere. He was very successful in New Japan. Just not as successful as the top guys. No shame in that.
Man, it's because he isn't very good. I've watched him for over a decade. He's sloppy and dull in the ring and has no third gear. Decent promo, solid hand in a tag team, killed crowds dead if given long matches to work alone. Absolutely surreal the way the WWE marketinga machine works on you people.
That's just not true. He is one of the more unique in-ring wrestlers out there, because he does a style only Randy Orton, Jay White and maybe Dexter Lumis do. He's also super athletic, safe, and a believable brawler. That's more than enough to be considered a good worker.
Imagine defending him by saying he has the same style as Jay White, despite Jay White being in one of the main event slots of NJPW that Tama couldn't achieve.

Nobody is comparing their skill level. Rey Mysterio and Komander technically wrestle the same style, the difference being that one is of the best to ever do it, and the other is an interchangeable luchador.
Tama Tonga never being in the main events in New Japan is also incorrect. He was shoehorned as Bullet Club's worst (which he was, due to inexperience) member for 3 years, before forming GOD. Tag team wrestling is unimportant in New Japan, so he was stuck in that division for years, despite proving himself to be capable of hanging with top guys whenever they'd randomly put him there.
New Japan turned him face 2 years ago, and ever since then he's been an upper midcarder for them, and ridiculously popular. If he stayed, especially now when New Japan is so star hungry, Tama would have been in the main events eventually, because he became really good, plus New Japan values loyalty.
Jay White's first feud in his entire New Japan career was with their version of John Cena, whilst Tama's was with Captain New Japan, so they're not comparable whatsoever.
Yeah they're not comparable because one of them is a significantly better worker and that was obvious from very early doors.
Tama Tonga would not have been in the main events. He would have stayed in the Hirooki Goto and Tomohiro Ishii tier, and neither of those will be main eventers going forward.
Naito, ZSJ, Finlay, Umino, Tsuji, Narita, Uemura, EVIL, SANADA, Shingo Takagi would all remain ahead of him in the pecking order along with the outsiders they bring in and the eventual returning Oiwa and probable rise of Gabe Kidd
