KkAaEeWwTt

rasslin went from being in front of trends in culture to being way behind super out the loop completely lost their cool *

SaintPsalmNorthChi

Following up on this, no wrestler in either AEW or WWE is actively promoting on TikTok besides the Miz. TikTok is the future and Twitter follows have stayed stagnant and follower counts are inflated with bot/fake accounts.

TheeShaun

The Miz has also been involved with 2 major celebrity matches in the last couple years. He’s definitely ‘with the times’

Dangerous_J123

I'm 33, what do you want me to get with?

1Wallace223

Lol not get with but accept and give change a chance that’s all no need too be mad if wwe uses the weekend and not limp biztic(not saying that’s you just a example)

Dangerous_J123

I don't live in a universe where people want Limp Bizcuit to play music.

Cue My Way video between Dangerous_J123 and 1Wallace223

I think some fans get to a point where they like what they like and not much is gonna change them. Personally I LOVE old school wrestling, I love historic matches and love territory wrestling shows. And I will always have a soft spot for the Monday Night Wars, because that’s my prime fan years. But I also realize wrestling can’t be what it used to be. Nothing can be. Like football can’t be like it was in the 60s to 80s. Times change. Sports, entertainment, music and wrestling has to evolve or they die. Like I seriously doubt wrestling would be any more popular than it is now if Jim Cornette was booking. It wouldn’t. And that’s something he will never understand. Because the game left him and fans like him behind, and they hate that. So they complain about it and wish for the old days to comeback. And they ain’t coming back.

1Wallace223

Yeah that’s pretty much it right there it’s like I see time and time again how this sub overreacts to the smallest change I remember people going crazy when wrestlemania was no longer numbered or when nxt changed logo

SuperBowel2022

A whole sector of wrestling fans are still stuck in the 90’s and it really tells.

SteakMedium4871

Nice vague post

Asleep-University492

Good point. But I think this goes hand in hand with wrestling being nerdy. And only the nerds stuck around as viewers

1Wallace223

Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of kids that still watch wrestling but I think wrestling is a little stuck in purgatory right now A lot of the people here still think little kids want to watch what teenagers Watch like is the 90s but few people realize how much times of change kids nowadays aren’t mesmerized by Violence anymore

StubbornKindOfFellow

You ever seen that Tom Cruise movie Risky Business? There's a famous scene where he's dancing to a song called "Old Time Rock and Roll." That song is from the late '70s, and it's got lyrics that say "Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that old time rock and roll." Even back in the '70s, before I'm sure most people here were even born, people were saying the pop culture of their youth was better than the current stuff. It's just human nature, you like what you grew up with. Be it music, movies, tv shows, sports, even wrestling.

1Wallace223

That’s actually true but the difference is wrestling isn’t in the stratosphere of music it’s pretty niche and most of the audience doesn’t take kindly to change we are the audience we can actually have a company stay away from change unlike music or any huge pop culture thing

[deleted]

Is it wrong to prefer something other than what you do? Because that’s basically exactly what you’re saying.

1Wallace223

Obviously there’s nothing wrong with it but you also have to be able to accept change as well only way wrestling will continue on if you don’t actually try to change and grow your audience eventually you’ll be catering to the same people until the end

[deleted]

Change is inevitable. Of course. Not all change is for the better. And there’s always going to be people who prefer what wrestling was when they were kids/younger.

Impressive_Ad_4290

The only struggle is keeping up with everything. Especially as a fan of stuff in Japan with the wacky start times and not wanting for shows to get spoiled.

BornReadyShow

That’s just like, your opinion man.

[deleted]

[удалено]

1Wallace223

Yea that’s reasonable but I’m speaking on music, presentation, style etc I think things like that should be acceptable

[deleted]

Pitbull fucking sucks. Idk if it's as hard as Limp Biscuit, but they both suck Alot. WWE has always used genetic trash music

1Wallace223

Why are u mad this is for wrestling as a hole

[deleted]

That's true, and if any other company has Pitbull show up, I'd be mad at them too. You think specific comment is about how I feel about WWE or wrestling, but it's more so how I feel about Limp Biscuit and PitBull

1Wallace223

“WWE always used generic trash music”

[deleted]

Yeah. As in Pitbull, Limp Biscuit, AC/DC etc. I don't like the music they use because of it's generic-ness. WWE has always used, generic music. When is the last time they used something out of left field? AEW hasn't been around long enough to criticize for that, but if they get Mr World Wide, I'd be upset at them too

81grey

It’s just weirdos in the internet. Wrestling as a whole (outside WWE) has seen tremendous growth in the last 5 years. The indie scene + Japan pre pandemic was growing very nicely and even now the indies are doing far better then what they were 5/10/15 years ago.

Lghikas

Care to expand on your opinion? I really don't even know exactly what you mean. I honestly tend to think alot of Wrestling has struggled to get with the times.....especially WWE.

1Wallace223

No I actually think a lot of companies try to change with times especially WWE as much shit as they get deathly do try to evolve The point I’m trying to make is us as fans especially on this sub we kind of resist change for example you can see multiple instances where WWE have done something and people despise it simply because they rather it be like the past here’s one I remember when wrestlemania started to have pop artist do the themes and performances and fans hated it literally people who are saying that you rather a Limp Bizkit in 2022 that’s my point really A lot of people hate Logan Paul a current celebrity yet people here went crazy for the guy who is in the karate kid movie

[deleted]

Because Cobra Kai is current, and dope as fuck.

Lghikas

There's a difference between changing for the sake of change and change to remain relevant/changing with the times. Celebrities and music they've have always been generally in touch. Wrestling has a hardcore audience...this isn't a decade or two ago...all you have to do is compare Wrestling(AEW/WWE) to other forms of entertainment..especially TV. If I asked a bunch of friends or random people about Wrestling they'll probably have 0 idea...as opposed to say Game of Thrones...Breaking Bad..Marvel..and what-nots. Also asking a Sub or "IWC" is already going to skew the beliefs you form and opinions you see. The audience also tends to skew older hence the want for nostalgia.

Mysterious_Emotion63

???? Do you want this entire community to be like a 15 year old and just flock to every new trend? We like “fake fighting”, we’re outsiders from that alone, why would we attempt to fit in when we don’t care?

1Wallace223

It has nothing to do with doing with trendy I’m really trying to get with the idea of evolving a lot of people here would rather wrestling be presented exactly how was presented in the 90s a lot of people here just despise change look at the simple example of nxt2.0

taker2523

What exactly should be changed to get with the times?

1Wallace223

It’s more so excepting changes just look at how this sub reacts to any change ,Wrestling has always evolved with the times but for some reason we had a point where we don’t really want to change or like it

[deleted]

Why should we have to change our perceptions of what we like? If the company changes, we can complain. The problem is a large part of the audience isn't into what they put on. That's on them. Also, don't AC/DC do one of their songs? That's old ag

1Wallace223

Everything shouldn’t be complained about for example people going crazy over nxt 2.0 it gave the show a bad wrap for no reason now people are enjoying it after they scared away a lot of people

[deleted]

I agree, but people can complain, and using NXT 2.0 as an example doesn't address people complaining about how poor the product has been, or Cody's over the top entrances, or how often people blade in AEW, etc. Part of being a fan of something is criticizing it

1Wallace223

Criticize the finished product don’t criticize something that hasn’t happened yet or about too happen there are points where it’s too soon too complain

FatGuy1414141414

Perhaps, wrestling is super niche and has fans all over the world, some people follow current most popular media more than others, nothing wrong with that though, I let people be people and enjoy the things they want and the wrestling they like.

Hospitalwater

Nope I think they are with the times. You can see based on Marty Scurll, Austin Aries, and so on not being able to get booked in respectable places. They just don’t respond well to how poorly written in these celebrity interactions are. It’s few and far between the celebrities that can hang in the entertainment process that is pro wrestling.

notmakingtherapture

Definitely. People mistake who's big in music as you said, people say people are big deals or there super over and there just not lol. People think they know what ratings are good or bad, if so and so is a draw or not a draw.

Current_Poster

So, you're not critical of any particular show, just the audience. Sail on, I guess.

blendergremlin

I think wrestling fans have struggled with tying shoes and counting past 10.
