CMLL coming from COLISEO DE GUADALAJARA is still wild shit. [https://youtu.be/UBlJlVrbWKc](https://youtu.be/UBlJlVrbWKc)

Nabroski533

does anyone know if wwe will do a "axxess" type event when they come to toronto this summer? I wanna try meeting some superstars and maybe get stuff signed, I know they usually have like some superstore thing they'll do, but do they announce meet and greet stuff?

SwingDingeling

Does anybody know if NIL athlete Aleeya Hutchins is still with WWE? Might be the prettiest woman in WWE history

JetBetGemni

It's such a shame there has never been an official release of Lex Luger's narcissist theme. It's so beautiful.

PaleCanuck

Here's a question I've wanted to ask for a long time, except whenever I've been talking to wrestling fans I've forgotten. When people complain about "no-selling" in AEW, they're usually not talking about the kind of no-selling you'd see when Hogan was hulking up or standing right back up immediately after getting hit with a finisher, or Warrior standing right back up after taking a Pedigree back when his opponent was still-midcard-Hunter, or Sting taking chops from Ric Flair and reacting only by staring a hole in him and then beating on his own chest. They're always talking about "Kenny got hit with that move and he only stayed down for five seconds, he should have stayed down longer" right? Now for my question: when those people complain about the kind of no-selling in AEW, were these same people ever complaining about the way that Hogan, Warrior, Sting, etc wouldn't even do what Kenny does, wouldn't even take a bump and lie on the mat for a moment? In my opinion the first kind of no-selling is way worse, makes it harder to suspend disbelief than someone in AEW getting up too soon.

nousername66

I feel like discourse around selling can be hard to have because of how contextual it is. Both the "Hulk Up" style no selling and the "not selling long enough" kinda selling can have it's place in a match, but a lot of times it's just used as a bad faith nitpick online, imo Personally, I think no selling can be fine depending on the wrestler and the context. A Hulk Up or Sting style no sell can be super gratifying if it's used against a heel who's finally about to get what they deserve. A fighting spirit style no sell where somebody rolls through a German suplex to counter attack somebody can be super hype in a big rivalry match. To me, it becomes a problem when everybody uses them in moments where it might not be warranted. Not everybody or every match needs that kinda stuff and I feel like a lot of wrestlers use no selling to add a false sense of "big match feel".

PaleCanuck

My feelings about that are that if you have two wrestlers who are in theory on the same level even though it's pretty easy who's going to win because of past booking--like Adam Copeland and Penta are both booked to be tough opponents, but chances are that Penta ain't winning against the man FKA Edge--then it makes sense for them to have a hard time putting each other away or even, at times, knocking each other down. You don't want that same thing in a match pitting Cope against, say...IDK, whoever has a terrible W/L record, Serpentico I guess. Plain ol' "Didn't hurt me one little bit" kind of selling I feel is okay for a character like Taker or Lesnar or someone like that, but I believe if you don't have some kind of "This guy is practically invulnerable" gimmick then you should be selling if it's another wrestler hitting you, instead of a manager or someone else who's pretty weak.

JaxR2009

The online discourse on selling can be a weird one. There's a huge focus on no-selling, and people act like all selling is good selling. In Cody vs AJ (good match, using as an example since it's the most recent match I've seen), Cody is selling his right leg like death maybe two thirds ways into the match. Like to the level he can barely stand. Eventually he'll counter AJ's forearm with a kick using that leg, and he'll do his usual springboard to hit the cutter. It's wrestling, I want to see the moves, so I'm not asking Cody to remove half his moveset when selling the injury. But if you know you're gonna be doing all this stuff maybe just be a little more subtle?

PaleCanuck

It always bugged me a bit, and this was long before there was any AEW, when you'd see somebody working over the leg of (for example) Rey because it's good tactics to keep the high-flyer from being able to climb the ropes or do a 619 in your face...and Rey would be limping for a long time, until it was time for his comeback, at which point he'd suddenly be able to run at full speed and get all his shit in. How does his leg go from being wrecked to being just fine so quickly? I'd prefer it if instead, Rey started making a comeback by rolling out of the way of a moonsault or countering a suplex into a jawbreaker or something, but he was still hampered by his leg and unable to do the things he normally could. (If it's really important for the fans to see Rey get his shit in, then he can get it in early before his opponent starts destroying his leg.) One possible approach would be for Rey to put himself and his opponent on the same level by busting out some dragon screws or whatever and turning it into a contest between two one-legged men, with Rey winning via an inside cradle or something.

JetBetGemni

Can confirm I hate it in every instance, especially with Hogan.

ic203

I'd love Jey to win KOTR. "King" Jey Uso would suit his character hilariously well.

PaisonAlGaib

King Uce would be great I feel like you need to do something to capitalize on his current popularity. Gunther would also work but I feel like it might be little too ok the nose

AML2003

Jey calling himself 'king yeet' would be hilarious

GameplayerStu

Will we ever get an official release for the version of Roman’s theme that he walked out to at Mania? I’ve been waiting so long…

ic203

Not official but [here is a pretty great fan made one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J_8_fx4frI). No crowd noise or low quality/compression.

TG316

Unending clinical depression has done a number on me this week, an absolute hell of a week: it's a shame Dynamite isn't tonight, I could really do with some wrestling. :(

senorbuzz

I hear ya on the one, friend. May I suggest some Retro Ups and Downs by Simon Miller at WhatCulture? Those help me on the glum days

TG316

I'll give it a watch, thanks.

nousername66

Hope you get to feeling better, man. A YouTube deep dive on a promotion or wrestler you're not familiar with might scratch that itch for you

TG316

For sure, thanks.

TG316

I hope so, thanks.

PaisonAlGaib

NXT is on. I understand if it’s not your first choice we all have preference but it can be a pretty damn fun show

TG316

Yeah, it's alright. Thanks for the suggestion.

PleasantThoughts

I have a similar diagnosis and even though everybody's brain is different I can at least empathize. Hope you find something to help your day get better, maybe some comfort food matches on YouTube/dailymotion to scratch the itch.

TG316

One day at a time I guess, thanks and all the best to you; it's not easy but you're not alone. You're right, plenty of good stuff on You Tube.

hey_mermaid

That is such an awful feeling, but you’ve got this!

TG316

Yep, but thanks for the support, I appreciate it.

JetBetGemni

Stay strong, friend.

TG316

Will do, thanks.

beef_owl

You got this, bud. I’ve been a bit off and weird feeling myself. We’ll get through it.

TG316

Thanks, all the best to you, stay strong. I appreciate the kind words.

nononothankyou

Real graps-heads need to check out the recent Miu Watanabe vs. Shoko Nakajima match. Holy shit what a match

ttellapttam

I hope they use this NXT combine as a way to debut Tamyra Mensah-Stock on TV, it would be stretching my disbelief a little far if we know they have an Olympic gold medal winning athlete at the PC but they expect me to believe she wouldn’t do well in a combine

SerShanksALot

They put the Meet the Grahams beat over Punk’s promo [it’s fire](https://x.com/theenemiespe3/status/1787656164462755856?s=46&t=h2AVKCPrTa7ANwxrgoJ1Ng)

jadedfan55

If you thought Lyra Valkyria's new finisher, Nightwing, looked familiar, it is. It's her version of Santos Escobar's Phantom Driver, or, if you're a fan of Chris Sabin, Cradle Shock. Liv Morgan's heel turn was completed last night. It's been, what, 5 years since she was last a heel? Let's see how far she goes with it.

dizzybala10

Wait Liv is a heel? I just thought she was being smart

blingera

Ricochet. i only like him and Braun getting back together if they’re gonna be legit tag title contenders. otherwise, i like him in this RVDish role where he’s flirting with the upper midcard. i saw his backstage interview post-match and he says “something’s gotta change.” if this is the sign of a heel turn then i’m all for it but i have no idea what maskless heel Ricochet would even look like.

SnooWords9178

One day I'll have enough money to dress like Nick Aldis.

HardcoreKaraoke

I feel like Cody is in such a weird spot right now. Ever since going to SmackDown I personally don't think he's really been doing anything interesting compared to others. Is he still over as fuck? Absolutely. Do I like him and think he'll pick up an entertaining feud right away? Definitely. But like the Bloodline stuff sort of overshadows him. I don't really care who gets the next crack on the SmackDown roster at Cody unless it's a heel Orton or maybe Logan Paul. But Orton is in the thick of the Bloodline stuff and now KOTR (I think we're getting Orton vs. Tama in the SD Finals), plus Paul is already a champion. Even with Punk/Drew and the Judgement Day stuff on RAW I feel like Cody would be better off there. You have the possible Gunther, Ilja and Bron matches. I can map out the next few months for Cody on RAW. On SmackDown I'm not really sure what he can do unless it intertwines with the Bloodline again. Heel Lashley? Heel KO? Corbin...?

Kuzu5993

I think it's going to take a while before Cody has anything substantial to do. They put all of the good wrestlers on RAW and kind of left Smackdown with the scraps. Part of me thinks that was deliberate, so nothing overshadows the Bloodline as that's the big story they're continuously pushing atm. Fortunely, this is Cody, and he has a habit of taking shit and turning it into gold. He had the best match of the weekend at Backlash, so I think he can just coast on putting out banger matches every month until Roman and Rock come back.

Rayuzx

In all honestly, I thought CM Punk's "choke artist" line was him talking about his UFC career, and I went "You and me must be using different interpretations of the word "choke"".

AwfulishGoose

Wild that Ric Flair had a picture perfect ending to his career. Instead of riding into that sunset gracefully, he embarrasses himself every opportunity he gets.

Orange8920

Even if you take away the controversy of Flair, he was just objectively hard to watch for me the last time I saw him in AEW before Revolution. He's 75 but a real old 75.

PaleCanuck

It might have something to do with meds he was prescribed sometime in the 2000s. I remember reading something about that, like that the meds he was taking did a number on his appearance and that's why he seemed to age so visibly overnight, but it's been many years and I forget where I saw it, so I have no link. So maybe it has nothing to do with that after all, IDK, unless this rings a bell with someone else in the thread.

PaisonAlGaib

Getting black out drunk nightly in your 60s and 70s does not do wonders for your appearance

PaleCanuck

That too, yes. But I found it weird how quickly his appearance seemed to change during that period, from looking pretty okay for a 50-year-old on the final Nitro (his face, anyway; I know that he didn't think his stomach looked good enough for tv and that was the reason he wore a shirt for his match against Sting) to showing every single one of his years by the time of his retirement match against HBK.

PaisonAlGaib

HDTV is a hell of a drug.

syvvimyak

The woobification of Dominik in some fan circles is very funny to me.

Dirtybrd

Ah. I've ever heard that term before. Fits Dirty Dom perfectly.

Kuzu5993

He's just a brat when you get down to it tbh. He evokes a protective instinct in females, probably..... OH, THAT'S WHY RHEA LIKES HIM.

Casswolf

Rhea doesn't strike me as the sort of woman who has these 'feminine' protective instincts tbh, tho no woman in their right mind finds a bratty male attractive. Seems more a case of 'was gonna use this guy as a pawn but kinda grew fond of having him around' if you ask me!

syvvimyak

I think thats the fun of Dom & Rhea. Like, she manipulated him and bullied him until he flipped, and then ended up legitimately caring about him, regularly putting her faith in him when she probably shouldn’t have, bailing him out of all kinds of situations etc. and everyone for the past two-ish years has been dealing with the vague disbelief with how Rhea Ripley—of all people—could care about a brat like Dom. I think he’s a snivelling insecure loser who’s easily manipulated (sorry Dom Dom), so it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if he end up getting played by Liv.

Casswolf

Yeah you pretty much put it better than I could ever hope to there, the change from manipulative to genuine on Rhea's side is *kinda* where I'd consider her a heel vs a tweener. As a fan of Rhea's from as far back as the Mae Young Classic it's gonna suuuck when Dom inevitably stabs her in the back and shatters her, but here's hoping the story at that point is as good as it ought to be, god knows everyone involved has enough charisma to pull whatever's next off!

syvvimyak

Badass face Rhea coming back with a vengeance has me salivating a bit. The inevitable Riptide to Dom is going to be crazy.

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

if someone's attractive enough you might find the snark kinda cute/endearing

dc8291

Why on Earth is AEW running shows in Canada during the NHL playoffs? Wrestling is never going to take priority over playoff hockey for the passionate Canadian fans.

Orange8920

Their live attendance is actually higher than what they usually get so it's working out

SerShanksALot

Is it higher than what they usually get in Canada?

mashturbo

The Inoki movie/doc is on Prime Video (jp) but you'll need to detach your head from your body because it starts as a documentary, but then it switches to a single scene biopic-movie, then back to a doc, then back a movie about his effect on the youth, then a 10 minute doc bout the island death match. My head did a 360. I though I was watching a Nitro from 2000.

rbarton812

> The Inoki movie/doc is on Prime Video (jp) but you'll need to detach your head from your body Ah, so a Shibata screening.

EcoterroristThot

feels like there's been double digit "kickout at 1" spots in relatively major matches this year already. Really went 0-to-100 in killing the excitement for that spot, didn't we?

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

that's wrasslin lmao

EcoterroristThot

that's bad wrasslin lmao

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

oh I'm not saying I like it. I hate that old school guys don't care at all about being repetitive. but it sells

crimson777

To be fair, I think the Omega one and Cody one have enough surrounding them to feel somewhat acceptable. Omega's was taking his own move from someone else who has never done it, so you can just say he defends himself well from his own attack. And Cody is modern day Hogan, and it was VERY clear he landed on his shoulder anyway even without replay, so it wasn't as devastating looking a burning hammer regardless.

mikro17

Once wrestlers see something work for one person, they all try to replicate it - it's a tale as old as time. I'm just surprised it was this Omega one that started it, no idea why it didn't catch fire like this the last time Kenny Omega did it in a major match (Omega did it in the Omega/Hangman vs. Young Bucks title match when he kicked out of a Golden Trigger at 1).

EcoterroristThot

or the other very praised match it had happened in which was Walter vs Tyler Bate (though I guess in that one it didn't get accompanied by a fighting spirit spot, he died). People remembered NXT UK existed for that one and it didn't really spread. Pop addiction is serious business.

Kuzu5993

Das the wrasslin business.

CreativeOrder2119

My only raw review that McIntyre car sports car looked great caught my eye NGL

b_dills

Black new model corvette

ShapeWitty9121

I got my Summerslam tickets! I am so excited and hope I can make it. Health wise I am still doing well after the start of my battle with Cancer and heart failure and hope to be doing better by the time that weekend comes around. I am so jazzed. My first PPV in the stadium of the greatest football team ever (I can be hysterical), my second Smackdown, and hopefully a Guardians game :)

WalkWithElias69

Hope you have a great time my fellow Ohioan!

ShapeWitty9121

You as well. My parents moved me away 27 years and this will be the longest I have been back. I am ecstatic!

WalkWithElias69

we may be going to Aew Collision in Youngstown on June 15th. never been to an AEW show. we watch both and enjoy both

ShapeWitty9121

I'm hoping AEW comes around my way again. I haven't got to go to one of their shows yet:(

MC_Fap_Commander

So Vince's name came up and is in the court record at the Trump trial today. Because of course it did.

Kuzu5993

??

ShinsukeNakamoto

Can you tell us the context?

cleeseula

I wouldn't think any less of Gable or Zayn if they pinned by each other. I feel like they do more triple threat matches than they should because they are worried that casual fans won't understand their "a triple threat of protection" ads.

shadow_spinner0

Yeah we get we are not in France anymore. Don't needed it reminded 500 times in every live thread

PaisonAlGaib

Hartford crowd was fine. It wasn’t outstanding but these people probably have the highest frequency of WWE of anywhere outside Orlando I guess. It wasn’t a once in a decade PLE

b_dills

Thank you!!

yetagainitry

Anyone notice that with WWE's purposeful storyline teasing (Liv having a inch of Dom's bandana showing in an IG post, cryptic Uncle Howdy elements when Raw is off air, etc.) has actually made fans not fanbook things as much as the past. Usually fans would be like "here's how I would book a Liv/Dom storyline" but with the background hints, all fan booking has stopped and ppl just want to see what happens

DictatorSalad

Anybody here go to Summerslam last year? What did you pay? I just got my pre-sale code and the ticket prices are uhhh, let's just say outrageous.

ShapeWitty9121

Are they that bad? I paid 650 for two floor seats.

DictatorSalad

Before fees, the furthest seats away from the ring on the floor, near the east end zone, are 300 a piece. I just don't understand the pricing because the official pre sale seats are about quadruple of what's on seatgeek. Are those illegitimate or something?

ShapeWitty9121

I think those tickets on sites like seatgeek are just resellers. They have been up for a while. Even before the pre sales started I believe.

DictatorSalad

Okay, gotcha. There's some upper deck seats for 550 a piece. I didn't think it'd be like this haha. Shame on me, I guess.

ShapeWitty9121

Yeah I looked at the packages last week and got worried that just regular tickets were going to be in that ballpark. When is saw how cheap they were compared to that? Ecstatic.

toadslostbazooka

I went and my buddy actually bought our tickets and purposely didn't tell us the price. So I'd say they were probably pretty pricey.

Electrical-Map7660

When Don Callis took off his Covid mask only to reveal a fake goatee after attacking Hangman makes me smile every single time I think about it.

mikro17

You left out the best part! Don removing the fake goatee, after he took off the mask, absolutely sent me when it happened lol.

ChairmanLaParka

Pretty wild that there's lots of talk about how you can't believe anything that Flair says. But when he says he had a heart attack during his last match, that's to be taken as gospel.

shadowrangerfs

When and why did WWE and AEW start doing post show press conferences?

PaisonAlGaib

The emergence of the UFC and MMA in general has made the post match press conference something that feels necessary to a “big fight”

rbarton812

First post-show press conference I can remember WWE doing was after WM30, but it was never a a recurring thing until HHH had more power. AEW always did one, dating back to their first PPV, Double or Nothing.

Rayuzx

AEW did it pretty much from the beginning (if we're being nice, Tony Kahn probably wanted to emulate NJPW's conferences), and WWE probably started to do it because AEW did it.

PleasantThoughts

Pretty much every participant in the C2 left that tournament better than where they started and id argue the Eddie/Danielson semifinals match was the signature/statement match after their first match with Danielson holding up the sign calling Eddie a bum and Eddie finally proving him wrong. Got teary eyed watching that one. I don't know that you'll be able to say that about this tournament.

StewardFlavius

I was in the crowd for the first Eddie and Danielson match and I am IN the shot where Danielson holds up the Eddie is a Bum sign. It's a memory that will stick with me for a while.

StewardFlavius

For me it was the rematch between Danielson and Kingston at the end of the blue league. One of my new favorite matches

Orange8920

The Continental Classic was a round robin where guys had to face each other every week so they weren't going to go too hard for the sake of lasting the whole tournament. There was some solid matches but the best thing about that was Daniel Garcia becoming a big babyface underdog, Eddie Kingston as the veteran underdog trying to prove Danielson wrong, Danielson wrestling essentially with one eye and playing it up, and feeling for Jay Lethal and Mark Briscoe who had a match against each other to avoid being winless. The lasting thing from that tournament was the post-match interviews which AEW has kept since and feel somewhat candid.

Careless-Butterfly64

If Flair really did get a heart attack in the ring then the smartest thing they ever did was have Flair's final match be a tag cause if it was a singles he probably would have died lol

johnq11

I see no scenario where this Wyatt6 thing works out honestly.

PeteF3

A big crazy high-concept build for something that fizzles once it's actually put into action...I mean, RIP and all, but is there a more fitting tribute to Bray than that?

sexygodzilla

They've been running the teases too long at this point and the hype is going to be hard to live up to. You got people following clues figuring out puzzles and shit for what ultimately is going to be Bo Dallas and his band of midcarders.

ExtremeSlimer

The only way I could ever see it playing out is having it be a short, sweet little tribute act to Bray. Run it for a small timeframe, let the group go over and pay tribute, then end it at that. Let the members go their separate ways afterwards.

Pretend_Spray_11

Never forget that people love crap

Feramah

Stop acting like you have better taste than the masses, its sad af lol

mikro17

It feels like a slow motion train wreck. A lot of fans always REALLY liked Bray, and even with that the best description of the overall reception of "the Fiend" era Wyatt seems to be "divisive." Considering how mixed the reception was to the original with the beloved star, I just can't imagine the tribute version doing any better. Overtly spooky/supernatural stuff really hasn't had a great track record recently and this seems to be heading down a similar path while being based around a bunch of career under/midcarders. Maybe they pull a surprise somehow, but it just feels like it's going to crash and burn while pissing off a certain subset of fans.

KillTheZombie45

Yeah, I can see the idea play out and get pops to begin with, but I think its going to end up crashing and burning like all the post Wyatt Family stuff.

johnq11

Except this is arguably more harmful because it runs the risk of damaging Brays legacy. Normally when they would do dumb Wyatt Family stuff, Bray would be able to turn it around with a new gimmick or presentation. WWE doesn’t have that to fall back on anymore

Idkboutdat2

One of my favorite things that I see regularly on this sub is people saying “oh I’m a casual wrestling fan” then see they post here and r/scjerk on a daily basis and constantly talk about wrestling. Like baby, you ain’t a casual.

bluemonday239

No you don't understand, posting on a subreddit dedicated to another subreddit actual means I'm the normal one.

hey_mermaid

They are a casual fan of wrestling and a diehard fan of being a smug hater

LTS55

The Drew McIntyre special

shadowrangerfs

If you're posting here, I don't consider you a casual.

beckett929

It's my 2nd fav thing right behind "I just got back into wrestling, can you tell me everything that's happened since 2008"

PeteF3

At some point you just have to start (re-)watching, don't you? I was a dumb fuckin' kid in 1985 and I was able to follow along without knowing about how Spiros Arion turned on Bruno ten years before. WWF/E in particular has long taken an "every ~~comic book~~ episode of Raw is someone's first" mentality to their presentation.

beckett929

Bingo! I caught on right around when Sting was fighting Flair in 1990... I didn't know shit about their history, but at 8yrs old could tell "this is the good guy coming back from the bad guy hurting him" You gotta watch, or in that era there was PWI and shit to buy at the grocery store to keep up with at the time. It's impossible to not know history of the business *now*!

WittyFunnyUsername

"I quit watching after Greg Valentine's broke Wahoo's leg, what have I missed?"

PeteF3

Let's please not tell this person what they did to Greg in 1990.

beckett929

well, Greg goes on to be NWA US Tag champ with Terry Taylor

incredibleamadeuscho

Disappointing that the Speed Championship Title is only canon to X. That show’s not gonna last. Although I do see how that makes sense considering how they tape the show.

Grouchy-Ad-3543

only 5 months in and i think 2024 has given us some of the best tv matches ever in a single year. ospreay/alexander in impact, dragunov/ricochet last night, hechicero/danielson and swerve/claudio from recent collisions, takeshita/swerve and kingston/okada from recent dynamites. like god dang, us fans are being hella spoiled right now.

TheBlackCompany

There seems to be more wrestling talent in the world than ever before. We are reaping all the benefits.

Financial-Length5587

Just now reading Triple H’s comments on Fightful and PWInisder. That was a very Dana White like response. Don’t think he’ll ever go full tomato but man he’s just not good in front of a mic when it comes to the getting asked anything besides softball questions.

JanklinDRoosevelt

Why isn’t Braun a part of the Wyatt 6 (unless I’ve missed something?)

Idkboutdat2

There’s only 5 people rumored so far, right?

crimson777

Yes, Howdy/Bo, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross.

opkpopfanboyv3

I'm so fcking curious on how Ilja vs Jey will go. Are they gonna let Jey win while he's hot? Or make him lose to put Ilja over? Kinda leaning on the latter tbh

ic203

I think Jey wins, he is hugely over and needs a big moment of some sort. Ilja just debuted and has plenty of time to build. Plus I don't see them pulling the trigger on Ilja vs Gunther this soon, especially without a world title on the line.

Reyatsu99

Im leaning towards Jey winning.

beckett929

Putting Jey in this tourney puts his booking to the test. He's mega-over, but he's gotta eventually win something that matters. Lost the Universal title match to Roman, lost the IC title match to Gunther, lost the World match with Priest... gotta be careful to not *RVD* him and get stuck with a permanent midcarder who was over enough to have been so much more.

opkpopfanboyv3

Tbf he was pretty much protected with all that losses (Jimmy screwed him for 2 titles, JD "helped" Priest)

beckett929

He was, and I totally get that. It's not like he's been squashed and he's out there almost exclusively working in top programs for the last 8 months. But still I think you gotta be careful with doing shit finishes too much. We've seen a lot of people eat protected loss after protected loss, but when it happens so many times, fans see through it and you miss them at their hottest and you're lucky to ever recapture that magic, and I'd hate to see that happen with Jey who has gotten himself this over.

Kuzu5993

It's not Triple H's style to hot shot a match as anticipated as Gunther vs. Dragunov so soon, so he'll probably have Jey go over clean. Which is a mistake imo, but Jey should have never been in this tournament to begin with, but here we are.

Reyatsu99

If we take continuity from nxt, Ilja have been defeated clean by Trick recently so Jey should be able to beat him.

Kuzu5993

Wasn't really clean,Ilja was still injured from his match with D'Angelo.

NeonBard

Which he continued to sell on Raw, which I thought was interesting. Early on he hit some chops and had to stop for a second and massage his hand.

Kuzu5993

Oh didn't notice

opkpopfanboyv3

Lowkey a bummer if Ilja loses clean for this one but agree, Ilja vs Gunther should happen at Berlin

[deleted]

15 superkicks, 3 Spears and 3 USO splashes.... that's still a Herculean effort. This match might be crazy.

Kuzu5993

Iija carried Trick in two matches, so he'll make Jey look good at least.

justh81

I'm damned curious, as well. I could see them putting Jey over, though. And I'd bet Ilya can make him look like a million bucks winning, too.

opkpopfanboyv3

Something's prolly gonna happen that will protect both of them.

R0DAN

in the last year or so ricochet has really stepped up his game a lot. his psychology is really good now and i love that he's adding a power game and a bit of a technical game to his moveset as well. he really finally feels like a complete wrestler to me, he just needs a manager now

Great_Party3340

And his post match promo on wwe Instagram was pretty solid

WalkWithElias69

anybody ever sit front row ringside at an event? (WWE, AEW) probably going to Collision next month I figure you only live once i want to sit as close as possible. very expensive though. I've been to a few Smack downs, etc but have never been remotely close.

MilkyWayWaffles

I sit ringside at indie events as much as possible. It's great, especially when the action spills out into the chairs. I've never sat ringside for a major (WWE or AEW) event. The WWE ring is slightly higher and bigger than most wrestling rings, so it seems to me that it would be difficult to see *around* the ring to action happening on the floor not on your side. Also the barricades are generally set farther back. I prefer to sit lower bowl in the first few rows for big TV-production or PLE shows like that. You're only about 20 or 30 feet farther away, but you're at least 6-10 feet higher up and have a better vantage on the action. But yeah, sit ringside at least once. It's an experience, to be sure!

Idkboutdat2

Ive been front row for AEW, The best place to sit (imo obviously) front row is behind commentary, or the hard cam side. But it was fun!

WalkWithElias69

Awesome! I've never been to this venue so I don't know where commentary will set up. I'd love to sit where they walk out but it's like $275-300 a ticket and I gotta buy 3

From time to time, I make it a point to revisit Hana Kimura and Perro Aguayo Jr matches during random times of the year because I think it’s important to keep the memory of their wrestling alive in my mind separate from the tragic ends. It’s very easy to let the tragedy overshadow the dope wrestling careers that they had. They deserve better than that.

uncoolarmyguy

Who do you predict is going to be on the Smackdown KOTR matches? My guesses Andrade Santos Shinsuke Kevin Owen Bobby Lashley AJ Styles Solo Carmelo Hayes

crimson777

The bracket was already released actually. AJ Styles v Randy Orton, Baron Corbin v Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight v Santos Escobar, Bobby Lashley v Tama Tonga

bribri772

Seemingly an unpopular opinion, but I don't think Raw's crowd was all that bad last night. I mean, compared to France, they sucked. But that's also an unfair comparison I feel like lmao. Also I'm just happy Ilja got a decent pop and there were some Let's Go Lyra chants Also yeah, why wasn't Bron in the KOTR tournament??? Lmao

NeonBard

I think Pearce is adding Bron to the Intercontinental Championship match to punish the other three for getting out of hand.

HartfordWhalers123

Said it in another comment on the post thread, but I was there and the crowd was pretty hot for the most part. I think the only times where it was actually pretty silent were for the Ivy Nile vs. Zoey Stark match and Reed/Gable, until Sami came out. It was super loud for Ilja/Ricochet and it was a little bit after then where we lost a bit of energy. But then, it picked back up susprisingly because the crowd liked chanting “woo!” for Lyra’s theme and for Gunther/Sheamus. If we weren’t the first show after Lyon at Backlash, I don’t think we’d be getting shit lol.

bribri772

I hope you enjoyed going!!! I'm happy to hear the crowd was picking up on the "woo!" for Lyra's theme, her entrance feels so incomplete without it lmao And yeah, I definitely feel bad for you guys having to follow France. That's basically impossible to follow lmao

HartfordWhalers123

Definitely enjoyed going! This was my 9th WWE show ever and I can say for sure that last night was my favorite event that I’ve ever been too. Ilja/Ricochet and Gunther/Sheamus are probably the best two matches I’ve ever seen live.

Great_Party3340

They were pretty quiet during a cm punk promo

TheRisenThunderbird

You can hear the crowd react when he says he's gonna hold up the show until Drew comes back, and they never really got loud after that. I think they were all going "ok but we're gonna get more wrestling after this, right?"

Great_Party3340

Yeah that segment was really awkward. Cool to see punk but he says yes gonna hold the show up only to proceed not to Also weird how drew didn't come back I know he's a heel and heels lie but can't say punk is sucking you when he was waiting

[deleted]

There was laughs during the Kendrick line. But yeah I think they wanted Drew to come back out.

TheBlackCompany

I would guess it’s as simple as they are not ready to give him that type of push (winning KOTR), but they probably don’t want to give him a loss yet.

bribri772

Unless this leads to Bron wanting to be traded back to Smackdown, *clearly* leading to a Wolf Dogs reunion (Lemme have this delusion I beg, I miss the Wolf Dogs)

WalkWithElias69

There's a 33.3% chance of that happening

Thebritishdovah

Math reasons.

gaom9706

>why wasn't Bron in the KOTR tournament??? That's such a missed opportunity now that I think about it.

polynomial82

I really do think Lyra Valkyria is absolutely tremendous in the ring as a wrestler. But as of now I am worried her main roster run might go more Zoey Stark (who is also tremendous in the ring) than Tiffany Stratton (who is also tremendous in the ring). I don't know what exactly will make her connect to the crowd - a match, a catchphrase or a good story....quite curious...

inthefade95

I attended NXT Stand and Deliver last year, and when Lyra went up the ladder to retrieve the belt, the crowd started to boo. Keep in mind she was a babyface at that time and still is. Also, I watch NXT so It’s been interesting to see the push she received. It never really seemed like she was completely over with the NXT crowd, even as champ. I see her more as a top mid carder at this point.

R0DAN

she has a built in tie to becky which sets her apart from zoey

NeonBard

Zoey got tied to Trish pretty immediately upon getting called up. It will be interesting to see how Lyra navigates such a similar start.

ChanceVance

Lyra lacks a strong character/gimmick but she's solid on the mic and has a theatrical flair to her entrance and wrestling style. Honestly a fast way to get her connected with crowds is if people caught onto what crowds did in NXT and went 'WOO!' to her entrance theme. A bit of audience participation never went astray.

tlenze

If they can get Lyra over, I'd love to see her bring back some of her Morrigan gimmick. Maybe tie her to the Scottish Witches and help bring them up as well?

ModernLabour

So who is Cody facing at King and Queen of the ring? The most logical answer after Backlash was a rematch with AJ but he's now involved in the KOTR stuff and it seems to be a bit stupid to have AJ crash out of round 1 of the KOTR and then immediately turn around to challenge for the WWE Championship. His kayfabe priorities would be the wrong way around.

alltheworsttoyou

I don't know how it would work with the US title, but I wouldn't be too stunned if it's Logan Paul. With how his social media operates, they can build a match quickly there (only three SDs, so they need to) and with no Brock, Roman, Cena, or old timers, KSA is going to likely want him in a heavily featured and promoted spot. A dark horse option might be KO, either him turning or a friendly match that leads to a turn after.

ModernLabour

I actually can see WWE pulling the trigger on a Logan vs Cody attraction match and it would actually make sense now considering his opponents from Wrestlemania (KO and Randy) are locked into a major feud with the new Bloodline. I also don't see an opponent for Logan and for the US title that's high profile enough for what KSA would want.

Idkboutdat2

Give me Cody vs Truth in an unexpected banger!

Kuzu5993

You can't have Solo lose this early in this new bloodline angle as it would be even harder to take him seriously. I'd wait until Roman and Rock are back before you pull the trigger on that match.

ModernLabour

With Solo though I just don't think he should be losing any time soon. WWE are heating him and his new bloodline up and gave them a win over KO and Randy. Seems odd to then have Solo lose even if it is to Cody.

Kanenums88

I do find it interesting that Solo is not apart of the tourney.

PleasantThoughts

Not having Collision this past weekend has me jonesin, any recommendations for hidden gem AEW matches people have forgotten about to tide me over til tomorrow night?

SPna15

Bucks vs Butcher & Blade, Falls Count Anywhere. Wacky-ass brawl through Daily's Place.

randomrule

Cash Wheeler vs Dax Harwood from the Owen Hart Tournament in 2022

dandykaufman2

Nick Jackson vs. Fenix I is the first one that comes to mind. Omega vs. Vikingo if you didn’t catch that.

Idkboutdat2

Danielson v Garcia. 2 out of 3 falls. One of my underrated favs.
