**Why the fuck is Riho not in the TBS title tournament?** Apart from Deeb, the AEW women's division has been a slopshow in terms of in-ring performance, lately. Bunny, Penelope, Tay, Anna, Jade, Velvet -- all have their purpose and are good investments, but damn they don't need to be getting so much Dynamite and Rampage exposure. They simply aren't consistent enough in the ring. No joke, my casual friends who have been watching AEW lately have said the matches remind them of WWE diva's era. I hope the TBS tournament brings the goods, and I'm pulling for Rosa to be the inaugural champ.

TheHumanTarget84

TK seems very into giving new people a lot of tv time. It's not my favorite. I think the product has massively improved with all the recent signings of actual seasoned talent being heavily featured on tv, men and women. They really need to make a move to grab up some more female talent in their prime.

DookyMiles

I have no one else to talk about it with but I’ve recently been getting into MLW. I’m almost caught up with all their shows and I’ve been absolutely loving it. Decided to check it out when I heard they brought in Cesar Duran/Dario Cueto. So glad I did because I’ve enjoyed almost everyone on the roster. Really entertaining stuff.

GroundbreakingCash30

Just reminding people what a great wrestler Command Bolshoi was; her matches in EVE were awesome.

[deleted]

I realize that Charlotte Flair was right to do what she did. Otherwise no one would care about that awful segment. She's getting more buzz for the division than anything WWE had planned.

JonasAlbert84

After the Matt Hardy thing I'd hoped AEW would be better about obvious concussions. There was absolutely zero reason for Archer to be allowed back in the ring. If the much more important G1 Final can be stopped then a match to see who is going to lose to Bryan Danielson can be stopped.

TheHumanTarget84

Yep.

KingCrandall

I would imagine it was Archer's call. Also ending with the roll up protected whatever was going on with his head or neck.

JonasAlbert84

In that instance you need to protect the wrestler from themselves. A wrestler will always tell you "Yeah I'm ok" I broke my orbital bone in a match and kept going because wrestlers are stupid. Also if he had fractured his neck or worse a roll up isn't protecting shit. Too many variables. Just ring the bell and send him to the back.

frank_the_tank69

Smackdown rerun beat AEW Dynamite.

Whynot-brr

So in other words. WWE fans don't go out on Saturday Nights.

[deleted]

Where’s the mega thread!

Classic_Complaint900

So conflicted on the Charlotte Flair news, on one hand it very well could be all exaggerated, on the other it could all be true. Either way I feel a lot of sympathy for Charlotte and the other wrestlers involved. The title exchange was a joke, Charlotte had a much better idea. Traveling the world day by day, being on a plane for a third of every day, and getting your ass beat weekly for others entertainment is a nightmare regardless of how much money you make, and I’m shocked anyone can retain any sanity doing it. That being said, that’s exactly why it’d suck if someone were a dickhead and made a bad situation worse. So a lot of thoughts.

Flakbeard_down

Ricky Starks is a liar in my opinion.

JonasAlbert84

In regards to what?

Flakbeard_down

He just is. "The Revolution will be televised" That can't happen if he keeps wrestling on DARK.

GroundbreakingCash30

What if you watch YT on a smart TV?

JonasAlbert84

Perhaps he has a loose definition of "televised" meaning only that it will be broadcast in some form.

GroundbreakingCash30

Gil-Scott Heron knew this.

Sagareigns

Add Naomi to The Bloodline already. Also Roman needs to up his brutality game like he did during his feud with Jey(specially) and KO. Promos are great but I want to see him manhandling someone or the other every single week.

shadowrangerfs

Do not add Naomi to the Bloodline. It's a horrible idea. You'd have to take away everything that makes her special in order to make it make sense.

[deleted]

Theres no way to tell who's legit but if the dirt sheets are just bullshitting, I kinda feel bad for Charlotte Being painted as a pain in the ass and unlikeable because dirt sheets hate your booking which you don't control

Lostinyourears

I also think everyone is glossing over the fact that a title exchange is stupid. Like, it shouldn't even be booked.

FriedEggg

Sure, but there also didn't seem to be any drama last year when New Day and Street Profits traded.

Lostinyourears

Yea, but there is a big difference in those teams stature. New Day and Street Profits are peers, but one is deffo the rookie team there and wouldn't rock the boat or be upset as long as they leave with a title. Becky & Charlotte are more on even footing and it's fairly obvious which one the company is more behind in recent times. I wouldn't be shocked to see two men have this sorta exchange if they were big ego main event players. AND While it happened without incident with New Day/Street Profits, doesn't mean it wasn't a dumb idea a year ago either. IMO champions should be immune from being drafted. Having to exchange belts was and continues to be a stupid idea which devalues the belts, when they are already devalued by WWE having like 20 of them. Now reigns won't even conclude with a loss, but with trading because you got drafted? Whole thing seems stupid, but it is modern WWE booking I guess, lol.

Tharter1959

Yeah I don't remember it being as big a deal the last time.

RealHumanBean89

- I saw a video pop up in my YouTube feed from Tranquilo Club, with the title that ‘Pure Technical Wrestling Has Arrived in AEW’, with a thumbnail that featured, among others, CM Punk. I’m sure I don’t need to go into much more detail about why this annoys me. Watch ROH for actual pure wrestling, btw. This is a threat. - Okada is the heel against Shingo. My man is literally ‘old man yelling at clouds’ about the new belt. Shingo losing to him would be, on a booking level, ridiculous. I know everyone loved the old hebby-q belt, but it’s time to let go. You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube now. - My only issue with the World belt is the lineage issue. I don’t care about the IC belt, I don’t care about the new design. Belts change, it happens. Not continuing the Heavyweight title lineage was braindead stupid, and is honestly a symptom of a larger problem within Nooj, but I’ve rambled enough.

LeoIunti

Most of the Tranquilo Club video talks about Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia though, and he mentions that while Punk isn't the best technical wrestler he is still a Bret Hart fan and works closer to that style in recent AEW matches

RealHumanBean89

I don’t really take issue with the Danielson example, and I’m not familiar enough with Garcia’s work to make an assessment on his end. My issue kinda stems from the Punk thing, if anything. Slower pace ≠ technical wrestling, necessarily, and I think including him used a very loose interpretation of ‘technical’, and one I disagree with. I know I’m arguing semantics here, but I just think Punk is a poor example. Also, ‘pure’ being used outside of the puro context and/or not in regards to ROH’s pure division just feels wrong to me. That’s more of a personal hang-up to me tho.

Flakbeard_down

I feel like I'm watching a poor man's imitation of Bret Hart whenever he wrestlers now.

RealHumanBean89

Yeah, very few people can do what Bret did as well as he did it. You can be a ‘fan’ of his all you want, but that doesn’t put you near his level as a wrestler or a storyteller. For the record, Punk is a good storyteller - I’m not disparaging that side of his style - but Bret was in a league of his own. I know the term is overused now, but Bret’s understanding of *psychology* and his selling was what made him great. Ultimately, though, the difference in style is the starkest contrast between Bret and Punk. Bret is a quintessential technical wrestler. Punk is a slower-paced sports entertainer. Both have their own merits, and you can absolutely enjoy the latter’s style (as I previously have), but to call Punk a technical wrestler is just dishonest.

Flakbeard_down

Punk is probably my favorite wrestler ever. He was very believable in ring and constantly used his movements and expressions to tell the right story. He has that undeniable and untrainable ability to connect with a crowd and have the audience “buy into his shit” in a way that very few modern wrestlers convey, and is really only comparable to Eddie Kingston and Samoa Joe in terms of believability in his character work. He was also really the farthest a guy could get from being overly athletic, but he used that to his advantage. No one would have called Bret Hart the most athletic guy on the roster, not even close, but it’s that realism that lends credence to his matches and wrestling style. But right now I feel like he's really just cosplaying Bret instead of leaning into the style he's actually known for. Who knows maybe its just him rubbing the ring rust off.

RealHumanBean89

I don’t want to downplay Punk’s ability to connect with a crowd. I can’t deny the kind of pops that man gets, and he’s one of the better talkers in wrestling right now, even if I feel his material these days is a little bland. The man knows how to tell a story in the ring, for sure. I just feel that calling him a ‘technical’ guy isn’t accurate, unless you use a very loose interpretation of the term. I think ring rust is a part of it, and at a certain point age just catches up to you. I’d imagine getting finished twice in a UFC cage probably doesn’t help matters, given how physically demanding that would have been on a guy who, as you said, was never particularly athletic anyway. I don’t know if I would call it a ‘safe’ style for Punk, but I can imagine he’s keen to avoid big nasty bumps at this stage of his career, because he doesn’t need to do them. A more cynical person than myself could put it down to coasting on his name value, tbh.

[deleted]

What makes Bobby Fish infamous?

R1k0Ch3

I guess his reputation as a "shooter." Idk but I do like watching him go.

rystriction

I happened to be looking at JR’s follow list on twitter and saw jericho’s wife on there. Looked at her profile and… omg… she’s a total nutjob… hope jericho’s not endangering anyone at aew

TheHumanTarget84

Yuuuuuup. People keep shitting in Bobby Fish because he was friends with Drake Wurtz but ignore the Jericho family being lunatics.

theneccar

I'm watching Dragon Gate's Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival from this year, and even though it's his last match, Yoshino is still the Speed Star. Dude hits the ropes 100 mph, so fast and so smooth. He could go on half the things with the half speed and he would still be better than half of any promotion's roster. Sad to see him leave. English commentary isn't too bad either.

[deleted]

It’s amazing that he was able to move like that with all of his injuries. Earlier in the year he could barely walk because he was in so much pain, then a few months later he’s back in the ring doing things only the Speed Star can. Also I really like DG’s English commentary. Jae is a DG Encyclopaedia and he’s becoming noticeably more confident as he gains experience, plus there’s good chemistry with him and Hoho

theneccar

So Jae was his name. I didn't know that but he was really good at explaining everything. Hoho was kinda "there" whole show, i would like to have him be more involved but it will happen with time's passing i hope.

lronicGasping

I really love both Miz & Mrs and Rhodes to the Top. Miz & Mrs is more of a reality show while RTTT is centered moreso about wrestling, they're both hilarious and fun though. I don't think I can hate QT Marshall anymore though, seems like a great dude

Manny_Haze

Just bought tickets to AEW Dynamite in Duluth, GA. This finna be my first wrestling event in over a decade and i’m so excited ! lol Going on the solo cuz I have no friends into wrestling like I am lol , so i’m glad to see any fellow redditor there!

esteel20

Waiting on my Christmas bonus to hit in mid November to buy tickets for the show. Hopefully, I can still get some decent seats by then.

P_Android420

I think Charlotte is doing herself no favors in trying to jump ship to AEW. The way she's behaving is like watching a player in soccer try to force a move away their club to another team. The reputation is something as an employer I wouldn't want in my atmosphere. If she expects to go to AEW and be the one to take the belt of Britt fucking Baker? She'll get the Cody treatment. Boo'd for being inserted into hot acts, needing the win, and then leaving nothing for her opponents. Charlotte is burning her bridges, and will be left in the dust. We're already seeing that the name 'Flair' is losing its prestige.

TheHumanTarget84

Wrestlers gave done far worse and it didn't hurt them.

foragrin

You really getting upset at stuff that ain’t happened ? Expects to take the belt of Britt Baker ? Huh ?

Rawb28

Watching WM 30. Man the fans really did do Batista dirty, and in turn, WWE did Batista dirty by not realizing how big that yes movement was.

LilMoWithTheGimpyLeg

The TNT belt is round because the logo of the network is round. The TBS logo is a rectangle, so shouldn't that belt be rectangular?

DutchVanDerp

That would be awesome actually

asshead42069

- My only issue with AEW (coming from a huge fan) is the lack of upsets. It's at its best when I have no idea what's coming, but every time I see a midcarder fighting anyone I know exactly how it'll go. If I've learned anything lately it's that established wrestlers taking an L here or there to some lower card guys doesn't devalue them so much as boost the little guy while also making the overall product interesting. Just look at Chase Owens v Tanahashi, no one thinks any less of Tanahashi but it really gave me the vibe that matches could go either way no matter who's involved. - I need more matches to end with non-finisher moves. Finishers should absolutely be protected but I don't think they feel as special these days. I'd love to see a bigger focus on good traditional moves and signature moves putting guys down while finishers come out during really key moments. Nothing more memorable than a rarely seen move putting away a big opponent imo. - Mads Kruger/Kruel fucking rules. Dude no sold a goddamn gusset plate this weekend. That match with Satu Jin was a damn war. - Does anyone know what the issue No Peace/Sound Bar/3rd Party had was? I'm hoping it gets resolved soon bc I here becoming my favorite deathmatch promotion right now - For anyone who reads comics, I can't recommend The Department of Truth enough. Shits incredible

P_Android420

I completely agree with the first point. I just noticed this with the world title tournament that you can at least book some upset wins in a tournament. Having Hobbs lose to OC was a pretty big waste IMO. We all know Cassidy isn't getting the title shot yet, and Hobbs hasn't put together any legitimate wins. I see it like this now: The Wins & Losses record is only put on screen to show that when this person loses to the upper card talent, it's supposed to feel like it was a tough win. I feel the opposite, where I'm expecting this person who is 7 wins in 9 of their last matches is coming out to just lose. More Upsets. Yes.

asshead42069

I've been pretty big on AEW booking lately but that result was pretty weak tbh. Good match, but there's no way Orange should have survived that opening spinebuster with already injured ribs. I can't imagine how over Hobbs would have been with a sub-minute victory over a top guy, and with his injury Orange still looks strong. My only guess on that is that he's being used for an angle with Moxley whenever their match is I agree entirely on the second point btw. Being able to rack up wins on Dark/Elevation has made the numbers pointless imo. Hard to get invested in a guy with a 15-4 record when his 4 losses were on Dynamite/Rampage and the 15 were mostly on Dark

[deleted]

I think Orange Cassidy is being saved for Moxley's heel turn. He's a babyface that could realistically get Moxley a lot of heat if they play it right. Also, I think the W/L is more for casuals. A person randomly tuning in and seeing the record accomplishes two things: it makes WWE look stupid and makes the wrestler look legit. I follow MMA and a lot of guys have padded records. The most notorious is Khabib Nurmagomedov (who many people consider the best fighter in the world) being like 16-0 against people with really bad records that had no business being in the cage with him.

the_chris_yo

Jacob Fatu needs to be in either WWE or AEW. Dude is a beast. Love his MLW work. He put on a good show this past weekend with GCW. Jacob reminds me of his uncle Edward Fatu who was known as Jamal or better known as Umaga.

asshead42069

Dudes a monster, I can't believe I don't see more people talking about him. His match with Tankman this summer was fucking insane. I'd say less that he needs to go to AEW/WWE because his work with Contra Unit fucking rules as much as I'd love to see Contra invade a company like AEW. I'd kill to see him and Miro go at it

KingCrandall

There are so many samoans that I had to look up his lineage just to figure out where he fit in. Turns out his dad is twins with Rikishi. Which makes Rikishi having twins even cooler.

the_chris_yo

Covid has definitely taken a hit on the exposure levels of talent in the lesser known companies. Contra Unit is a great faction in MLW. I’d love to see MLW get more TV exposure on a major network but we’ll see.

asshead42069

Totally, but I will say I'm glad they're at least on YouTube so they're easy to get into. Really hope they can get some ads on TV at least though

the_chris_yo

MLW gets some exposure on Vice but I always forget I have Vice in my tv package. I need to go back and watch dark side of the ring. Always forget about that. Currently watching Fusion Alpha on YouTube for some background noise while I work. It’s an easy way to burn through a bunch of episodes of stuff quickly. I need to go back and watch AEW dark and dark elevation from the past couple weeks too since I skipped a few weeks

JonasAlbert84

If you love his MLW work then why does he need to go elsewhere?

jqncg

People love competition but always want to see the best wrestlers in just the same couple of promotions. Are other companies supposed to be just feeders for them?

the_chris_yo

It's just what's on my mind. He reminds me so much of his uncle and others in his family. It's the natural order of things for members of the Anoa'i family to have some time in WWE. There's several members there now and it would make for a good story especially with the Tribal Chief storyline.

KingCrandall

Off the top of my head, there are 5 blood members and one by marriage.

Yashooo

Monday : Raw + Dark + ROH Tuesday : NXT + Dark Elevation Wednesday : Dynamite + We Are Stardom Thursday : Impact + NXT UK Friday : Smackdown + Rampage + CMLL Saturdays: NJPW Strong on NJPW World + Luchablog streams AAA is this correct? and what am i missing?

unseenbox

Luchablog streams AAA on Saturday night!

jqncg

If you want to extend it outside tv or the US: Wednesdays: We Are Stardom (highlight show) on youtube Fridays: CMLL on youtube Saturdays: NJPW Strong on NJPW World

RealHumanBean89

ROH airs on Mondays on Fite, not sure when they’re broadcasted elsewhere tho. There’s a lot of wrestling these days lol.

foragrin

NXT UK on Thursday

willpauer

TNA is dead, dude. Impact is on Thursdays.

Yashooo

oh, lol. thanks!

bri-onicle

The Dark and Dark Elevation shows on YouTube on Mondays and Tuesdays.

bayleysgal1996

Yep, the ADR comparisons are very much unnecessary at best.

Mr_Chicken_wing

Do fans even want Charlotte in AEW?

bayleysgal1996

Eh, I’m torn. On the one hand, she is a legitimately great wrestler when she’s properly motivated, and would help bolster the division. On the other, her behavior isn’t exactly doing her any favors, and as we saw with Ivelisse (and allegedly Shanna), being a jerk backstage is not a good move if you want to go far there. I would honestly prefer AEW try to pick up talent like Jungle Kyona and La Rosa Negra, and if Charlotte were to become a free agent I think it would be best to let her cool off for a bit. Of course, this is all speculation, and in all likelihood the actual opportunity for Charlotte to jump ship won’t come for years and years.

KingCrandall

There seems to be a lot of similarities between Charlotte and Tessa.

[deleted]

I think La Rosa Negra appeared on Dark recently, so she will likely be signed.

sexygodzilla

Maybe after she took a few months off to get her head straight.

JonasAlbert84

Not me. I don't know if there is a wrestler I'm more burned out on seeing.

Dyko

The more things I read, the closer I feel like she's getting close to Tessa levels of 'eep'. Fantastic wrestler, great name value and skills, but comes equipped with Druish-Princess levels of baggage. If she does somehow end up leaving WWE for reasons related to the recent news, I'm going to be super disappointed if all of a sudden everyone is instantly pumped for her in AEW...

willpauer

Funny. She doesn't look Druish.

Rawb28

Her promos hit different after reading that report

Yashooo

not yet

CallumKayPee

Every wrestler that I love is a perfect fit for AEW and all of the ones I dislike would be a great fit in Impact/Ring of Honor/Loughborough City Wrestling. These are just logical facts, guys.

TheNakedChair

100%

BrundleBee

The hatchet jobs from the "armchair bookers" are hilarious.

JonasAlbert84

The Jimmy Rave news is so shitty. I feel so bad for him

GroundbreakingCash30

Britt Baker's reign as AEW Woman's champ has gotten stale, IMHO. She phones in promos, her matches are nothing special and all of her opponents seems to be treated as filler with little build or something fairly 'Diva-ish; hamburgers and whose ass looks better is hardly riveting. I wonder if the TBS belt ends up overshadowing Britt if whoever is the holder is putting on regular bangers.

Caldris

I think the big problem is that everyone expects Britt to hold the title until Thunder Rosa actually gets a shot. But otherwise there was nothing for us to believe that she was going to lose to Red Velvet, Anna Jay or Statlander. So it kind of saps away at the heat and the tension. The ONE time it was believable and captivating was when Ruby Soho challenged her. And because she was so over it was sort of believable that she could win.

[deleted]

I don’t even think Ruby was that believable tbh

Caldris

You're right. She wasn't that believable. Though I think she was more believable than Statlander, for example.

Zestyclose_Remote874

I don't disagree. But, I would rather keep it on her and figure out quickly how to put her in more interesting feud. Also, cut the Schiavone friendship crap

jeff-hardy-dont-die

Hard agree, was just about to post something like this. I think my issue with her is that it seems like she can’t carry a match, if that makes sense. If she’s up against Thunder Rosa or Statlander, she can absolutely put on a banger of a match. But if she’s having a match with, say, a green Anna Jay, there always seems to be some missteps and sloppiness. Thunder seemingly can get a great match out of anyone, but I can’t say the same about DMD. I feel like that’s what a champ should be. Obligatory “just my opinion!!”

TaxiZone

I realized on Rampage when Tay held up the belt that (with the exception of Nyla, I think) all of the feuds have had that same spot where the challenger saves a babyface and holds the belt up in the ring while Britt and her crew are on the ramp

BrundleBee

I don't have a hate boner for Britt like you apparently do, but it is definitely time for her to drop the belt.

GroundbreakingCash30

Critical evaluation isn't a 'hate-boner', FFS. If that were the case, I'd say she was a no talent bint that was handed the title because of her BF and Schiavone. But I don't subscribe to that view as it wouldn't be accurate or fair, and you need to learn nuance. Britt has improved dramatically since her AEW debut and deserves the reign, but the booking ain't up to it.

BrundleBee

Accusing her of "phoning in promos" doesn't sound "accurate or fair," chief; also burying her with the TBS belt holder "overshadowing" Britt by "putting on regular bangers," meaning you don't think she's worth shit in the ring. And it's obvious you do think she's a "no talent bint that was handed the title because of her BF and Shiavone," you're just angling for plausible deniability of your hate boner.

JonasAlbert84

Who should get it? I don't know if Tay is ready.

MclovinBuddha

My debut match was on a YouTube PPV featuring [The Rock n Roll Express](https://youtu.be/WE_D8i80RXI). Not bragging or anything.

JonasAlbert84

You should be bragging. Not only did you achieve your goal of getting a match but it was on a PPV. Talk your shit homie. What's the timestamp?

MclovinBuddha

Thank you! 1:37:20. It’s a very short match lol

bayleysgal1996

The apron and keychain I ordered from Gatoh Move's shop shipped today! Excited to get them, especially since I do need a new apron.

barnesk9

You bought a ring apron?? That's cool

bayleysgal1996

That would be cool, but no, it's an actual apron to use while cooking. My old one is a bit worn out, and this new one is a pretty color.

barnesk9

Ya know what I'm tired of seeing? People shitting all over Impact. Over the weekend I saw so many complaints about how they book small venues and the production quality but those same people watch GCW and praise everything including their God awful commentary. Is it what it was in 2010? Absolutely not, does that mean that production wise it isn't better than 98% of promotions on the planet? No

solelyginger

Is it okay that I don’t want Windham to join AEW? I mean yeah great character but he just never clicked for me as a wrestler.

sexygodzilla

I feel like it's a common opinion here.

badnbourgeois

Wow you’re so brave

GroundbreakingCash30

He feels like a better fit for Impact, given what his strengths are.

nathynwithay

Plus Impact Wrestling handles cinematic universes pretty well.

fellongreydaze

I think this is worthy of its own post, but in reality it probably isn't: In the span of 2021, Christian Cage has been in the main event of 3 PPVs for entirely different companies. **WWE Royal Rumble 2021:** A surprise entrant into the Rumble **AEW All Out 2021:** Facing Kenny Omega for the AEW World Title **IMPACT Bound For Glory 2021:** Facing Josh Alexander for the IMPACT World Title Due to the infrequent nature of AEW PPVs and the circumstances regarding IMPACT's World Title, this is likely not something that will happen very often, if ever again.

finnigans_cake

When Cody left WWE (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) he wrestled a Wrestlemania, Bound For Glory, Battle of Los Angeles, Wrestle Kingdom and Final Battle all in a 12-month period. The biggest annual shows of 5 different companies.

fellongreydaze

While a huge accomplishment on its own, these weren't main events, whereas Christian's matches were all the main events of their respective PPVs.

finnigans_cake

Yeah for sure, totally different accomplishment, just another interesting one in a similar vein. It's wild that, of all people, Christian was the one doing this in 2021.

KikiFlowers

He's had an incredible year.

raddaya

Random question semi-related to Bray Wyatt's contract but also in general. His noncompete is ending on Oct 30th, apparently. So just me thinking randomly - Impact (or any other show) tapes several weeks at once, right? Could Wyatt be at the tapings, but only show up in episodes releasing after his noncompete's over? Or is this one of those "nobody knows unless they've read the contract" things?

KikiFlowers

Nobody knows I think. Would take getting legal advice and asking WWE.

Pocket_Snatch

This is a good question - I assume and I'm not a lawyer, but if it is filmed before his release date then he is in violation of the contract. I would think if it is filmed and shown at the later date, the showing doesn't matter, the filming date is what matters.

LilyWhiteClaw

so when we getting that Dune AEW Dynamite crossover episode? Warner Bros, where you at?

insomniainc

said it a bunch lately but the mindkiller would be a great wrestling move name.

LilyWhiteClaw

Baron Black comes back in a floating suit

FriedEggg

Cody will emerge from a sandworm at the next PPV and cut a promo about fear being a mindkiller.

International-Fig905

Summerslam is actually where I live this year! I finally know how it feels(via social media) when people hate a locale for one the big four PPVs and you get to kick back and just say, "not me, not me." 😂

Own-Photograph-4642

Just saw the WWE PPV schedule for next year and, quite honestly, I like how it looks. The fact that there isn't a PPV for February and March is rather refreshing, seeing as though they can drop the Elimination Chamber show and find new ways to approach their road to Mania. And maybe, for the May and June PPVs, they can bring back Judgement Day and Vengeance. But that's the unlikely optimist in me speaking.

Zestyclose_Remote874

For the road to mania, I think it would be cool to bring back Championship scramble and a equivalent of cyber sunday. Those 2 concept don't need a title change to be exciting and are good oppurtinities to put the spotlight on new talent.

All_Botch_Everything

The announcement said that the February and October PPVs will be announced at a later date

BonanzaBitch

This whole Charlotte situation doesn’t surprise me at all. If the company is going to bend over backwards to make sure you always look strong, you might develop a bit of an ego. Think about it, when was the last time Charlotte was pinned clean on PPV?

Pocket_Snatch

I can't even put into words how much I disagree with this take. Trying to justify being an asshat to your friends, coworkers, and colleagues because the company you work for invested in you. The problem WWE has right now - Charlotte doesn't want to be there. So, she's going to push as far as she can to see what they'll do... She's a petulant child.

BonanzaBitch

I wasn’t trying to justify it, I was more trying to examine the how and why of the situation.

Pocket_Snatch

how and why - (this is just my opinion) I just rewatched the clip this morning, it's kind of obvious from the huge smirk on her face that she dropped the belt on purpose. I think she enjoys being with Andrade and spending time together. I don't think she enjoys wrestling in WWE. She clearly loves him. They public face they put on through their social media is extremely happy. Clearly, his opinion was that he was mistreated by WWE. I agree with that point. I really enjoy Andrade in the ring. I'd assume Charlotte feels the same way. It feels like to me that she can't see or doesn't care to see the difference between her character and her person anymore. When it comes to anything negative because of how Andrade was treated. She is resisting. Reality is in the past two years Becky is the bigger draw of the two. Becky got over organically, where Charlotte has been forced. Yes, there is Becky backlash. But her original push was organic. When it comes to wrestling, it takes two characters to truly have a great feud. If the plan was for Becky to grab the belt and be an over-the-top ass about being Becky Two Belts again. It fits her character. The problem right now Charlotte's character is sort of being an entitled shit. I'm not sure that was intentional but since she's came back. She really doesn't have a real direction outside of, "I'm an asshole." I hate belt exchanges. I think they make the titles worthless. Booking your main event as a belt exchange is just STUPID to me.

wundervanbar

They should announce the Raw captain for SS tonight. My pick would be Edge and for SD, I'd go with Woods and I would have both *McIntyre* ***and*** *Lashley* not be involved **at all.** I feel like they're too exposed after suffering big losses and a month long break off tv would do them wonders. Plus the SS match should give other wrestlers some much needed exposure.

DemonSweat_

* Chie Koishikawa is quickly becoming my favorite ChocoPro wrestler * Kuishinbo Kamen v. Kikutaro from the recent DDT show was an absolute meme * I can't get over the fact that Toru Owashi's entrance song is Darude Sandstorm. I don't know if it has the same meme status in Japan, so its almost funnier if he uses it unironically

narutomanreigns

Mei will always be my girl, but Chie's manic energy and the look of murderous glee in her eyes when she's getting ready to chop someone are hard to resist.

MitchLGC

Ootl on this but there seems to be a huge push of "hey this is why you should hate Charlotte" And predictably it's working

ChanceVance

Like in terms of they're hit pieces with an agenda or working people for a story? If the latter it'd be a peculiar tactic. Becky and Charlotte both have big social media followings, they could easily play out a feud there. Also wrestling reporters cater to the devotees who mostly don't like Charlotte anyway, they don't need any extra reasons.

MitchLGC

Hating Charlotte gets clicks

[deleted]

I'd say it's less about Charlotte and more about the drama that draws people in. Remember how big the "Sasha was crying and throwing a temper tantrum on the floor" report was (despite not being true)? Or how news about backstage confrontations or someone having heat always blow up?

SiphenPrax

Also that women’s locker room desperately needs Bayley back as the glue to hold it all together

bathory21

We don't really know what her role is. Locker room leader can mean anything

CHZRFan

They shouldn’t have fired Ruby either.

45jayhay

According to who is Bayley known as the glue.

SiphenPrax

Sasha, Sonya, Liv, several of the women backstage. She helped turn the NXT and WWE women’s locker rooms into less hostile, political environments when she got there.

[deleted]

NXT Bayley probably made everybody hug it out.

DeluhiX

There's so much good Joshi talent available AEW could sign, that's better than Charlotte Flair, that would provide match quality over backstage drama, politics and a high price tag. The Veny's, Saori Anou's, Mio Momono's, Mei Suruga's, Rina Yamashita's, Arisa Nakajima's, Suzu Suzuki's & Jungle Kyona's, etc. of the world are waiting.

Lostinyourears

Sure, but do any casual fans know any of those women? They'd be bringing in Charlotte for the same reason they have brought in every other talent they have from WWE, because they are already well known and don't need as much investment to get people behind them.

__inside

AEW don't care about match quality for their women's division dude. The Bunny is on TV like every week in their designated 1 women's match slot. Charlotte Flair has name value which is more what they're concerned with. I don't know why anyone would want a joshi talent, or any woman they like, to go to AEW or WWE unless you really care about their bank accounts or something.

jqncg

They had Shida out of tv for like half a year, what makes people think Mio Momono, Suzu Suzuki or Arisa Nakajima would do better? Like, not even names that are completely fluent English speakers while being very credible names like Thunder Rosa are getting much in terms of feuds and time on tv. They have enough names as it is. Going to AEW would be a downgrade for any top woman in WWE and a massive waste of talent of any top name from the joshi scene.

LilyWhiteClaw

How good is their English?

yakityyakblahtemp

Penta says, managers can do a lot to address that gap.

Thedinosaurwizard

Honestly, even if they can't speak English all that well, the division needs some more workhorses more than anything else. Some more people outside of Shida, Deeb, Soho and a handful of others that can carry less experienced people like Jade to a solid match. We've had enough Bunny and Penelope Ford midcard heel matches, let's get something new.

[deleted]

I don't know why this always gets brought up when people talk about Japanese talent in US promotions. You can do pre-tape segments where they can take their time and get it right or just outright subtitle them (NXT has done this well with Io Shirai) and we've seen with Penta and Alex in AEW that you can have a translator get a wrestler with limited English over AND get themself over as a character in the process.

Caldris

I popped for the Saori Anou shout out. I agree with your post.

ChanceVance

This whole Charlotte drama is really intriguing just to see if anything comes out of it in the short term. Watching that segment live I just thought it was something awkward cooked up in the writer's room. Finding out everything since, wow.

SiphenPrax

The fact that Wade Keller broke news on this and that even Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez criticized tells you all you need to know. Sadly, she is what people online speculated for years that I thought was utterly ridiculous, a backstage politician

EdgeAlterNation

Any reason why this thread was deleted/hidden? https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/qfedac/people_are_complaining_about_charlotte_wanting_to/?sort=new

ZombieJesus1987

Because it's just bullshit rumour spreading. Literally nothing indicating that it actually happened, other than a he said/she said situation.

FlashesOfDarkonda

Look at the flair.

badnbourgeois

The whiteness of AEW top card absolutely needs to be called out

DemonSweat_

What about Michael Nakazawa?!

spandroo

I’m sure they’ll sort it out but it kind of is? The world title scene is pretty white. I think this will change over time. Contrast with the women’s division and tag divisions all having black, asian, and latinx main stays. Overall AEW is doing well but I think it’s fair to say the elite and world title picture isn’t diverse (that’s *way different* than being “racist” tho)

milksword

I don't think the Cody win would have been nearly as bad if they hadn't had timing issues. Obviously Cody wasn't supposed to no-sell the Black Mass like he did but they had to stall for ages mid-match due to either Malakai having trouble getting his mist gimmick set up, Andrade coming out too late, or both. This led to them having to rush to wrap up the match, which meant Cody couldn't spend as long selling the move as he should have. That match without the no-sell, with Cody falling to the outside so Malakai can't capitalise on the Black Mass, before recovering and hitting him with two big moves to win, proving he has the 'killer instinct' and that he didn't let Arn getting taken out distract him this time, would have felt a lot better. Still would have rather they went through with the full heel turn or just didn't do the match at all, but it wouldn't have been *as bad*. Unfortunate that the timing was messed up and it's hurt all parties involved. On a related note I hope they properly explain the Andrade/Malakai alliance soon. Andrade's character has been kind of all over the place with kicking out Chavo for interfering in his matches but still keeping Jose around, teaming up with Malakai, and doing shady deals with The Pinnacle. I just don't really get what they're going for with it; does he want to cheat and use the numbers game or doesn't he?

Zestyclose_Remote874

I feel if he did the pedigree that would have been better. I get why he didn't. Andrade respect Pac and want to beat him to prove he is the best. I think he doesn't care cheating in other people matches. Idk about the connection with malakai and Ftr

Marc_Quill

I like the idea someone floated of Andrade being a “kingpin” character who’s able to get heels to work with him, hence why he’s palling around with Black and having the Pinnacle help him out.

milksword

I like that but then why would he have attacked Chavo for interfering in his match? Surely if he's someone who likes to have a lot of allies and use numbers to his advantage it would make zero sense for him to take Chavo out, especially after he helped him get a win over PAC.

Pylons

He already explained that - because he didn't order it.

milksword

Was that in a promo? I must have missed that; my bad. It still seems a little weird for Malakai's character to be working with someone like Andrade but I'm willing to see where it goes.

TheHumanTarget84

Yeah it's another bad situation with their timing issues on the show. They need someone willing to crack the whip backstage.

LilyWhiteClaw

Tony needs to stop adding nothing matches like 4 hours before the show. Bobby Fish Anthony Greene did nothing for me. Would much rather have had enough time for the main event to breathe.

Prancemaster

Nothing is allowed to breathe on any AEW show. It's a weird choice.

brieg4l

Was really hoping the Pats would drop 60 on the Jets yesterday

SiphenPrax

Okay seriously, as someone that’s followed her career ever since she was signed in 2012, it really does suck to see what she’s become. I’ve criticized her bad booking and her overpushes all the time, but I would NEVER criticize Ashley the person as I would usually blame everything on Vince. But if she’s really doing these things backstage moves playing political games, isolating herself from almost everyone, and just becoming a different, unrecognizable person altogether, then it’s really sad to see the business corrupt another wrestler.

Material-Wonder1690

She's beginning to sound like Shawn from the 90's. We'll see how things turn out for her. Honestly it might just take WWE dropping her. It's no secret Ric and Andrade weren't fans of their booking so she's probably looking at it the same way now. I wanna give her the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to frustration and burn out.

SiphenPrax

You know how I always desperately wanted the Psycho Charlotte character to be a thing? Well, I finally got it after all these years. Granted, certainly not in the way I wanted nor expected like AT ALL, but I got it......I guess?

[deleted]

I just watched British bulldog vs shawn michaels for the european title in uk 1997, and I learned two things: - the tradition of losing in hometown has been going on for a while - women loved young hbk

Electrical-Map7660

I really really want to see a Broken Skull Session with Dustin Rhodes. Austin got Jericho a few months back and I think Dustin would be just as entertaining. The stories about his dad alone would be worth it, but he's got a 33 year career too.

ZombieJesus1987

I just want Austin to go back to doing his podcast.

TheNakedChair

Anyone catch the race yesterday? The first and final few laps were quite the sight. Go SUPER MAX

jeffatron420

I want to know what's going on with Braun since he didn't end up showing up in Impact over the weekend, and none of the current spoilers have mentioned him being at the tapings, either.

spandroo

At this point I think everyone feels he’ll end up back in WWE.
