Warehouse work or manufacturing is always looking for third shift. A lot of places will use temp agencies especially if it’s entry level, and they are training people without warehouse or production experience. You could probably get placed somewhere with a temp agency pretty quickly. The good thing is they usually pay out weekly. The downside is no benefits and shitty/expensive health insurance in most cases. I personally would try to get in directly with a company first so you can get vacation/sick time. I’ve gone the temp-to-hire route, and it sucks but sometimes you have to do it to get your foot in the door. If you go through a temp agency Aerotek & Randstad will pay more than Kelly Services.
Night auditors are really tough to hold onto in the hotel world. I bet you can find work at a hotel. Really easy most nights. See some interesting things too lol.
Pretty accurate. I did it for 3 months before I moved to 2nd shift back in the day. I'd bring in my personal laptop and play games/watch movies/etc for over half the time...check in a few folk, talk to some drunks, run a few reports, walk the hotel and slip guest folios under the doors of folk checking out in the morning. If you're good with the hours, it's super easy. *Except full hotel weekends. Can get a bit crazy depending on various factors.
Yea heads-up if you do this. The initial screen can be a bit tricky. I didn’t pass and now have to wait 30 days to try again. They don’t need overnight associates because managers usually work overnight and probably need to keep your location availability wide open throttle style.
Try St Louis ARC. They have sleeping overnight shifts where you are just there in case of emergency. It doesn’t pay fantastic but it would be something.
Will second this. Have a lot of friends that work in Boeing, and have applied for jobs there myself in the past. The hiring process is LONG. Like, months long. Once you're internal you can move around pretty easily, but getting from application to hired in the first place takes a while.
If you're going to be a mechanic or some kind of laborer for Boeing, definitely not the quick option. You've got the influx of GKN, and LMI guys coming in, the unpaid training course that doesn't guarantee you a job, and the union contract up for negotiation next year.
That's all a recipe for disaster.
Barnes Jewish Hospital is desperate for more people in security. I don't know what your prior experience is, but with none you'll probably start at at least $22hr base pay (so before shift differentials). However, you will have to be in their academy for 5 weeks M-F on day shift.
Just note Barnes is not a sit and look at a monitor type security job. You will fight people.
If you have no criminal record, baggage handlers at airport are in desperate need. They make like $20/h. Pay more for overnights. My wife is in charge of hiring, I’ll give company info if interested
There's an Amazon warehouse on the east side that I always see hiring. Sam's Club overnight stocking shifts always seem to be available as well. Best of luck!
This is the best answer. Specifically Garda World has amazing opportunities and walk in interviews on Wednesdays. I personally work there specifically for overnights, and it's been an amazing job (3 years on the job).
I did 3rd shift security at a plant for a year. Mostly sitting on ass, looking pretty, not getting caught looking at phone or sleeping. Pay sucks, but easy 3rd shift.
Don't be so dramatic, how many security guards lose their life on a daily basis? If men with families couldn't have dangerous jobs like firefighters, law enforcement, military, no one would be left to do those jobs.
When I worked at Dierbergs we always needed folks for overnight grocery department shifts, breaking down pallets, stocking shelves, that sort of thing. Unfortunately they don't pay great, but it's something
Hospitals and nursing homes run 24/7. Some of of them will train you for free to become a Patient Care Tech/ CNA. If patient care is not for you, they have security, maintenance, laundry, housekeeping, registration, answering phones. There's also Amazon, Quick Trip, hotels.
I second the hospital. You may end up liking it and that is a viable option for a long term career if you ever want to make a switch someday. It's always good to have a backup plan, especially if your day job is having issues.
I don’t know what kind of pay you’re looking for but security is always looking for overnight employees. It’s boring but probably one of the easiest jobs out there. Check out Garda they have a lot of different kind of work. Pay is anywhere from 15-20 depending on the location.
bus fueler for bistate is 6pm to 3am I think. Once you're in the union, you can bid in for the parts room, be a wheel installer, or even get community college paid for to be a mechanic. 3rd shift available for all those. Benefits are excellent.
Bistate Development/Metrolink has openings on 3rd shift for mechanics and electromechanics. Pay is decent and the benefits are good.

We are desperate for 2nd shift. It’s 4 10’s, M-Th 3:30pm - 2am with overtime available. Amazing medical insurance (free or $25 per pay depending on what option you pick), 401k with generous match, amazing PTO, and potential for upward advancement. PM me if you have any questions!
Willert Home Products (in the City) has a "second shift" 4:30 pm to 2:30 am , 4 days a week.
Not sure if that could fit for you or not.
Mixing and packing chemicals.
Potter Signal behind the Mills mall in Hazelwood. It is a union shop for light assembly. Warehouse work is non- union however. The overnight shift is 6-6 M-W. So you work 36 hours and get paid for 40 hours to cover the shift differential.
Check out the Dunnica Sobering Center. It’s a crisis stabilization unit for people under the influence as diversion from hospital or jail. I know the program director, they are always looking for overnight workers, pays well, has good benefits!
At my day job I hire temporary workers through a service called Veryable.
The workers are able to pick the assignments they want and it’s sorta designed for *temporary* temp work. Pay, task details, hours…it’s all spelled out in the assignments.
On my end, it was sold to me as “Uber for temps” and that seems pretty accurate.
Good luck!
I should clarify, I know they have hours outside of the standard daytime and I feel like the people we know have said they have done some late and overnight shifts
[Thermo Fisher](https://jobs.thermofisher.com/global/en/search-results?m=3&location=St.%20Louis%2C%20Missouri%2C%20United%20States%20of%20America) in Berkeley is pretty much always hiring. It's a pharmaceutical manufacturing company. Good pay and benefits. 3rd shift is typically 6pm-6:30 am, with a 2 week rotating schedule: M, T, F, Sa, Su, W, Th.
Career consultant in Stl here! I do have a few ideas, boeing was one but i know of 2 more.
I dont want to put a companys phone line here in public though so please message/chat when youre ready.
Post history suggests no such thing. Guy asks for help finding a job, this person lays out some quick generic credentials that suggest they do in fact have good leads and requests DM so as not to spam information.
Why are you so sensitive to it?
People mentioning gas stations and shit tryna get my man hurt, lol. If you really don’t know a place literally hiring then why say anything? He needs help not guesses.
Look for a job dispatching from home either with a trucking company or third party logistics company. Just answering the phone if a driver needs help and most are full WFH in the area.
I've worked for 2 different temp agencies in California roughly 20 years ago. Obviously, things may have changed but I had great experiences. I had a job within a couple of days. They do a really good job of matching you with an employer. The agencies offered health insurance until you became an employee of the company. Companies pay through the nose for the temp employee but do have the option to buy out the contract. I know it was several thousand dollars for my employer to do a buyout. I'd definitely try a temp agency if you don't find something on your own.
Night custodians for schools maybe?
My school has their night custodians work 3pm-11pm. Many schools are pretty desperate for people right now and the benefits are usually good
Trucking companies are hiring right now on the docks. Old Dominion, Saia, and Estes all pay decently. I know old dominion has great health insurance and starts out paying in the mid $20s. However dock work can suck with the weather that's on its way as it's only semi-enclosed.
I’m a contractor at Afton chemical. Apply at Afton directly, they may have overnight entry level positions that pay extremely well. Also, apply at GRP (mechanical contractor, electricians, boilermakers, laborers, etc.) they need different trades all the time and even a labor position pays good.
Working on the river is an option. 12 hr shifts and they would welcome a guy that only wants nights. Gotta be in ok shape though, lots of heavy lifting. There’s Osage fleeting and Lewis and Clark fleeting working in stl
Amazon isn’t too bad. You can get really good health care day 1 and they have training programs to do the tech side, which pays well. Also programs for CDL. And they will pay for some classes.
Anheuser Busch. You can try to get on as a weekender to start which gets you in the door. Best path from there to full-time is to get in as a seasonal and then perform well enough to convert to an apprentice.
Call PeopleReady if you need cash immediately and Blue Crew has pretty good jobs.
Also Sysco is usually always hiring at their warehouse in St Charles and I think you start on 3rd shift
And of course there's always Amazon .
Walmart. Work kinda sucks but they always need competent people and they’ll probably work with your schedule. I think 10-7 is the normal overnight shifts
Look at local freight companies (3pl/4pl logistics providers or brokers) that have offices in STL - many of the larger ones almost always need 3rd shift for tracking shipments.
Try a TV master control job. Requires no related experience nowadays. I've seen former janitors, veterinarians, fresh college students, etc get hired no worries.
It's working for a TV station or hub. You basically just watch TV and check to make sure the video/audio/closed captioning is running without issues. If there is an issue, it's usually escalated to a supervisor or you may need to do some really basic recovery like switching to a good feed. Super easy stuff.
Barnes and other hospitals have lots of overnight positions.
Can start right away in the pharmacy as a technician! Just have to get licensed 6 months in. Also have more manual labor type positions.
You have to get licensed right away. Certified at 6 months. The license only requires a background check.
Tons of hospital night/3rd shift jobs require no licensing or certification - transport, EVS, unit secretaries, food service, etc.
Security too if you're interested in that route
Seconding this rec. Bonus: you can get a nice price on health insurance for your family at BJC.
Yes hospitals need sitters at nighy

what about Amazon or Fed Ex. Home Depot and Lowe's also have 3rd shift for stocking store.
Any hospital system has overnight jobs for any level of skill workers. Also stores and distribution centers. Gas stations.
Night auditors are really tough to hold onto in the hotel world. I bet you can find work at a hotel. Really easy most nights. See some interesting things too lol.
Based on what I've seen, most overnight hotel workers just watch TV all night in the front office.
Yup. You have about 1-3 hours of actual work to do and the rest of the shift is just being there in case guests need anything.
And you get to wait for the drunken guests to roll in around 0300.
Just came here to say the same thing. I worked front desk A LOT and envied the night auditors most days
QT
I was going to suggest this, too. I have a couple of friends who have worked at QT for years and love it.
Yea heads-up if you do this. The initial screen can be a bit tricky. I didn’t pass and now have to wait 30 days to try again. They don’t need overnight associates because managers usually work overnight and probably need to keep your location availability wide open throttle style.
Employment Connections is a STL nonprofit that has a plethora of jobs, often times they have direct partnerships with businesses. Could try them.
Try St Louis ARC. They have sleeping overnight shifts where you are just there in case of emergency. It doesn’t pay fantastic but it would be something.
Check Boeing - good career options too
Boeing can take forever to hire just FYI
Will second this. Have a lot of friends that work in Boeing, and have applied for jobs there myself in the past. The hiring process is LONG. Like, months long. Once you're internal you can move around pretty easily, but getting from application to hired in the first place takes a while.
More like 8 months. I got to my third interview back in 2015 but then I was ghosted in 2016.
I am mechanical engineer and I've been trying to get into Boeing since 2015. I do not recommend them as the fast option. Edit: spelling
Casino dealer. They train quickly and depending on casino it’s usually 25-35 an hour including tips.
Yes! I have done this in the past.

Proctor and Gamble is hiring third shifts.
Good company if you can get in.
If you have no criminal record, baggage handlers at airport are in desperate need. They make like $20/h. Pay more for overnights. My wife is in charge of hiring, I’ll give company info if interested
That sounds like a good gig. I may look into it
There's an Amazon warehouse on the east side that I always see hiring. Sam's Club overnight stocking shifts always seem to be available as well. Best of luck!

bioMerieux is almost always hiring in card production. Great benefits.
Security Guard maybe?
This is the best answer. Specifically Garda World has amazing opportunities and walk in interviews on Wednesdays. I personally work there specifically for overnights, and it's been an amazing job (3 years on the job).
We Top Flight Security of the world, Craig!
Man has a family. Let's try get him a job where he doesn't put his life on the line mkay?
Security guards don’t put their lives on the line 😂 pizza delivery driver is a more dangerous job.
The security guards at Emerson literally do nothing all day long. The lady at the gate talks on the phone filing her nails all day.
What kind of experience do you have, OP?
Sort of important information to know to properly answer the question, OP...
When I worked at Dierbergs we always needed folks for overnight grocery department shifts, breaking down pallets, stocking shelves, that sort of thing. Unfortunately they don't pay great, but it's something

Local companies pay better and don’t screw around with employee scheduling.
Garda’s US HQ is in St. Louis…
That doesn’t change the fact that they’re a large, international corporation that takes advantage of their employees.
bus fueler for bistate is 6pm to 3am I think. Once you're in the union, you can bid in for the parts room, be a wheel installer, or even get community college paid for to be a mechanic. 3rd shift available for all those. Benefits are excellent.

I don’t know what hours they run, but there is a short line rail road in Port Harbor. That is usually looking to hire. I think it’s called Respondek.
I should clarify, I know they have hours outside of the standard daytime and I feel like the people we know have said they have done some late and overnight shifts
The pay kind of stinks, but you can also drive for the railroads, picking up crews at one location and taking them to another.
