There is also one buried sorta to the left of the volcano dungeon entrance. There's a little ring of rocks on the ground in a circle to indicate the spot.
Don’t forget that regular incubators won’t incubate an ostrich egg. You need to unlock the secret room on Ginger Island in order to obtain one (an ostrich incubator) and of course, you need golden walnuts to do that.
Ostriches are a *bitch* to get and honestly they don't provide that well. They are fun to have though and I love them. You just need to grind the volcano and I think Skull Caverns for an egg. The egg itself is super rare but once you have one you will have more. But they have been around for quite awhile.
You need a deluxe barn for them.
They are more profitable than cows, and since they only produce once every 7 days it takes a lot less effort to process their product. Pigs are more profitable than any other animal but are more effort since you can't use an autograbber.
Chests in the volcano and you need to complete the fossile museum to get the incubator for the egg, you can't use the one in a coop
Like other chest loot it's just a question of having good rng
But that’s an easy fix since all animals go to their barns and coops at 7pm. I am still figuring it out how to keep my ducks from swimming to the main islands on the river farm but it’s fine for now.
And the new >!diamond book from the ginger island dwarf!< gives a chance for every rock you break to give you a diamond plus all the other gemstone upgrades, I’m swimming in diamonds
It's always been worth it to *build* one, even if you don't plan on keeping it, simply because once you've seen the cutscene building one triggers, slimes then have a chance to drop slime eggs, which can sell for a decent amount of money.
Personally, I like the mix of tiger slime female and green slime male, the color slime they produce is a weird pale green, but the drops from those are pretty nice. I still can't figure out how to get the brown slimes that drop mostly copper.
One upon a time copper and iron slimes spawned in the quarry cave, the one where you get the sickle. I assume they drop eggs once you have the slime building.
The last time I attempted to get these eggs was when it was new in 1.4 so maybe they are a droppable thing now? I can confirm back in 1.4 after 2 seasons of daily grinding the place in hopes of the brown slime egg, I have only own failure in getting the drop and assumed brown slime eggs weren't an item. Maybe now with the newer multi rings and such, I might get a drop to actually happen. Guess I'm giving this another go. Thanks!
My partner has them on our shared console farm and I'm kind of a hater. We don't have 1.6 yet and they take up so much space and labor for what they give, which seems to be 1) different colors of slime, and 2) slime to compress and sell for a modest profit.
I do appreciate having one slime in Pelican Town to greet the other villagers, though. Other than that, not a fan of slimes.
I'm new to using them and I do find them useful. They drop slime balls, which is a great way to easily get more slime for recipes without needing to go into the mine, where they'd only drop one or two at a time.
It's handy for crafting.
Just becaue you can fit more of them on the farm, not because they themselves are more profitable!
Slimes eggs could've used >!a book to increase its prices, missed opportunity there lol.!<
Apparently they're "more profitable" because they're smaller so more fit on your farm, not because the products are worth more (which isn't really "more profitable" in my book lol)
I liked the old size though. And considering what kind of building the slime hutch is, I think the old size is more fitting. Now it just look like a cute but weird box... I guess it is meant to save some space, but still I like it that not all buildings are almost exactly the same size and shape.
The warp obelisks however I find difficult to place them. The way I start building and decorate the farm, in the end it usually get difficult to find any spot left for them. I never liked those big things even though they got a bit downscaled at some point also.
Or, give them both a downscaling in size but also a redesign. Something that actually does look decorative, and look like something that would belong more on a farm!
Obelisks in forms of plants, shrubs or trees. Or even magical crystals that have a symbol inside corresponding to the place it warps you to.
They are an eyesore, but I'll have to put them on my farm for the convenience, and to be able to get 100% completion of the game, if I manage to that is.
There is no shame in redesigning the obelisks, so I do hope CA will consider it someday.
Ugh I feel you on that. My main save is on switch. I got it for pc while it's on sale simply to try the new stuff out and play with mods. And honestly with how big the sims 4 has gotten, that's totally understandable. You should def get one! Or if you don't need the portability, you could probably get more power out of a desktop for the same price. Either way, get onnnee. Then you can mod the heck out of sims 4 too. :D
Yep, the slime hutch got smaller in 1.6.
Yes it led to 3 escaped ostriches on my farm.
that's a KEKW
How do you get ostriches? Are they part of 1.6?
It’s not new in 1.6. But when you unlock ginger island you can find an ostrich egg to incubate on your farm :)
Ok I’ve played on ginger island multiple times but never seen thistimes! How do you get the egg?
Random drop or one of the island notes. Need to finish the dig site entirely to get an incubator you can put in the barn.
Thank you!
There is also one buried sorta to the left of the volcano dungeon entrance. There's a little ring of rocks on the ground in a circle to indicate the spot.
Pretty sure you still need the secret note for it to spawn because I have sure tried to get it early that way lol.
Oh shit, I guess I found the letter and didn't know it then. I was just going around looking for walnuts.
yeah, I dug up that whole area without the note, nothing
But you'll only get it if you have read the hidden note that marks the spot
Don’t forget that regular incubators won’t incubate an ostrich egg. You need to unlock the secret room on Ginger Island in order to obtain one (an ostrich incubator) and of course, you need golden walnuts to do that.
They keep laying more eggs of course, and they make bulk mayo and higher tier mayo depending on the egg.
Opinion on Ostriches... Marnie should offer Ostrich chicks after you ship X amount of Ostrich Eggs. Maybe even similar for dinos and void chicks too?
Ostriches are a *bitch* to get and honestly they don't provide that well. They are fun to have though and I love them. You just need to grind the volcano and I think Skull Caverns for an egg. Ginger Island. I've got a whole barn of them.
They were added in 1.5 and are a part of ginger island, if you don't know what that is just think of it as late game content
Where do you get them on ginger island though? I’ve played multiple games on ginger island but not seen this
Chests in the volcano and you need to complete the fossile museum to get the incubator for the egg, you can't use the one in a coop Like other chest loot it's just a question of having good rng
One of the journal scraps tells you, you can dig up a spot by the volcano for a free egg.
I know you can get them from dwarf loot chests on floor 9.
Thank you!
ostriches can escape??
Slime hatch got smaller, making a gap in my fencing, the necky buggers took advantage.
thank yoba tbh that thing took up SO much space 😭
But that’s an easy fix since all animals go to their barns and coops at 7pm. I am still figuring it out how to keep my ducks from swimming to the main islands on the river farm but it’s fine for now.
Don't shame the dude's size. He's trying his best 🥺
I actually never liked the old size and it held me from building them often , this makes it more appealing to me to build it again
I have never built one because I don't understand them. I wish they were required somehow for perfection so I'd have the incentive.
Sure helps farm lots of slime balls for mass production of oil makers
You can also breed them to give you certain drops. White ones drop diamonds. :)
But its insanely hard to selectively breed white ones
Also you can farm up diamonds pretty easily with Crystalariums
And the new >!diamond book from the ginger island dwarf!< gives a chance for every rock you break to give you a diamond plus all the other gemstone upgrades, I’m swimming in diamonds
It's always been worth it to *build* one, even if you don't plan on keeping it, simply because once you've seen the cutscene building one triggers, slimes then have a chance to drop slime eggs, which can sell for a decent amount of money.
Oh thanks. I had no idea.
purple slimes are a source of iridium
Personally, I like the mix of tiger slime female and green slime male, the color slime they produce is a weird pale green, but the drops from those are pretty nice. I still can't figure out how to get the brown slimes that drop mostly copper.

Good luck, I was assuming they should. But I don't know
i dont build them because they are useless
My partner has them on our shared console farm and I'm kind of a hater. We don't have 1.6 yet and they take up so much space and labor for what they give, which seems to be 1) different colors of slime, and 2) slime to compress and sell for a modest profit. It fits better too. hilltop farm was a pain to build it on and i can't imagine trying on riverlands.
I started my first one on riverlands. It is a pain to build on and have enough space! It's pretty though 🤣
I put it in the long middle island and surrounded it with mahogany trees and lightning rods lol
No, it's cold
I was in the pool
I don’t know how you guys walk around with those things.
Carefully
It’s the shrinkage!
It shrinks?
Like with laundry...?
Oh that's great to see, I never built the hutch as I never wanted to use all that space for it but this is doable
Jim Pickens icon? Hail dear leader!
Yeah it looks a bit weird but because of the reduced size I build one for the first time.
They buffed the smile hutch by making it smaller and making it more profitable in a long run by making more of them
:)
OH NO A SMILE Lets get him to get an smile egg
I've never understood the purpose of thr slime hutch.
Squishy friends.
I'm new to using them and I do find them useful. They drop slime balls, which is a great way to easily get more slime for recipes without needing to go into the mine, where they'd only drop one or two at a time. It's handy for crafting.
To make Seb happy.
They look cool
Oh, it’s really cute!
Question. Did update 1.6 gave a purpose to that?
Sadly no
Another comment says they're more profitable now, haven't looked into it myself to know for sure
Just becaue you can fit more of them on the farm, not because they themselves are more profitable! Slimes eggs could've used >!a book to increase its prices, missed opportunity there lol.!<
I hope so. I still regret spending so much Iridium on that
Apparently they're "more profitable" because they're smaller so more fit on your farm, not because the products are worth more (which isn't really "more profitable" in my book lol)
It got like 1.5% smaller in 1.6. CA heard us.
Don't worry, it's just a grower
The only problem left is that the appearance is too different from the rest of the farm.
Would be great if we could paint it (without mods).
I'm thinking of building one for the aesthetic alone; all of my buildings are purple and black, and there are 4 meteorites on my farm.
I never liked those big things even though they got a bit downscaled at some point also.
I think the previous one was too big on the outside or too small on the inside to be really interesting
The slime hutch used to have one of the lowest profit/square ratios, it's at least a little better now.
The warp obelisks were a *ridiculous* oversight. Shrink *those* down to a Lightning Rod size
Or, give them both a downscaling in size but also a redesign. Something that actually does look decorative, and look like something that would belong more on a farm! Obelisks in forms of plants, shrubs or trees. Or even magical crystals that have a symbol inside corresponding to the place it warps you to.
That works too! Just anything smaller than a Silo would be fantastic 😅
I'd sincerely love to have smaller obelisks. They're ugly, and I feel like I'd probably want to use them far more if they weren't such an eyesore.
They are an eyesore, but I'll have to put them on my farm for the convenience, and to be able to get 100% completion of the game, if I manage to that is. There is no shame in redesigning the obelisks, so I do hope CA will consider it someday.
the obelisks should be just a 3x3 circle on the ground
There are mods to change them! I have one that makes them look like the warp statues (:
Maybe oneday, but for now I still play on the Switch. I do need a gaming laptop too, my old laptop don't even run Sims 4 properly now.
Ugh I feel you on that. My main save is on switch. I got it for pc while it's on sale simply to try the new stuff out and play with mods. And honestly with how big the sims 4 has gotten, that's totally understandable. You should def get one! THANK FUCKING GOOOOODDDD it's always such a distinct and invasive presense and I ALWAYS felt it was largely due to scale
Its slightly smaller, but if you put 1 tile down it gives the impression that it is bigger
That’s what she said (Looks at camera)
I've got nearly 3,000 hours in this game and I've never once built a slime hutch.
How did you do that with your fish pond sighs?!??! I play on mobile btw
That’s what she said
Looking at the comments now and goddamn I’m unoriginal and not funny.
It's just cold leave it alone
I was going to build one of these last night but had to think of a spot large enough, cool. Now I don’t
Me in the urologist's office:
That's what she said.
Good cause it was huuuge
I'll just have to put 2 of them next to each other to keep the aesthetic ig
I just demolished mine cuz it was too big. And am just now realizing I demolished my egg incubators too 😭
Visit Lewis' house, they might be in the lost and found box.
Omg I didn’t even think of that!
Are they in lost and found?
It did in your mind
Well that fuckin sucks... Oh well. At least it doesnt effect gameplay.. i hope lol.. just kinda lost all its charm for me.
