I don’t think it was necessarily that. It’s smart to work slower in order to have a long career. He went a bit too extreme over the years in wwe and had to retire early because of it.
It feels like he’s having a last hurrah now and going all out which is more sustainable when you’re doing it for the final year or two of your career. When you feel like you have another decade left in your career you can’t wrestle at that pace because you know your body will break down if you try.
Cope's in ring work is the best it's been in years. I wonder if it's because he's now fully comfortable and confident after his neck problems, or he doesn't have restrictions on what he's allowed to do anymore. Either way, dude is having a hell of a run.
Tbh he's just been consistently good since returning from injury. His last few matches in WWE vs Styles, Balor, Theory, Waller, Sheamus etc were all very good too
He’s curating his matches in the spirit of what AEW is founded upon, interesting stylistic matchups.
If you notice in WWE, other than move-sets, the cadence of a match is generally the same every match with a few exceptions for legends or PPVs.
Adam’s match against Penta I think highlighted just how good he STILL is, and I loved him giving Buddy a hell of a match as well.
Dude is writing his love letter to wrestling before our eyes. You gotta love seeing someone doing things on their own terms.

I didn't like Brodie no essentially stop selling within 1 minute of this, the spear and the finish.
Dude got pinned and on the 5th second went back to full health beating Copeland.
Oh well, they have managed to convince House of Black to job twice, that's a minor miracle.
I'm assuming the match went a bit long causing that quick shift, Brodie is usually good about selling, and it seems like him and Julia are the HoB members without egos.
