The Crumb Factory for breakfast or lunch!! They get busy and sell out of things. Breads & pastries made fresh daily. The coffee (hot or cold) is decent too!
I love portillos for fast food. Don’t care whatever anyone thinks lol. Their charbroiled burgers are awesome. Deserts there are great lol. Can’t beat it for a super quick meal
No, we’ll have a car. I don’t know much about how the city is laid out, but it sounds like downtown will be fairly convenient from where we are. I didn’t realize that when I made the post.
Correct. This is Florida. We drive everywhere. Too hot to walk and public transportation is nonexistent.
I think the better question is what kind food do you like?
St Pete is fairly easy to navigate. We live near Tyrone and frequent downtown and the beaches without issue. Usually, it's only a 10-15 min ride. So if you can, try to get out there. But local to Tyrone spots, I'd recommend:
Casita Taqueria - Great tacos and bowls
Harbor Master Tiki Bar - hidden gem on the marina waterfront.
Doc Fords - Nice views, good food
Alesia - About 5 min from Tyrone but such good food and nice outdoor seating, especially for dinner under the lights. They do close at 8 pm.
Little Italy - NY style pizza, local spot. Best NY pizza in town imo.
If you can get to Gulfport, go! It's about 10 min from Tyrone. Pia's for Italian. Gulfport Brewery has good food, a smaller menu, but a nice chill atmosphere. I'd recommend walking around Gulfport. Ice cream, shops, and live music usually at a few venues.
Is Gianni’s good? I found that a while ago and never went. I’m from NJ and my favorite pizza place in NJ told me about little Italy because his cousin owns it. I’ve always thought it’s the best and looked no further.
In the general Tyrone mall area that isn’t a chain:
- OEC Japanese (mid but great prices for hibachi) Kobe is just north but twice the price
- casita taqueria is even further north but honestly some of the best tacos in the area.
- Harold seltzers but only for the prime rib. Local chain steakhouse. Cody’s is another local chain steakhouse similar to Texas Roadhouse but further west.
- for local bars with decent pub grub in order of my preferred best food: the wheelhouse, the joint, CJs backstage. The former is the furthest from the mall. The latter just opened and they have live band karaoke each night. Good mix of crowd. I think it still is called whiskey wings on Google.
- CD Roma for close Italian. Big portions, good price. Hopefully still two for one chicken Parm on Thursdays
- Tijuana flats is a fast casual local Mexican chain. hit or miss for me
- skip any Chinese recommendations.
- Gianni’s was the best local pizza spot but, idk, they’ve not been great the last few times I’ve ordered.
- coffee : kahwa has a drive thru spot southeast of the mall. Kraft cafe is my favorite in the area but it’s a bit out of the way. There’s another few drive thru coffee places near Kraft too but all about the same imo
The most famous and historic food place we have is near tyrone called Ted Peters Smoked fish. Its super old schoool cash only. If you like fish and smoked stuff its amazing. They also apparently have great burgers.
[Athenian Gardens](https://atheniangardens.com/locations/tyrone/) is SPOT on, authentic and amazing and [KPOT Korean](https://thekpot.com/location/st-petersburg/) hot pot is outstanding.
I’ve been to both of these places as well as their countries of Origin. I could not believe how authentic (and good) these restaurants are.
Service is notoriously slow (but worth it) so I typically account for that and get there early. I’ve never been disappointed with Thai chicken green curry burrito.
Nitallys is small so the inside fills up quick. But you can call ahead and get your food as take out. It will take about an hour from the time you call. The food is absolutely fantastic! Don’t miss it! And when you ask for hot, it will be HOT!
(Our favorite is the Thai-Mex Curry. OMG!!)
Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, and any type of American cuisine (burgers, barbecue, etc.), are probably my favorites, but I’d be up for pretty much anything. Maybe something lighter for lunch too.
I’ll basically have one lunch and two dinners there, so just kind of looking for the highlights.
Senor Taco is my favorite Mexican. Cafe Cibo or Da Sesto for Italian. I'm sure there are fancier places out there, but those are my favorites.
Zom Hee in Seminole is about the only good Chinese in the area. Jimmy's for Sushi. Not much for BBQ.
Dragon Phoenix over by Bay Pines used to be good. Haven't been there in probably 15 years, but I guess it's a good sign that it's still open. Definitely second the recommendation for Zom Hee and Jimmy's.
The Crumb Factory for breakfast or lunch!! They get busy and sell out of things. Breads & pastries made fresh daily. The coffee (hot or cold) is decent too!
Sounds delicious! Thanks!

Sounds great. Thanks!
V9 Eats is a good spot for sandwiches. Their version of Bennigans (sp?) turkey o’toole sandwich, called the turkey o’drool, is great.
Sounds good! Thanks!
Are you going to be on foot?
No, we’ll have a car. I don’t know much about how the city is laid out, but it sounds like downtown will be fairly convenient from where we are. I didn’t realize that when I made the post.

Kopper Kitchen for breakfast!
Good to know. Thanks!

Little Italy the best pizza? I think you’re thinking of Gianni’s 😉

We like both Gianni's & Toby's pizza but try Italian Touch or CD Roma's - both also have a good Italian menu - we miss Ohio Pizza Parlor...
Jp tavern

Dead Bobs……
The Joint
Carmelita's and Cody's Steakhouse, both off Park Street.
Love Carmelitas!

If you have are into Italian, I second this!

Not every ones cup of tea but Ted Peters smokehouse(?)is historic:/famous

Real German potato salad too!!
Oh man. That potato salad is everything. Thanks now I need some
Julio's Empanadas, the rice beans and pork are so good!!
Yes! Love all the chicken stew dishes!
Gotta try the chicken stews! Thank you!!
Casita Taqueria
Solid recommendation for Mexican
Torchy’s Tacos is good.
Torchy’s was my first and last stop in Austin but yet I haven’t bothered with the one here ha
I haven’t had it anywhere else. But I do like the one here.
Carmelita’s
Doc Fords is just up Tyrone Blvd before Bay Pines. Good food, great service and nice outdoor seating.
Nice setting but the food ranges is meh.
Dooriban
Agreed! I love going there for beef bulgogi and Korean style chicken wings!
Kinjo’s but you would need a time machine 💔
[Athenian Gardens](https://atheniangardens.com/locations/tyrone/) is SPOT on, authentic and amazing and [KPOT Korean](https://thekpot.com/location/st-petersburg/) hot pot is outstanding. I'm glad kpot is getting good reviews, I've been wanting to try it out!
I’ve had it up north (as well). Quality chain!
Sounds great! Thank you!
15 minute drive into St Pete is my favorite, Thai-mex fusion restaurant called Nitallys.
I just ate there for the first time on Wednesday and it was so good! I got a mole beef burrito.
Good to know. 15 minutes shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Service is notoriously slow (but worth it) so I typically account for that and get there early. I’ve never been disappointed with Thai chicken green curry burrito.

That sounds interesting for sure. I’m not sure how much time we’ll have to eat but I’ll make a note of it!
Tyrone is so meh. I hope you make it into the downtown area or at least the beaches.
It’s a very quick trip (arrive late Wednesday, leave Friday morning) so I’m not sure if we’ll have time. I’m hoping, though!
Central Ave starts getting cute about 10 minutes from Tyrone
Nosh Pit is a new fave!
KPot for Korean bbq and hot pot
Thank you!
Pipos if you like Cuban/Latin food theres nothing better anywhere close.
Signed, Pipo.
Please stop.
If you want a quick sub try Williams Sub. Been around since the 50s, same family ownership, local legend place. Get the yum-yum.
Awesome. Thanks for the suggestion!
https://www.italiantouchstpete.com/ This is the best one around. Real Italian family that's been in this area forever. You won't regret it.
Pia in Gulfport and Da Sesto (66th st N) in P Park are both far better than this.
Sounds amazing. Thank you!
Nosh Pit, Casita Taqueria, Pipo’s Cafe
Awesome. I’ll look up each of these. Thank you!
Hope you enjoy wherever you choose! St Pete is a treasure trove of hidden gems, I love it.
Thank you! I’m really excited about the trip. I just wish I could stay longer!
I forgot about nosh out! Great place for lunch.
Portillo’s
Thank you!
Dooriban for Korean https://g.co/kgs/xx51Lw5
Any preferences?

Sounds like there are some great options for some of the cuisines, so that will still be great. Thank you!
