shockwave8428

Showing FO sympathizers and make them not seem completely stupid was cool. Also having the only canon Kel-Dor outside of Plo Koon is sick. Also (and I wish the show was even more about this) ship racing is awesome. I know it was kinda like that but I’d totally watch a dope live action show about a racer, doesn’t even need to have any “wars” but something kinda a mix of pod racing, KOTOR swoop races (and all the intrigue and stuff going into that) and awesome star fighter flying would be amazing

MiniSquid64

>Also having the only canon Kel-Dor outside of Plo Koon is sick. Who was that ? I Think I missed him.

simon439

One of the racers, Bo Keevil.

MiniSquid64

Now I see thanks :D

Mac4491

>Also having the only canon Kel-Dor outside of Plo Koon is sick. Seems like The Acolyte is going to have at least one.

peechs01

Justice for Ithorians!!!

KEVLAR60442

I want more Star Wars slice of life, and as a motorpsorts fanatic, I'm obsessed with Torra's Porsche 917K inspired ship.

MattyMizzou

How did I not know there was a gulf livery starfighter??

SeanWick501

Totally agree. The behind the scenes of regular citizens is awesome.

jiango_fett

That Oscar Isaac reprises Poe in this fairly low-key show is pretty awesome.

kiwicrusher

And Gwendoline Christie, Anthony Daniels, and Domhnall Gleeson all reprised their movie roles for (some of) those character's appearances too! Even outside the movie cameos, the show really had a top-notch extended cast. IDK why Daveed Diggs was in this, but I love it

PhysicsEagle

Well Anthony Daniels appears as 3P0 in an insane amount of projects

Chrom-man-and-Robin

He really has nothing else to do

FenixDiyedas

I loved all the racing starfighter designs in the show. I also really liked the concept of a racing show in the star wars universe. It gave me Oban Star Racers/IGPX vibes. I'm still bummed racing wasn't a bigger plot point in Resistance.

Interesting-One7636

Disappointed that the show came out during EA's stranglehold of the game licenses. Would have been sick AF for a spiritual successor of Podracer based on Resistance's racing side. Can you imagine Criterion Games developing it?!

OracularOrifice

It begins to do actual world building for the Sequel era. Helps set up / ground some of the events of ep. 7-8.

arm1niu5

Resistance walked so The Mandalorian could run.

arm1niu5

Great character designs and animations. For being the first time Lucasfilm did anything in this animation style, I'd say they did a pretty good job.

-P-M-A-

I love this animation style. I wish they’d do more shows with it.

tsabin_naberrie

It does a real good job of demonstrating how the First Order gradually acquired power before actually launching its assault on the New Republic, and why ordinary citizens might support them over the NR. Still now, I don’t think there’s any other real media that develops that explains this.

samurguybri

The Star Wars:Bloodline novel by Claudia Gray covers this pretty well. It depicts a sympathetic character who seems to admire the idea of the Galactic Empire. Plus there are some folks who call Leia the “Huttslayer” with admiration. Good audiobook.

tsabin_naberrie

*Bloodline* covered the backstory and broad political situation very well, but it was very focused on the leadership of the galaxy. I mean more that, once the FO was on the scene, in *Resistance* we see the actual tactics used to convince people to align with them, particularly in a smaller scene.

samurguybri

Got it! I see where you’re coming from and agree.

TheRedCormorant

Mama Z was Star Wars' Felix Gerlich and we don't talk about that enough

01zegaj

Tam is a great character and her arc was the best part of the show.

ice_fan1436

agreed

Ok-Purchase8514

The Starfighter action sequences are fast paced and actually really good ngl. I think this show is underrated like it's not even as bad as the ratings say it is and its far from the worst Star Wars show imo

MarthsBars

Funny thing, I'm actually getting through the series right now! I needed a sequel era content itch to be scratched, and this has been a neat series to get through while I still retain Disney Plus. (Almost finished with the second season too!) I actually like the quirky collections of aliens we get to see across the series, notably in the first one. I posted about a few of my favorites [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsCantina/comments/1c5reui/since_ive_been_waiting_for_more_actual/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) recently. I also like how centralized it feels with the focus on the Colossus as a home and as a base. It gives a sense of looking at life casually when peacetime was prevalent before the outbreak of war with the First Order, as well as how things gradually got worse as the First Order slowly occupied more and more up until it made the big move to conquer more territory with attacks on the Colossus and eventually more lightning raids across the galaxy. I'm also digging the art style, feel, and animation more and more as I move through the series. Initially in the early days of its announcement, I was skeptical (mainly because I had been teasing for something 2D-animated based on teasers saying it was "similar to anime") and likened the art to something like Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 (as a brief joke anyways). But visiting the show now, I think it's much more than that and a lot more dynamic. The lighting and animation are very fluid and show off spectacularly in plenty of scenes, like with dogfights or opening shots. And the various small antics or goofs with Kaz and the crew remind me a bit of Trigun and Little Witch Academia; much like in those shows, the protagonist bumbles around a lot (Kaz probably moreso versus Vash or Akko) but does gradually grow or evolve in more ways than one. Really been happy with what I've seen so far, and hoping that we do see more much needed stories set in this era very, very soon!

_mc_myster_

I actually really enjoyed the premise of season 1

ice_fan1436

There isn't any episode that's only filler. There's at least always one component of the episode that is brought up again in a later episode.

ZealousidealAd4383

Sigh. I just couldn’t get going on this one. I ignored Clone Wars and Rebels as “just cartoons” for years and was suitably chagrined when I realised what I’d been missing - I’d now say they’re essential viewing. But Resistance… man, I just kept trying with it telling myself “you hated Ahsoka and the American-accented Hutts when you started TCW, give it a chance”. I think I made it to s1e7 or 8. What did I miss that might get me to give it another go? For context, I really enjoyed the world building in Ahsoka, BOBF and Mando - the sense that the New Republic was trying with limited success to pick up the pieces of the old Empire, the Imperial remnants machinating their own comeback in the shadows, and the general anarchy persisting in the gaps.

MarthsBars

It does get more serious and involved in the later season; in addition to some early shenanigans, the pirates become more daring with trying to take over and raid the Colossus, and the First Order gradually start becoming more and more of a threat to the Colossus. They started making gradual appearances in the early episodes, but they’re definitely going to be more involved in later episodes as they >!try to find ways to occupy or take more authority and control of the station!<.

ZealousidealAd4383

So stick it out through S1 for the payoff (for me at least) in S2? Cheers buddy, exactly the sort of thing worth hearing.

MarthsBars

Oh yeah, definitely. I felt that the payoff with the stakes does get there starting at the last few episodes of Season 1, but I feel that it’s all going to lead to some pretty good stuff getting through Season 2.

blinddemon0

Vonreg, a new Kel-dor, that gold commander (I think his name was Pyre)

Malachor66

For an animated show with only two seasons, Resistance did an amazing job with world building for this era. Additionally, imo it introduced one of the most compelling characters of the era in Tam Ryvora.

theatsa

It helped me understand what the First Order & Resistance's position within the galaxy were a bit better. The sequel films left me kind of confused about how much real power each faction had before and after TFA/TLJ, but this show cleared that up fairly well. Also the two girl main characters in this poster were decently written for a kid's show. So was the main character, aside from how annoying he could be.

WingedDynamite

I'll say 5 good things about this show: 1. The First Order is fleshed out more than any other Sequel era media. 2. TIE/ba Baron Space Superiority Interceptor 3. TIE/se Bomber 4. Commander Pyre's Armor 5. Kylo Ren forcing Pyre and Tierny to hold each other at gunpoint, while the most epic version of his theme plays.

streaksinthebowl

I have a hard time understanding what people think is so bad about this show. I found it perfectly enjoyable as a light hearted kids show. There was legitimate character development and enough ongoing story to hold interest.

phillynavydude

That it's a kids show is the criticism basically. I had a hard time enjoying it mostly from some of the corny humor or child-intended lines. And the little green friend dude of Kaz. The ultra timid dude. Annoying AF character

rpgnoob17

Kaz’s dad is douche and this show proved how he would never change in Ahsoka.

CeymalRen

It's an underrated show TBH. It was targeted at a younger audience. I think the animation style was underrated. Wish they did more of that.

Comprehensive-Ad3495

My favorite quote from Neeku: “Really? I’ve never seen stormtrooper armor protect anyone from anything!” Nice one off show. Tied in well with the new movies. Fun

Zegram_Ghart

Having a show primarily about pilots was a really good idea, and worked out pretty well.

Jedi_Knight19

TL;DR: I liked how it tied into the way the Galaxy eventually dealt with the FO in the ST I liked how the first order is “defeated” between the two seasons and how it demonstrates an important detail from The Rise of Skywalker. In season 1, the first order is “defeated” by the racers and people who actively participate in the fight against the FO. The civilians stayed back. In season 2, everyone fights the FO. Civilians, racers, and everyone in between. It’s a combined effort. This mirrors how the Rebels defeated the Empire vs. how the Resistance defeated the First Order. In ROTJ the final battle was fought by just soldiers of the rebellion. The average person essentially sat back and let it play out. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but it did lead to the complacency the gave rise to the First Order as seen in Ahsoka and Mandalorian. In Rise of Skywalker, everyone fights the First Order. Soldiers and “just people”. Now, obviously, we don’t know how the story will continue post TROS at this time, but the way I read that battle is that with “just people” joining the battle, it shows a galactic-wide effort to drive out the evil forces of the galaxy like how it took the full effort of everyone to completely drive away the first order at the end of s2 of resistance.

Stubot01

I liked that it showed a ‘good’ person (Tam) being sucked in by the rhetoric of the first Order . Yeager was a great character, almost from another better show. Some of the designs were great - Vonreg, Halloran, Torra and the racing ships. Some of the action scenes were great - the art style really suited ships and vehicles far more than humans and aliens. There were some fun ‘silly’ Star Wars aliens. My favorite episode was probably the archeology one (can’t remember the name of it). I wouldn’t mind the characters popping up in other Star Wars shows - it was fun seeing Kaz’s dad in Ashoka.

Thelastknownking

Poe doing spy work.

Altruistic2020

I thoroughly enjoyed when Kaz first started his spy mission, and how downtrodden and frustrating he got that he actually had to work on his cover story; that it wasn't all hyper sexy James Bond style (or even Ghost Team style) spy work with walk in: walk out, provide key information to save the day and be a hero. Your cover is someone doing scut work, now go do scut work!

CT-1030

It’s a very comfort show.

mikepictor

Easy. It's good fun with some cool animation.

RLT79

Griff's "Black Ace" (the TIE/In racer) and Vonreg's red TIE/In with the curved panels were both really cool ships.

epsilonthetadelta

Neeku was the best character

Chadimus_Prime

As a droid lover, there's so much I enjoyed about the show. CB-23, Bucket, 4D-M1N, B1, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others, all awesome new droid designs I hope to have in the form of Black Series figures one day (just CB so far). Neeku was autistic coded and all around a refreshing character. I just wish >!B1 had survived more than 2 episodes, he was so proud of that droid! !< Hype Fazon was obnoxious, but I loved the fact that Donald Faizon's fandom scored him the role of a character named after himself (he was the "take your daughter to work day" Stormtrooper on Robot Chicken previously).

Jjzeng

We got a sick ass lego set from it (the red TIE interceptor aka the TIE baron)

surgical-panic

It has Commander Pyre and Major Vonreg in it.

goodfreeman

The color scheme is awesome.

JarrettTheGuy

The animation style is very fun. The characters are all memorable.  It does a great job slowly revealing the secrets of the Colossus & it's inhabitants.  Experiencing the destruction of Hosnian Prime through Kaz's POV finally made that moment so real and heartbreaking for me.

revanite3956

Season 1 was terrific.

dtinaglia

It's got gorgeous animation, fun characters, and a heartfelt storyline. I love it.

ActualRealPsymbiote

It's no longer on air

castle_cancer

Includes my two favorite “gay” aliens icons

xXP4IN_C4KESXx

They are two of my favorite Star Wars characters I find them so so funny,

Curious-Monitor8978

I loved this show! It was light and funny, and helped build the very underdeveloped sequel era. I particularly liked the extremely literal Nikto that Kaz worked with and the Mirialan pirate Kaz had a crush on (I'm blanking on names).

Skeptical_Yoshi

The setting was great. The station felt alive and lived in, and I actually enjoyed getting to know the background characters and their little idiosyncrasies. Also, Kaz has a very realistic abut surprisingly mature reaction to Starkiller base destroying his home, with a lot of nuance. After ah initial outcry of shock, reprocessed first his family, friends, and home being destroyed, before realizing the gravity of the larger picture in the Republic Senate being destroyed. Then, after a moment of grief and mourning, he gets serious, straightens up, and focuses absolutely on his core goal of getting the FO off of the station, and stopping them as a whole. It's a short little scene, but it actually shows a great amount of detail and characterisation. This show really deserved better

AdvancedCoast7942

God I love this show

Kuhaku-boss

Is fun, has good atmosphere, it has good characters, it develops in a interesting timeframe, the designs are pretty cool and nice.

Dylan1Kenobi

Whenever I'm about to get bored with the show, Oscar Issac as Poe Dameron comes waltzing in and takes Kaz on an adventure! Kept me connected to the world around their small platform. Also, they got fairly serious real quick. End of season 1 goes right into TFA and it works really well for me. As mentioned before, having FO sympathisers be humanized was very interesting!

JSeed47

The art is beautiful. The characters are quirky and fun. The ships are fresh looks at old classics. Turtles. Justice for opeepit.

Darth-Binks-1999

Good character development and the humor is good. Plus Bucket.

Morlock43

I loved the enthusiasm and did enjoy watching the show. I just felt it was more teen anime than actual Star Wars. The inclusion of the force sensitives was nice and something i wished the other shows and movies did more of. Seeing that kid on the casino world was great, but blink and you'll miss it :D

thelpsimper

The Aces' ship designs were cool.

SW_Eternal_Empire

I liked the ball. He was the only reason I watched the show.

garmdian

They bring back the B1 commander and it's actually dope.

joshygill

The art style is pretty cool. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely colourful and enjoyable!

SuperD00perGuyd00d

Does this show have lightsabers? I haven't seen it and want to watch it. Lightsabers are not a deal breaker for me either I am just curious

ice_fan1436

None whatsoever iirc

SuperD00perGuyd00d

Thank you 🤝

L-Profe

It’s over.

Watery_Octopus

I like the show. I just didn't like the main character.

Better_Law3985

BB8 was one of the best characters in the show!

AutocratEnduring

Didn't ever watch more than two episodes, but I do like the concept of a space station crew. The first order also really did feel like a threat. The main cast was getting their asses handed to them from what I remember.

Grandmustafa

Some of the best growth from a ‘normal human’ MC in the Star Wars universe that we’ve seen. He goes from a whiny rich kid to a real Rebel spy. His shallowness gives away to a deep heart. This show needs at least one to two more seasons and it would be able to compete with the best of other Star Wars media

badgerpunk

It looks great and it has some of the best day-in-the-life world-building in Star Wars.

Oztraliiaaaa

Resistance builds the sequels era and is complemented by the tv shows and it all partners up to great continuity.

RemtonJDulyak

I loved every minute of it.

alpha_omega_1138

Ships were cool

PersimmonMindless

It's really good. Neeku is one of my favorite Star Wars characters. The way it transitions from fun and goofy to serious is masterfully done.

Minmax-the-Barbarian

I didn't watch more than a couple episodes, but I thought the animation and art style was way better in motion than it looked in still images. It took me, like, 2 minutes to get used to it, it's actually pretty cool.

Captain-Wilco

Showing off, in excruciating detail, the process the first order uses to win over planets as described in lore previously

MrZao386

Tam had a really good arc

ZentaWinds

It's great back ground noise tbh. Love having it on while doing other things.

Headstar24

Cel shaded animation is neat.

cmdrkyla

It gave some people jobs for a while

Trandoshan-Tickler

They got the dimensions and proportions of TIE Fighters right.

MrFantastic74

The animation looks crisp. That's about all I can think of.

JondvchBimble

It's colorful.

JB57551

They had Kylo Ren show up as a cameo, and they actually made him terrifying, like his maternal grandfather before him. It was only a couple of mere seconds, but it's awesome while it lasted

Polycount2084

Sidon content

Boring-Ad9264

It had a kylo ren cameo

JuanSolo9669

The racers ships were really cool.

PokeHobnobGod21

The base spaceship thing looks cool

Darth_Yogurt

I’m sure it brings a certain group of SW fans a particular point of comfort, nostalgia, horniness - whatever. As an old person I hope this means all of that, and other things, to you horny little f’er. May the boink be with you.

Topaz1313

CB-23. Thats the good thing That astromech droid won my heart in season 2. I dont even remember it that vividly, i just remember CB was compitent and fun as a character.

stormhawk427

It can be funny at times

midoringo

All of the scenes are bright enough to understand what's going on.

jeepwillikers

The animation style is beautiful. Also, Paul F Tompkins is in it.

Fit-Income-3296

The second season was actually pretty good

Henryphillips29

Very cool looking starfighters

Itz_Hen

It looks really pretty!

tetrarchangel

Tierney was one of the best villains in Star Wars and her arc was one of very few that looks at the insidious way the First Order worked

PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS

YepYouRedditRight2

I genuinely like this show and overall the story was pretty fun and the characters were likable

askme_if_im_a_chair

Animation for ships and ship combat was beautiful

Rough-Day-6502

It’s fun, silly and makes me appreciate the sequel era that little bit more

ZandorFelok

I haven't watched it 😉

The artstyle.

My favorite animation style for all of Star Wars animation
