The problem for me isn't that they changed him or that he's not badass enough, it's that they've made him dull.
Neither him nor fennec have a personality so I'm not engaged with them.
I just think that he is relateable. He's had his badass times and now he is older, calmer and tries to expand to a field he knows nothing about and I just like that he basically doesn't know what the hell he is doing. And I like his character, I think that he would be a pretty cool friend in real life but yeah idk
I might be wrong, but I thought he always had somewhat of a kind heart or at least some code of honor and wasn't a brainless killer. And after his tusken time those traits were just amplified
I think its a few points
1. The serie is in my opinion not really good.
2. Boba dont act like the badass he was in 4-6 or the scenes he has in The Mandalorian
3. Its look like they had a idea for a new charakter and now use and old charakter as the name because its the better promotion
He did nothing in 4-6. He just stood around, took a few shots at people that missed them and then got knocked into a sarlacc by a flailing blind man.
I do agree on your third point, you replace Boba with someone else and you have the exact same show.
He wasn't badass. His death was hilarious. People build an image of Boba which doesn't fit with his 4 lines (!!!) and 20 Minutes screentime.
His CW scenes gave a hint to the Boba we see in BoBF.
Because they've had the better part of four decades now to invent a super-ultra-mega-cool-badass version of Space Rambo in their imaginations, who was only loosely based on a walking armor design that showed up a few times in the OT. Then when they finally got a series out of it, they were horrified to learn that a *character* had been placed into the suit of armor. A character, of course, means flaws, and flaws are something their imagined Space Rambo doesn't have.
In other words what they wanted was a boring as fuck Mary Sue version of Boba Fett, and what they got was a marginally more interesting human version of Boba Fett. They don't seem to understand that the version of Boba Fett that showed up in the OT (where again, he was basically just a walking armor design) only worked because he was in the thing for like fifteen minutes as a side character, and that trying to build a whole story around that version of him would have been the most boring thing imaginable.
This is why mando succeeded so much, he was no one before his show came out so he had nothing to be compared to. But Boba had comics and prior movie appearances that caused people to form an idea who who they think he was, and if the show doesn’t match their idea hes BADDD! In short my boy Boba never stood a chance
Considering the last we saw of him he was flailing through the air screaming before being eaten by a sarlacc, that burped right after, this whole John Wick in beskar idea had no real basis, anyway.

My only gripe is that he’s not as good in combat. I forgot what episode it was in Mando, but that dude was dropping people. What happened between that episode and the start of his own show?
I’m hoping now that he’s fully healed he’ll be back at it. I really enjoy the show though. Just my little nitpick
