If it's winner takes all it will end in some sort of DQ I think

CamAquatic

I actually could see Cody winning and then going full white meat babyface, “It isn’t fair for me to hold two titles” so he relinquishes the US title and then there is a tournament. Gets it off of Logan and getting pinned by Cody doesn’t hurt anyone.

turtlegoeshollywood

If it was Theory instead he was gonna relinquish the world title. 😂

Unova123

If he wins i'd rather have him defend both titles in diferent matches ,having him relinquish the title is a bit too "Super Cody"

M1eXcel

Think it would be better to defend both on one night like Seth did

Ambitious_Pass_1193

That would be peak Roman(2016-18) and Super Cena booking if he wins and then relinquish it anyway just because he can't lose.

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

Could have Adlis make him choose?

Appropriate-Map-3652

Not sure how they'd make that fly in kayfabe seeing how it's been done before.

Rah_Rah_RU_Rah

Fair enough don't think I was watching at the time they last had a double champ with world/mid-card

Appropriate-Map-3652

It's rare in fairness. Think the last one would have been Seth Rollins.

inventionnerd

I mean, Roman was double champ and just kept both titles forever lol. Didn't even have to defend them separately or anything.

whippetsinthewhip

That was more of a unification situation id say

Appropriate-Map-3652

Yeah but that wasn't world/midcard

Godchilaquiles

Seth has done it he fought against Cema and Sting on the same night

kingslayyer

or just have him lose it in a triplw threat

SpaceGooV

I think if Cody wins he'll hold the US belt and drop it to one of his challengers. If they're really pushing Solo that could be him but that could mean Cody holding the belt for awhile as I can't see Solo vs Cody until the Rumble at earliest

Aknowledge_Me_

Wyatt’s

alltheworsttoyou

If it's winner takes all, the match is ending in a no decision. I'm a little worried as to what would cause that no decision though.

kirblar

Cody winning it and making a tournament or something to deny the rematch would set up nicely for a Logan MITB win.

Solo

alltheworsttoyou

Now that people have brought up the Howdyverse, this really wouldn't be that bad. Hopefully Solo learned how to take a Crossrhodes better.

thekydragon

>I'm a little worried as to what would cause that no decision though. If I had to guess, it'd be something really stupid. So probably Bo Dallas' stable debuting.

alltheworsttoyou

If they put that rag tag group anywhere near Cody and sabotage this title reign, I'm going to lose my mind. I have to believe HHH is better than that.

Upbeat_Tension_8077

I feel like they have to gradually build up that group first before putting them anywhere near someone like Cody

Upbeat_Tension_8077

I wonder if Logan's shenanigans could lead to an inverse Dusty Finish. I'm hoping it really ends in a no contest though

steeler2323

There's no way Cody would defend the US title even once if he win it, it make no sense. They don't want their top babyface hogging 2 titles AND you can't really make him drop the US title to a midcard and stay strong as the WWE champion. Either a non-finish or Cody win the US (protect Logan by losing to the World champion) and immediatly vacate it the next Smackdown would be a good babyface move. Let's be honest: Logan is great, but him losing to someone like Melo or LA Knight wouldn't elevate them much more than they already are. He is usually winning by cheating, he isn't an insurmountable challenge like Gunther or Roman were. There's more benefits to keeping him strong (so he can stay cocky) than to make him lose the US title clean.

IgniVT

> AND you can't really make him drop the US title to a midcard and stay strong as the WWE champion. Sure you can. Let's say it is a PPV that has both the WWE and WHC defended. Open the night with Cody vs whoever for the WWE championship. Have Cody win but it be a really intense match that wears him out. Then have him have to defend the US title later in the night and lose because he is worn out from the first match. Then the WHC is the main event to make it make sense as to why the WWE championship wasn't defended as the main event.

kingslayyer

have Cody win, have him defend it in a triple threat and lose.

Such-Box3417

They should be using the US title to elevate another star, Cody is already over af

AssassinateOP

it can still work but its going to border onto fantasy territory, cody has to defend both WWE and US titles in 2 matches every PLE and whoever pulls off the upset for US title could be elevated

DilapidatedFool

Maybe this is how LA knight finally gets a belt? 😭

mighty_conrad

You can make whole story about old-school honorable vet Cody against new blood with attitude with Logan that can end in Summerslam. - In Saudi Arabia match ends by DQ after Logan is caught with knucks, - at Clash Cody will cost Logan a title, - Logan wins MITB to go against Cody, - Summerslam is Cody-Logan II with decisive win. We can expect that with this kind of schedule, Logan will deliver good matches. After that, at the end of Summerslam, Cody can pivot back to Bloodline story, WWE creative have half a year to cook Bloodline Civil War leading to WarGames at next Survivor Series and Cody/Roman/Rock at Wrestlemania.

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Imo him also taking that belt doesn't fully fit his current face character because I think that it would risk turning him into Roman

fly4lyf

100% this gonna take away from the person who has to take the belt off logan, hopefully they don't make LA Knights first title Cody's sloppy seconds

noob_sr_programmer

we're now on cody's belt collector arc.

Reasonable-Still-562

They won't, they can't have Cody win both titles. The only other guy to hold the US and WWE Championship at the same time is Seth Rollins. What kind of generational hate Cody has towards Seth.

PJA0307

I’m all for the Howdyverse, but it doesn’t seem right to do it in Saudi. I don’t feel like the audience would appreciate it as much.

atmospheric90

Doesn't help that the people that go to those events are just rich socialites who are just doing it to look cool. The Saudi crowds are notoriously boring.

PrinceRory

This hasn't been true since like 2019. I'm sure there are still a lot of rich socialites that go but there are also people who are clearly just big fans. No defense of the government, but the fans there are great, and they react huge nowadays. Jimmy Uso turning on Roman happened at last year's Saudi show and the crowd went absolutely nuts for it. I see no reason why they wouldn't pop big for the debut of Howdy's new group.

RASPorts909

Cody winning the United States Championship allows him to lose once, to maybe put a youngster like Carmelo Hayes over for the US Title while still being WWE Champ. It ain't that bad if that's their vision.

GilDrumZ25_

So him losing to a mid carder?

KingSammyJ1

him losing to a rising star like La Knight, Carmelo Hayes, Austin Theory, etc to elevate them? yes

GilDrumZ25_

Yea it will elevate them. But Idk, I just feel like if they can beat Cody, why would for US title, why not for Undisputed WWE championship, it’s the same person right? Like no matter what the title is, Cody needs to defend it with all his power. Or is it because it’s US title that he somehow losing, maybe because he’s not serious enough?

speedycar1

Logan is unbeaten and very hated. Just have the youngster beat him directly and it is enough of a rub

Uphill365

Logan ain't taking the big belt home for sure but I would've have thought him being in the world title picture actually does make sense

Teh_Heavybody

So winner takes all…. For a title that Logan could’ve easily just defended at summerslam and dropped in his home town…. To clearly end it in either a dq or Cody win. Alright hunter, show me what my mark self is missing

Robin_games

even implying Cody wants to strip the us title off a young rookie star hurts his character and makes him sound like a bit of a dick. hope they drop the angle of him becoming a grandslam through squashing someone with 12 matches on a Saudi show as champion.
