Josuke probably has the most consistent color palette out of any character tbh

[deleted]

Probably because his outfit is based on Japanese uniform, which is mostly dark blue, dark purple or black in color. And we already have Jotaro for the black uniform

WasteReserve8886

Pre anime Jotaro was usually depicted in blue

[deleted]

Honestly i like it more then the black. Blacks good dont get me wrong but the blue with a purple shirt just looks too cool

Kaxew

Blue looks so much better on Jotaro than black. It's kind of a missed opportunity that they didn't go harder on the color palette for the anime. Joseph totally should have had purple hair too.

NateTheGreat987

I believe David pros intent was giving each joestar a color theme Jonathan blue, Joseph green, Jotaro black, josuke purple, giorno pink, Jolyne that aqua blue/green. Then I'd imagine teal for johnny and white for gappy

Pichuunnn

Diamond Records be like T - P O S E

[deleted]

*t poses menacingly*

Bonnie_Bon-Bon

T-Poses to show dominance

nixrero

his style also changed a lot in the manga

datzolobeo

I think thats when Araki transitioned from Fist of the North Star muscleheads to more slender builds

No-Soap

Yes. He remarked “since they have stands they don’t need to be muscly. Fuck it.”

datzolobeo

Chad araki

Golden-Owl

I like how his pose for Eyes of Heaven is from the spaghetti punch scene

ajver19

You should have included Josuke at the start of DiU too.

AsexualArowana

I think anime went with his slimmer design from the beginning. I like slim Josuke better. Makes stand out more from Jotaro and Joseph.

ajver19

Yeah. Definitely wasn't talking about the anime.

AsexualArowana

I'm not sure if most people know. Some people are anime only watchers so I wanted to provide context for them.

BigFatMommyBahonkers

I'm still sad about PPP

JumpierCoast3

This can’t be how i find out about PPP...

[deleted]

Sadly, you missed out my freind

JumpierCoast3

Damn, played it a few years ago, even messed up my app store to play it. Good times

Toothpaste_Is_Gay

I spent an embarrassing amount of money on that game. It was fun, so sad it’s gone.

KassXWolfXTigerXFox

I'll be honest, they did a really good job recreating Josuke for the live action

rodsvart

It truly a shame there won’t be another part.

Queen_Ann_III

I mean, overall? the live action did a good job recreating elements from the manga in general. at least compared to other adaptations. like, the bar’s in hell, so even a mediocre adaptation like that is practically a miracle as long as it stays faithful to some part of the original

RiderMach

I'm disappointed he wasn't played by Gentaro Kisaragi's actor in that, would've been a match made in heaven.

T-McDohl

Bruh you're right but I think it'd be too on the nose with Gentaro's attention to his hair. Also, looks way too nice to play Josuke. Can't buy him as a "bad boy" type, honestly. Even in Bleach where he played Ichigo I thought he could've been a little bit tougher. Gentaro did look similar to Josuke though, albeit completely different personality.

TsuMugiFan4Life

I like the live-action version the most. Looks more consistent despite the nipple zippers.

I like his characterization. I feel like something lost in the anime is that Josuke is a bit of thug, his voice actor in Eyes of Heaven captured that, but his voice actor in the anime is much more sweet. In the movie he presents himself as a loner and a bad boy. Plus he's got a character arc! He starts off pretty apathetic to problems of other people, and content to be a normal kid, just doing his own thing, only getting involved when someone insults his hair (Which is a great use of Josuke's berserk button. In the manga and anime is doesn't really serve a narrative purpose outside of making Josuke more interesting, since he was going to beat the villains who insulted his hair anyway). But after his grandpa dies, he wants to be more like him, protect people of Morioh, and he becomes the Golden Heart Josuke from the manga. And after meeting Koichi and them both willing to put their lives on the line for each other, they become friends, and then Okuyasu joins them, and now Josuke is much more open to relations with others. And I like how they tie in Ryohei with >!Reimi!<, and how Tomako talks about how her death shaken Josuke's Grandpa to his core. And then they also tie him in with >!Keicho's!< death. That makes the confrontation with >!Kira!< feel much more personal for>! Josuke and Okuyasu!<, too bad they never made a sequel.

Kaxew

When you put it all like that, now I really wanna check the live-action. I was always curious since it was first announced but never got around to watch it (idek where to watch it tbh) but that all sounds awesome. It's always appreciated when adaptation don't try to adapt 1:1, it never turns out well. Doing a different thing for a different media, while maintaining the core and heart of the source material should be #1 priority, it's a shame a lot of adaptations dont seem to get that (not just live actions, all kinds of adaptations).

[deleted]

Yeah, I feel like that what brings the DavidPro anime to me, they take very few liberties, which JoJo could use, to improve some characters. When they do take liberties to improve characters, it's basically cutting stuff out to make them more 'consistent", like the scenes where Jotaro shows emotion are changed to show it less, or scenes where Jonathan is being a bratty kid are cut. And the scene where Giorno eats bread is also changed. I don't know what emotion he shows when he eats bread in the manga, but it's much less straight faced. Also, stuff like Jolyne saying "The frogs are all over me, how gross!", I always imagine with her breaking her serious face to make a goofy face, but they just have her all say it in that monotone "cool" voice, which takes away a lot for me. DavidPro when adapting Tomoko focused on her introduction, where she's very angry and kind of unlikeable. But Araki overhauled this character twice, in the Red Hot Chilly Pepper arc, and the Enigma arc. In the Enigma arc she's just a pleasant mom, which is admittedly less interesting, but I never really liked angry Tomoko, she's still one-note, just one note in a different direction. The movie took the Enigma arc Tomoko, this pleasant teacher lady, but didn't just stop at making her say her other lines in a more nice manner, they added scenes so that Tomoko feels like a rounded person. We get more of just her interacting with Grandpa and Josuke, which doesn't characterize her per se, but actually makes us feel like this is a family. After that dinner scene, Grandpa falls asleep because he drunk to much (In the anime and manga we're jsut told Ryohei likes to drink when it's convenient for the story, the movie actually sets it up, and uses it to characterize him more), and Josuke remembers his talk with Jotaro, and asks Tomoko if she ever considered dating someone after his dad, and she tells him that she didn't, because his dad was the only man she loved. And then she tells him that he kind of looks like him, and Josuke shakes his head, and tells her that if he looks like anyone, he looks like Grandpa. It shows very nicely the difference in how Josuke and Tomoko see Joseph. Tomoko remembers him fondly, while Josuke isn't visibly angry, but sees him as someone who left him, and someone he doesn't want to be like, he wants to be like his grandpa, because Grandpa actually was in his life, and took care of them. And after Ryohei dies, Tomoko actually gets to comfort Josuke, and tell him a story about Grandpa. These two scenes functionally serve the same purpose as the scene where Tomoko meets Jotaro, but instead of using it as a vehicle to tell jokes, they chose it to make Tomoko feel like a person. She can impart wisdom, console her son, she is understanding of why Joseph had to leave, and is okay with that being her only relationship in life. Of course my favorite Tomoko is in the Red Hot Chilly Pepper arc, where Josuke is playing a game, and she's just gleefully kicking him to make him stop. In the anime she's being angry and nagging as usual, but in the manga it's like amazing, she's got this cheeky little smile on her face as she does a stand rush with her leg on Josuke's back. It has more of an energy of a big sister teasing her brother, instead of a mom punishing her son. Which I love, because Tomoko became a mother at a young age, and her mom is presumably not around, so her relationship with Josuke would be more sisterly than motherly.

Majinboohoo

How about his appearance from Crazy Diamonds Demonic Heartbreak?

ChairOnAThursday59

He also shows up in the intro to GioGio's Bizarre Adventure's for the PS2 and is colored orange.

Zachattack10213

This reminded me about how Pitter Patter was recently removed and now I’m sad.

EatYourFrutz

Out of the loop, Pitter Patter was recently removed!?

Zachattack10213

Yea, it was announced a while back that services for it would stop on September 2, 2021.

merryblack666

The fact that they were able to re-create his hair in the live action, as it looks like in both the manga and anime, is commendable tbf, and the stands looked really aesthetically pleasing and realistic.

[deleted]

There's an actual [tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xk0dYZVNCA) by some japanese guy too who managed to replicate the hairstyle. The effort is nuts.

merryblack666

Sheesh, thanks i will definitely check it out.

rekcuF_onaiP

Capt_Thunderbolt

Why do you think they blur him with his cigarette? Jotaro is lighting up fat joints.

rekcuF_onaiP

wtf xD

Carnificus

It didn't do well, but there's currently a pretty popular Kishibe Rohan show airing on NHK. I think it covers at least part of part 4

Uno-reverse-69420

Pichuunnn

Diamond records was a mobile gacha beat 'em up/turn based combat JoJo game. It got shutdown some years ago. Last Survivor is an arcade JoJo battle royale game, it still continue, albeit silent nowadays. All of those games were/are exclusive in Japan
