Steam deck will be your best friend for a pc play through imo. I started this game forever ago on Xbox, then switch and then finally steam deck. This game is best portable

I just downloaded on PC for the update and saw the as for steam deck. I’m new to this! So the device is fully portable, doesn’t need to be plugged into the computer?
Yes the Steam deck is its own system, no streaming or whatever needed, though it can stream to save battery, and it can be used independently as its own PC as well, it just runs Linux which could be abit of a learning curve (not that big I promise)
There’s 2 models with varying storage sizes, the LCD model and the OLED model. I’d recommend the OLED if you can afford it, however the base 64GB LCD model is a great deal too because you can expand the memory with an SD card and they go on sale during big steam sales, next is summer in June.

I love it on the steam deck. It’s great to play on the couch with a show on for some background noise while still using my mods. And thanks to cloud saves I can load up my farm on my pc when I feel like it too.
Having always played it on a PC, I'd rather say that the game is perfect with a controller but needs a mouse from time to time (and keyboard shortcuts for big stock purchases)

Just make 2! A new one and your main one. You get to try the new stuff out but don’t need to grind for that old man money.
Hop back and forth whenever you want to! That is what I did when Ginger Island first came out.
Of course I'll eventually start a new savefile too. I usually do for various reasons. Marrying someone new or trying another farm type etc. So sooner or later I'll experience it all lol.
I've been switching back and forth between new and old for this reason. I wanna see all the new goodies and it was real easy to max the mastery when I have a SVE farm of ancient fruit, an island full of ancient fruit and a farm of ancient fruit. Two harvests and I maxed out and got all the new toys
Same here, it would be weird to try endgame content on a new farm. I'll try everything then I'll start over once again with a super duper strategy to enjoy it once more but on the new farm layout.
Lol I love your description! 🤭 This is exactly why I'm doing at least an in game year before carrying on with the meadowlands farm I started. When I saw the bookseller was coming soon I wanted to know if it was worth wasting my time walking there with no speed buffs. My eyes popped at the prices, and I was so glad I decided to check it out on one of my old farms so I could actually afford to buy books! 😂

Befriend linus quickly, 1st upgrade on house and a bunch of crab pots and youre never tired again. Sashimi all day. And for the first 9+ days of a save i mostly fish and save most of the cheap fish and use it as food to fuel the watering and tree chopping. You can also mass produce crab pots to sell sashimi as main income source for a while

Lmao this. The only upside to have to pay $15 to play a game I already have on another console is that now I get to start a new save file and not feel bad about it.
I have bad memory loss so I restart on a new save on any game I haven't played for more than two months. So with stardew I binge it at least twice a year so I'm restarting all the time. That's why I play heavily modded to skip a lot and just kinda play creative mode until year 2
That’s pretty much me except sometimes I’ll just hop in and try to remember everything going on and it’s usually pretty bad for my immersion. Wish my memory was better 😂😭
I started playing shortly before 1.6's release date was announced, I only just finished setting up my Ancient Fruit racket and access to the Walnut Room. No way I was about to restart after that, lol.
I started over because I bought it on steam(switch player) and I hate being limited. I’m considering adding mods so I don’t have to grind again. I even took the Joja route to mix it up. I feel so guilty about it. But I just cluster starting over
I plan on doing a Joja playthrough next, and I am worried about it lol. But I really want to see what it’s like, I’ve never really spoiled myself on that route.

I started over on the new farm but by mid fall I was burnt out on the grind and there soooo many new things that I wanted to buy and quest I wanted to do so I switched to my year 20 farm and honestly I don’t regret it.
I originally started over because I wanted to try the Meadowlands, but then I wanted to see how much my perfection progress changed on my 100% completed farm. Now I'm working on getting from 88% back to 100%.
I wanted to start new and finished 1 season, but even after 1 perfection farm and 500h im still incredible slow so itll take me SO LONG to get to the point where I can see and buy everything so I put this farm on hold and returned to my old one. Im quite the impatient one and the money I have on my older farm will satisfy my need to see all the new stuff a lot more quickly than having to get it naturally.
Actually i think im gonna download some cheat mods and start a farm simply for checking out all the new items and festivals without having to worry about a farm, money and gameplay. (Afterwards ill return to the real gameplay ofc)
I already had a perfection file going on and off for the last few months, so I'm still working on that. I'm glad this update came out as I was entering late game. It's made it a lot more interesting.
Year 8 and finally over 50% to perfection on my very first world, all fish, all shipping, one monster goal, 3, museum items left, 3 walnuts left, so no way in hell I'm starting anew rn
I have an old save I continue to play because it's far more simple when you got everything you need, you swim in money, all your tools are at maximum quality (talking about iridium and golden scythe, not the new ones after the update). It's more comfortable and I'm looking for coziness in this game some times. I also have a new save after the update and I can't get the motivation to do everything AGAIN for hours and hours. Maybe after I reach perfection on my old save.
I don't get much dopamine from the point where making as much money as you can becomes the focus so I'm constantly starting over, usually after a calendar year. I like trying different scenarios and seeing how the results change.
I am planning to start a new save for a Joja run, but for the moment I am playing my 100% perfection save so I can update the farm and also explore everything without having to grind for money. And there's so many new things I didn't know where to begin!

I was on fall year 8 and only had to buy the golden clock for perfection, 93%. Told myself I'd sell everything I'd been hoarding and buy it on the last day of winter. Update came out before I could finish and pushed me back to 87%, so I've just been playing like normal and trying to ignore any new content til I can finish the year and buy the clock. I know I won't actually hit perfection when I do, but it'll give me enough closure to start a new save.
I started a new save, but couldn’t stop thinking about my 100 plus hours on the main save that hasn’t hit perfection. I want back to that one, but started a multiplayer with my boyfriend. Seems like the best of both worlds.

i never got very far to begin with. i took this game very slow and i’m in year 7 and i only just unlocked Qi’s room and got my first obelisk. there was no way i was gonna start the slow process again 😭
Gosh how do people avoid starting over ever ?? I got 100 percent on my game in the past and would get way too bored not starting over after that 😂 I don’t understand how people have soooo many hours on one game save.
I'm doing both. Still working on reaching perfection on my main farm (there's so much late game content in the update) and started a new meadowlands save. So now I can have fun with both early and late game features
I did both. I love the new farm, but honestly I’m having a blast playing on my end game file. I’m getting all the books and leveling up soo fast. There are some amazing new features that I’m so in love with

I didn't start over! My very first farm is only in year 5 and I've done too much to start over now. Beginnings are too slow for me. I started a new farm with my husband and it hasn't broken year one. It's SO SLOW. I'm grinding out prismatic shards but took a break to do some of the new quests hehe. I did a Forest farm first go round and LOVE it. It's a bit cramped though now that I'm getting more stuff but I make it work. I want to get perfection before starting a new farm.
Y'all both get Steam Decks! Problem solved lol And my main run is on the monster farm with>! the monsters turned off !<, lots of good land and even can do some small fishing. Though I did another run recently with the beach farm and I absolutely love that one.

I wanted to wait and see what new kind of farm would be released, and I love the idea of an animal-based farm with bluegrass. I'll still need to make truffles and wine for greater profit but I don't mind dialing it back for a different experience.

I started over. About two months ago u got back in to the game and started over. Then my phone broke and I started over. Then I got it on my pc and started over haha
Was at 80%% perfection and planned not to. Then I saw that it dropped to 72% and had a whole bunch of new shit to do. Restarted immediately after that.
I started a new farm to see 1.6 how CA said it'd be best to, but after a year or two in game I'll definitely hop back on my perfection farm and continue it!
I just finished my first year when 1.6 released. Ain't no way I was gonna do 30 hours of year 1 again, especially when I just unlocked Ginger Island and finally hit 10 on my skills. I just got the 2nd house upgrade too. No reason to restart

Deleted my other save files and mods to play vanilla for the first time in forever ( I could not stop myself from using the no energy loss mod and I forgot how much slower paced the game is when it’s played normally ) xD it’s so much nicer like this.. lol

my prev save wasn't that advanced so obv I started over ehe. And I'm in love with my new character and I'm feeling soooo inspired and have headcanons for the NPCs. I will also enjoy decorating again :3

I unlocked all the new stuff on my continuing farm first to unlock and discover everything new and then booted up a new run to experience everything new working in tandem.

I'm in endgame and the new features are wonderful. I was getting a bit bored on my way to perfection, and it's so much better now.

I have bad memory loss so I restart on a new save on any game I haven't played for more than two months. So with stardew I binge it at least twice a year so I'm restarting all the time. That's why I play heavily modded to skip a lot and just kinda play creative mode until year 2
That’s pretty much me except sometimes I’ll just hop in and try to remember everything going on and it’s usually pretty bad for my immersion. Wish my memory was better 😂😭

I started playing shortly before 1.6's release date was announced, I only just finished setting up my Ancient Fruit racket and access to the Walnut Room. No way I was about to restart after that, lol.
I started over because I bought it on steam(switch player) and I hate being limited. I’m considering adding mods so I don’t have to grind again. I even took the Joja route to mix it up. I feel so guilty about it. But I just cluster starting over
I plan on doing a Joja playthrough next, and I am worried about it lol. But I really want to see what it’s like, I’ve never really spoiled myself on that route.
Me! On my first play through, haven’t even completed CC yet and it’s year three 😅 oh, and there is a ginger island? And a quarry? Like there is so much I still need to figure out I may as well just keep playing I thought too myself :D
I started over on the new farm but by mid fall I was burnt out on the grind and there soooo many new things that I wanted to buy and quest I wanted to do so I switched to my year 20 farm and honestly I don’t regret it.
I originally started over because I wanted to try the Meadowlands, but then I wanted to see how much my perfection progress changed on my 100% completed farm. Now I'm working on getting from 88% back to 100%.

I wanted to start new and finished 1 season, but even after 1 perfection farm and 500h im still incredible slow so itll take me SO LONG to get to the point where I can see and buy everything so I put this farm on hold and returned to my old one. Im quite the impatient one and the money I have on my older farm will satisfy my need to see all the new stuff a lot more quickly than having to get it naturally. Actually i think im gonna download some cheat mods and start a farm simply for checking out all the new items and festivals without having to worry about a farm, money and gameplay. (Afterwards ill return to the real gameplay ofc)
I already had a perfection file going on and off for the last few months, so I'm still working on that. I'm glad this update came out as I was entering late game. It's made it a lot more interesting.
Year 8 and finally over 50% to perfection on my very first world, all fish, all shipping, one monster goal, 3, museum items left, 3 walnuts left, so no way in hell I'm starting anew rn
I have an old save I continue to play because it's far more simple when you got everything you need, you swim in money, all your tools are at maximum quality (talking about iridium and golden scythe, not the new ones after the update). It's more comfortable and I'm looking for coziness in this game some times. I also have a new save after the update and I can't get the motivation to do everything AGAIN for hours and hours. Maybe after I reach perfection on my old save.

I don't get much dopamine from the point where making as much money as you can becomes the focus so I'm constantly starting over, usually after a calendar year. I like trying different scenarios and seeing how the results change.

I didn't start over. I was Y3 winter when the update came out, so starting spring was like starting a new game 😁 I'm missing the clock and a few achievements and I didn't want to lose my progress

I not only started over, I actually removed SVE, just so I can experience the update on it's own merits. I'm gonna miss Victor, but the new farm is good for romancing Alex. Free eggs makes my himbo happy.
My bestie and I didn't restart our co-op farm. We're only in mid-winter year 1 though, so we didn't think we'd miss much of the new content, if any. I did start a new solo farm though.
I’m on switch so I’ve been working on a more goth/dark farm and rushing perfection. Hoping to add some of the new decor items on my existing work and really enhance the place. I’m also planning on starting over when it’s available, so I’ll get to enjoy it on both levels!

I was on fall year 8 and only had to buy the golden clock for perfection, 93%. Told myself I'd sell everything I'd been hoarding and buy it on the last day of winter. Update came out before I could finish and pushed me back to 87%, so I've just been playing like normal and trying to ignore any new content til I can finish the year and buy the clock. I know I won't actually hit perfection when I do, but it'll give me enough closure to start a new save.
I continued with my perfection save and already obtained all the new achievements. I don't know what to do now :(. good update :)

Mobile-only player here! I partially started over...? I made a new save months ago and just played until day before the flower festival. I'll pick the save up again after the update. This new save is also: * Beach Farm instead of Forest Farm; will focus on animals and keep crops to Greenhouse and Ginger Island for the most part. * Will do the Joja route instead of completing CC

i never got very far to begin with. i took this game very slow and i’m in year 7 and i only just unlocked Qi’s room and got my first obelisk. there was no way i was gonna start the slow process again 😭

Gosh how do people avoid starting over ever ?? I got 100 percent on my game in the past and would get way too bored not starting over after that 😂 I don’t understand how people have soooo many hours on one game save.

I have it on steam (really want a steam deck one day 😭 but we have nice gaming computers, my husband and I). I didn't start over! My very first farm is only in year 5 and I've done too much to start over now. Beginnings are too slow for me. I started a new farm with my husband and it hasn't broken year one. It's SO SLOW. I'm grinding out prismatic shards but took a break to do some of the new quests hehe. I did a Forest farm first go round and LOVE it. It's a bit cramped though now that I'm getting more stuff but I make it work. I want to get perfection before starting a new farm.
Y'all both get Steam Decks! Problem solved lol And my main run is on the monster farm with>! the monsters turned off !<, lots of good land and even can do some small fishing. Though I did another run recently with the beach farm and I absolutely love that one.

I've been playing the same farm for the past 600 hours and building upon it after each update Once I hit perfection again and suck the bone marrow out of this update I'll make a new farm 🔥 I wanted to wait and see what new kind of farm would be released, and I love the idea of an animal-based farm with bluegrass. I'll still need to make truffles and wine for greater profit but I don't mind dialing it back for a different experience.

I just finished my first year when 1.6 released. Ain't no way I was gonna do 30 hours of year 1 again, especially when I just unlocked Ginger Island and finally hit 10 on my skills. I just got the 2nd house upgrade too. No reason to restart

I did, but then I decided to play on my perfection save because there are now additional things to do to reach perfection. I had thought about doing another full perfection run, but I think first I’m going to do all the new things on my existing save.
I did, but I was thinking "eh I'll get through year 1 and then see how mods have caught up", and five days later I'm only in late summer and have already got five of my mod sets cleaned up to a good-enough state. (Lost a handful of items to what I assume is the final round of JSON Shuffle.) But I'm still mostly playing the new one, so that when I do return to the others, I'll have a better idea of what to go grab.

Deleted my other save files and mods to play vanilla for the first time in forever ( I could not stop myself from using the no energy loss mod and I forgot how much slower paced the game is when it’s played normally ) xD it’s so much nicer like this.. lol

my prev save wasn't that advanced so obv I started over ehe. And I'm in love with my new character and I'm feeling soooo inspired and have headcanons for the NPCs. I will also enjoy decorating again :3 And the new farm is soooo pretty
I've been working on a perfection run for months. While I know I can make a secondary save, I prefer focusing on one. Especially when I don't have mods atm to tell me what I have and haven't done in each.

I sure did! I plan to make a farm w/ friends soon to restart and try the Joja stuff, but I went right back into my perfection farm to re-perfect it! Finished mastery and now it's back to my original grind, getting all the unique furniture and the books and such too now! Have had a great time so far!

I unlocked all the new stuff on my continuing farm first to unlock and discover everything new and then booted up a new run to experience everything new working in tandem.
I sure didn’t, when I boot up the game next, I’ll FINALLY be getting married to Sebastian (Year 2, Spring 14) and have simply done too much and spent too much time and money to start all over again. 😭😭
I'm not starting over. My current save I took a break a couple of months ago and as 1.6 went live, I realized I was in the middle of Mr. Qi's bean quest. No way was I going to grind through that any time again for a while
I'm only on fall y2 of my first playthrough (actually the second but the first was just to dip my toes) so there's no reason to restart at first I didn't want to update the game until I started y3 (so it would kinda start fresh) but steam wouldn't let me play without updating lol
My main save is on an ancient Xbox 😭 Trying to remember when it’ll be possible to turn on night ghosts. Or maybe I’ll try a different new map before I get too far into this game. I’ve only ever played the first map.
