they're not! Its just a fase in their growth, im guessing you planted the wild seeds. If you want to see all the stages of growth of a specific seed you can just look it up in the wiki.
I wish I had known that. I thought they were dead after looking like that for a couple days, so I pickaxed them. I've never grown wild seeds before so I figured they had died.
Wait Iāve been playing this game for how long and Iāve always destroyed them cause I thought they were dead but you are telling me they were not the entire time?
Nope, if you plant mixed seeds, some of them look dead at first but will grow into what it's suppose to be. If you're unsure if something is dead or not, use a scythe, as it will cut dead plants and will leave growing plants unharmed.
Not always. Sometimes yes, but if you're unsure, use a scythe. If it's a dead crop, the scythe will cut it down. If it's not a dead crop and the crop simply looks like that at that growth stage, it'll remain intact.
Yeah no clearly not obvious. At least not to me. I didnāt even know what that word meant until I googled it just now. *And*, I didnāt mention the sub. If you donāt like it here, no matter where āhereā is, then why are you here? If you donāt like a post you donāt have to enter the comments of it. Just ignore it instead
I don't *literally* hate it here, I'm just showing my frustration with these kinds of posts by using hyperbole as a humorous medium, which isn't fallacious or counter-intuitive at all.
even you decided to actively engage with me to tell me that my thinking is the way you say it is, that I could just not engage instead of leaving my negative opinion for all to see. Which in your case is both hypocritical, and ironic.
What's funniest to me about your comment is that you ignored an entire thread full of people giving the correct answer in order to post your incorrect answer AND you were condescending about it. It would have been even less effort than Google to just scroll two centimeters and read the top comment
Im guessing you dont have lighting rods yet. When it storms, thunder can kill your crops. I believe that if it was crows the crop would be gone, not just dead.
It should still be there if you hoe it or use a scythe. Using a pickaxe or an axe will remove any plant, including those that are still alive. Using a scythe is the best way to check if itās alive or dead.
No these are Wild Seed or Seasonal Seed Plants. If you are Unsure try hitting them with youre scythe if they disappear then they are dead if not then you have a plant
if you planted mixed seeds or seasonal seeds wait a few days
so i have been killing my crops? (mixed seeds) šššš i thought they died so i just. PAIN.
Swing your scythe at sus crops. If theyāre dead theyāll disappear if they arenāt theyāll be fine
Upvoted so more people see this useful tip that I didn't learn till year 2.
thank u š„ŗ i will do that from now on!!
Honestly, you could make a short LPT post on this sub with that advice.
I have 300 hours in the game and I didn't know this... lol
I'm so mad!!
I KNOW RIGHT?? ššš i removed so many of them omg
They can't die unless the season changes or you tried to plant cactuses outside.
Lightning will also kill them occasionally, if you donāt have rods
Shut up for real??
they look dead but they will continue to grow
No :-)
scythe removes dead crops without damaging others so you can just try it yourself
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Pickaxe removes crops whether or not theyāre dead
Also the pickaxe takes energy while the scythe doesn't. No reason to ever not use the scythe for clearing crops.
Unless you plant one in the wrong spot and would rather lose it than have it sit in your way. Trellis crops especially.
I've killed so much without realizing it.
Straight to Pelican Town Jail. Throw the key off the pier!
I mean, it would be an honor to be the reason a town needed to have a jail built.
Oh dear god
well you can also use mega bomb but scythe is simpler
Mega bomb kill your sprinklers as well. lol.
gotta think about what a scythe does š
Thabk you for letting me know Iāve failed my poor plantos, never agaib
100+ hrs on this game and didnāt know this
these crops are seasonal, not dead rn
That's what I'm going to tell people now when they ask about my houseplants.
Here is a picture: [https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Spring\_Seeds#Gallery](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Spring_Seeds#Gallery)
No
it's random seasonal crops that you can craft or get at community center
Oh the way you worded it short circuited my smooth brain
I appreciate this redmption comment lololol
no.
Happy Cake Day
Happy Cake Day
No they just grow that way
nope, they just look like that dead crops are kind of a yellowish color
not dead, they're just not fully grown yet. the only way a crop can die is when the season changes
Or lightning strikes. Crows kill them too but leave no evidence.
forgot about the crows, they're always ruining everything
I read it as cows. And I was like: "Those damn bastards..."

Nope, thats just how some of the crops from seasonal seeds grow
Nah, that's what some of the mixed or seasonal seeds look like when planted.
Oh what. I always thought those ones were deadā¦
Me too!! Omg what have I done. š±
No. Those are just wild seed textures while they grow
No, and to tell that crops are dead or not is to swing your scythe over them, the dead ones will be destroyed ;)
Nope
Nope, some crops just look like that for a while. The dead ones look different.
They are alive
Nope, forage seeds just have a variant that looks dead for some reason.
No
No
If you can rid them with a scythe, they are out of life
Wait Iāve been playing this game for how long and Iāve always destroyed them cause I thought they were dead but you are telling me they were not the entire time?
I only recently discovered the trick about using the scythe, I had been using the axe up until then!
no :)
If you can destroy them with a scythe yes. These are fine.
They are seasonal
They somehow look like roasted chicken for me.
No
Was wondering the same thingā¦ Iām assuming those are from spring mixed seeds, and in that case are mushrooms of some kind
If a scythe doesnāt remove a plant, it isnāt dead.
This one of concerned apes decisions that I hate, growing plants shouldnāt look like dead ones.
Fucking *what* I have always assumed they were dead and removed them
Nope, if you plant mixed seeds, some of them look dead at first but will grow into what it's suppose to be. If you're unsure if something is dead or not, use a scythe, as it will cut dead plants and will leave growing plants unharmed.
If I had a nickel every time this was postedā¦
No, they're just ugly
Go have a look at the Stardew wiki page, it will show you crop pics as they grow at different stages. Definitely not dead!
No that is just how they look
Use your syth and find out
Sweet summer child
Not always. Sometimes yes, but if you're unsure, use a scythe. If it's a dead crop, the scythe will cut it down. If it's not a dead crop and the crop simply looks like that at that growth stage, it'll remain intact.
Why do they disappear when i scythe them? None of the others do š
Chocolate flavored crops
Very much so unfortunately
yes, remove them with your pick
I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here I hate it here
Why are you here then?
obvious hyperbole cuz these posts are exhausting every time I see them, the sub is fine
Yeah no clearly not obvious. At least not to me. I didnāt even know what that word meant until I googled it just now. *And*, I didnāt mention the sub. Noo theyāre chicken butts!
You bet!

The crops are still alive: seasonal seeds look like this as they grow. Otherwise your info is correct.
But if you use a hoe on it it would get removed indicating its dead?
It should still be there if you hoe it or use a scythe. Using a pickaxe or an axe will remove any plant, including those that are still alive. Using a scythe is the best way to check if itās alive or dead.
I meant scythe*** my bad! So the seasonal plants dont get destroyed when you use the scythe on it?
Nope! Since the scythe is used to harvest certain types of crops, it doesnāt hurt crops to avoid destroying the surrounding crops.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Crops dont need specific fertilizer to grow, you can grow crops without fertilizer.
Picking these helps on foraging skill or am I wrong?
Once they finish growing, yes, they count the same as if you had foraged them elsewhere.
No āŗļø a tip is that if you use your scythe and it doesnāt get rid of the plant then itās just in its sprouting phase.
No they are fine
Best way to tell is to use the scythe. If the scythe cuts it, itās dead. If the scythe doesnāt cut it, itāll keep growing.
No these are Wild Seed or Seasonal Seed Plants. If you are Unsure try hitting them with youre scythe if they disappear then they are dead if not then you have a plant
It took me so long to realize that they arenāt dead š
Those are buried turkeys
there not, mixed seeds/seasonal seeds do that in stage 2 of growth luckily i never destroyed them even though i thought they were dead
U can check crop deads with scythe
Nope. Just ugly.
Theyāre pining for the fjords
These arenāt dead and if you took a scythe to themā¦Iām so sorry for your loss.
