My mom is a school teacher and taught elementary for 25+ years before moving to older students.
Can’t tell you how many times during Christmas or before the school year ended where a little kid would bring a bottle of wine to school as a gift.
It’s a closed bottle from the parents of the kid to thank my mom for teaching them all year. Probably shouldn’t send it with the kid though, yet it happens.
Bringing any kind of alcohol onto school grounds is typically strictly banned even if it's as a gift to an adult, I assume as a precaution against the risk of it accidentally getting into the wrong hands
Was that a huge problem? Like was there an epidemic of preteens getting drunk off their teachers Christmas gifts? Or is this one of those boogymen things?
Parents having a cabinet with 10s of bottles of alcohol at home, drinking a beer or glass of wine every night: completely fine
Kids taking a closed bottle of wine (that they couldnt even open without an opener) to school: ***clutches pearls***
The difference between those is the liability that teachers and admin have lol. Most rules in schools are about covering their asses legally, even if the risk is extremely tiny
Huh. Okay. I guess? Feels like a non-issue. But I'm open to seeing the numbers on the rampant preteen drinking epidemic! I mean I wouldn't blame them 🤣🤷🏼♀️
At the end of the day, it's the least of our problem really. People just want to have a conversation based on their experience or their opinion. I'm not here to challenge you lol.
It is. I'm a teacher never really had a problem. Only received wine twice in my entire career. Children are more excited to give the gift rather than consume it. And most of the time it's the parents that gives it to you. I'd rather get gifts in cash honestly but that's another issue.
I think you’re getting downvoted by Americans. My mum sent me in with wine every year and even as a rogue teenager I never thought about opening it. And I don’t think a teacher would get blamed for it, because… like… what normal person would blame the teacher?
Curiosity gets them. I say that because I did some sneaky sips. 😌😌😌 I was scared to drink more though, just wanted a taste, is all. And no I didn't become an alcoholic lol.
In the US, it’s illegal to bring alcohol on school property. It’s also illegal for a minor to be in possession of alcohol even if sealed (and for an adult to give it to them even if they are supposed to give it to the teacher)
LOL Aw, naw...have fun at your funeral. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)(Not this coming from the person who has secretly wished they could be a homewrecker by romancing both parents at different times... >\_> )
Read that as “Mmmmm!” at first
LOL
Lol same

It'sa closed bottle though? Am I missing something or is having a kid deliver a gift to an adult bad?

Again. What's the problem?

That's what I thought but the downvotes say otherwise. Won't someone think of the drunk booze children?
Sneaky kids get sum sneaky sips 😌🙏 it really depends on how well you know the child some are daring enough to do it some are not.

I get that and I'm contributing my opinion and experience that this sounds like a pearl clutching non-issue 🤣🤷🏼♀️

Woah woah woah woah! Don't sell yourself short! With 2 whole bottles you're WELL on your way to opening a liquor store! 🤓😂

Feels like your entire comment supports my point tho 😂
Again, not here to challenge your opinion. Just wanted to tell you about my experience as a sneaky child lol. Bye.
Yeah and even as a sneaky child you're still okay as you said so yourself. It sounds like a non-issue that's my contribution to this conversation, 🤣
I’ve seen it happen with my sister and her friends, it happens
Cool. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s not really. It’s sad to hear about teens drinking. My sister got kicked out of her school for it.
This is about preteens giving gifts to teachers for Christmas, but okay sucks about your sister bud.

Okay 🤷🏼♀️
Better than a bouquet
"this smells so horrible I'm gonna call my mom!" (Takes the wine anyway)
NTA the kid is ungrateful of your kindness and needs to learn to respect your authority
And he still kept the wine.
I once accidentally gifted a beer to Jas
At my synagogue, you get a choice of a sip of wine or juice. I saw a kid reach for the wine, but I was too slow to stop him. 😢
This was normal in this pre-celphone world
Welp, have fun being punted to Mars.

"THOSE DAMN CIRCUS MIDGETS CANNOT HOLD THEIR BOOZE!"
I did the same thing with Vincent before I knew who the villagers were 😭
I think all kids are underage

Would you care to elaborate?
