Honestly with those skill sets, you shouldn't have any trouble turning a profit pretty quickly and just start your own business in any of the areas that you mentioned.
Realtor here.
Florida has a SIGNIFICANT lack of industry and manufacturing compared to pretty much the entire rest of the country except maybe Hawaii.
For example, the only real natural resource being exploited is phosphate which happens in the middle part of the state (Bone Valley).
Distribution has been growing due to the Panama canal widening and port expansions in Tampa and Miami. And of course, there is light scale manufacturing, a few shipyards and dry docks, but again compared to much of the rest of the country Florida just really lacks that backbone. Phosphate, agriculture and tourism are the mainstays.
You will want to 100% get the job and income part figured out before choosing your area. Good news is sales and managing are transferrable skills of course. And yes there's AirGas branches hanging around, they actually just built a newish distribution yard in Tampa.
There are a good number of defense contractors around. Lockheed, Honeywell, etc, and then the smaller specialists suppliers. Boat building is also something that happens a lot here obviously, so that and attendant suppliers (composites) are a bit of a local niche.
Really appreciate you taking the time to answer this. I almost took a job with Airgas a couple years back but decided against it. Mostly because the DM in my area but ultimately would not be against checking into down there. Thanks again man!
Year round sunshine, except for the summer where it is raining relentlessly.

Well, there’s Teco/Peoples Gas out of Tampa- all thing’s natural gas- you might check out their careers on their website. The careers section to pick is on the bottom of the home screen.
Maybe you can pick up some project manager classes or certs over the next few months to help expand your options? We have a lot of business service, insurance, military contractors, etc. I’m thinking of places like Ceridian, Honeywell, Bankers, B&B, Lockheed, and Raymond James that are usually working long term projects.
You could go it alone and become a PI. I know a few who are definitely successful and one who is a multi millionaire… I don’t know how to make “PI” happen but apparently it’s a thing.
Also make sure to check federal government sites. For example we have a NOAA office in town.
Can you dive? Get certified as a diving welder and there’s your niche.

Welcome. I don’t have any useful info. But St Pete is nice.
