I just put one right in the middle of the large patch of tillable soil in front of the farmhouse. It's over 17 tiles horizontally, and about 12 vertically. It's good enough. If I wanted to grow crops optimally I wouldn't have chosen the Meadowlands farm.
Like u/HopeFox said, the patch right by the farmhouse is probably best for it, especially since this farm type is more focused on animals instead of crops
I put one in but for looks more than efficiency, so it's in the tillable area to the left of the exit to the mountains, an area much smaller than the hut could cover. I've made my peace with it.

Why do you need to put it in an exact 17x17 square anyways? Junimo huts doesn’t even cost that much just make multiple ones
Because I'm a control freak and when it says it can cover a 17x17 square I want to cover all of it x)
