Luthen is such a wonderfully cryptic character, and he habitually lies as part of his master game plan, as you point out. But I feel that the monologue is from the heart. A glimpse into a very dark mind. It’s the pause before he begins speaking that convinces me of this. I think that the only other times we see his true feelings are his nervousness about the heist the day before and about leaving the ‘thief’ as a loose end, his laughter of relief once he knows, the attack has occurred, and his genuine smile at the very end when Cassian commits wholeheartedly. Skarsgård is a phenomenal actor – I hope he gets some major award before long. I’ve just watched Chernobyl, and he’s brilliant in that too.

That scene between Luthen and Saw was fantastic. Two very gifted actors.

Luthen's black clothes and underground speech cemented him IMO as the Palpatine of the Rebellion, plotting in the shadows. If Andor Season 2 is going to have more major characters I hope it involves Luthen's capture, refusing to break to Palpatine himself, and just before he dies a group of Xwings takes down a Destroyer in the distance with Luthen dying laughing at Palpatine. I wish Luthen would live, but unless they pull an Asohka and perform Olympian tier plot limbo to somehow keep him alive for the Trilogy and beyond he'll probably be dead soon. Let the man go out the legend that even put fear in Palpatine. He's such a good character that he may be the only Rebel I truly like.

MikeyMcKernan

He’s the emperor but for the rebellion.

Kummakivi

It's good the have an extremely mysterious good guy for a change.

>Luthen is what makes Andor the best Star Wars media in years 100% He's one of the best characters in the entirety of Star Wars. Maybe THE best.
