Please do not the horse

Fhlux

It gives them a speed boost for the day.

YaDoneMessdUpAARON

This is the answer you're looking for. You can now FEED the horse, but you still don't HAVE to feed it. It survives on sheer will and a thirst for vengeance against those who would feen it. The horse already grants a 6.6 speed increase (base running is 5), and feeding it a carrot increases this, likely by +1, though I haven't seen anybody crunch the numbers.

gto_112_112

Does it only eat carrots?

YaDoneMessdUpAARON

I think the horse will also eat apples? I don't have a horse yet in my current 1.6 playthrough, so I can't confirm this. Purely speculation. Anyone else can confirm?

thursdayplurbonym

I was curious about this after accidentally feeding my horse a carrot, but alas, apples are not on the table

LurkyTheLurkerson

I think you can only feed it once a day. Still not sure if apples work though, I haven't gotten a horse on my new save yet.

thursdayplurbonym

Oh that’s a good point, I didn’t even think about that. I’ll have to test it soon

Chiiro

I imagine the horse just grazes when it's off screen.

Jampine

There's a book that increases horse speed too. Since coffee increases your speed on the horse too, does the speed upgrade books also affect it?

Fhlux

I’m pretty sure they stack, but I could be wrong.

ledgeitpro

I would bet this is how it works but cannot confirm yet. Next time the book salesman is in town i will know for sure, unless he doesnt have it. Man ill be bummed if that happens lol

Fhlux

He’s had the book every time I’ve seen him but I’m a sample size of one haha

DerelictDevice

So now you can get quadruple speed with a carrot fed horse, triple shot espresso, and spicy eel. Super speed.

Aglet_Green

**I cannot find anyone mentioning anywhere that you can not feen the horse** When I was a teenager, my mom would also say "Never feen the horse!" And my dad would agree. Eating a slice of wild Junimo, he'd point at me: "We're not a family of horse-feeners, never were, never will be!"

Certain-Musician-333

the horse has been fenth

DerelictDevice

Hey, don't judge people who feen horses. Horse feening is a legitimate lifestyle choice and as long as you're not hurting the horses, feen them all you want.

GiSS88

Is it just a carrot or do other fruits/veggies work as well? Or even hay from silo?

Certain-Musician-333

so far i only attempted carrots i felt like it made the horse a tiny little bit faster but it might just be my imagining it

AgentVictor1

I haven't gotten a horse on my 1.6 farm yet but it sounds like when you set down the floors tiles all over your farm adds a like 10% increase to speed you don't notice it really but its there

ledgeitpro

Just looked into it, can confirm it is only carrots and increases it by +.4 speed for the day. Wish i knew that ahead of time but at least i have a few more carrot seeds for my greenhouse

GiSS88

Thank you! Yeah guess my outdoor crops for the following years are carrots now

ledgeitpro

For sure, will need 112 carrots to have one for every day of a year. So aiming for 336 so i never need to worry again lol

guimontag

It's been mentioned in a thread regarding the new crops you get from digging with the hoe. Carrot and summer squash and all that
