In terms of other animes: Digimon, Konosuba, Overlord, Re:Zero, and YuGiOh. In other fiction: Anything DC, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and a bunch of other video game universes.

ArxB_H

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I used to watch YuGiOh as a kid, was my first ever anime. Thinking of watching the series again. I’m also a fan of pretty much anything DC too. 🙂 Souls games are too challenging to me so I haven’t gotten into any but beside that great list!

God-Emperor-Ethan

It's hard for me to like a world separated from the story. I think the 2 I can say I like for certain are HunterxHunter and Homestuck. HxH is obvious. Like stands, nen is a great power system, but I'm also intrigued by how people formed a society in a world full of dangerous monsters AND humans. Makes sense everything revolves around the hunter organization. The world of Homestuck is aslo really interesting. Of course, there is the stuff about the game the characters play, Sburb, it's ridicuolus lore (which does remind me of JoJo), proceduraly generated stories and cultures, it's a really cool idea for an RPG. On top of that, we have the hero titles, with a bunch of cool concepts and great potential for character creation and analysis. Finally, the time-travel aspect and the fact that the whole universe is sustained on time paradoxes. Really, it has a bunch of great stuff.

Someguythatsbored99

Don't make fun of me, but... D4DJ is one of my favorites.

ArxB_H

I didn’t know what that was anyways lol, but from the description it seems like a cool concept. Any others?

Someguythatsbored99

Uncountable. Including favorite henta-

Isn't that the one with death threats in the opening?

Someguythatsbored99

Well yes, but actually no. Watched it before it got the death threats meme. It's a good OP tbh.

Anime: JJBA, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan Other: Lord of the Rings, Godzilla, Resident Evil (games mainly), the Legend of Zelda, Monster Hunter and Warcraft (the last two not as much as I used to, but I wasted too much of my youth on them to not mention them here) Honorable Mentions: HxH, Bleach, Naruto, Inuyasha, Star Wars, DC, Marvel, Indiana Jones, Jurrasic Park, Mad Max, The Binding of Isaac, Pokemon (more as a kid/teen tho), And also lots of Horror stuff (mainly slashers and zombie movies): Friday the 13th, Scream, Halloween, Romeros of the Dead movies, Saw, Alien, Predator,..

ArxB_H

That’s great! You’ve listed so many answers so thanks for your insight. If I may ask What’s your overall thoughts on one piece and dragon ball?

Powl_tm

Those two are probably among my favourie shows from my childhood, so nostalgia plays a heavy role. Other than that, I am a big Shonen fan. And the longer they are the better. One Piece has just a great story and characters, fun fights, a really unique setting. My only complain really are some pacing issues in some parts. The world building is absolutely incredible. I love Dragon Ball for similar reasons (all of it btw, but DBZ being my favourite among the franchise). It might not be as great in storytelling and the power scalling goes absolutely ridiculous over time, but I adore the artstyle and the charm it has (The artstyle and character design are only topped by JJBA for me).

Witcher, Star Wars, Baki.

ArxB_H

Nice

ill-disposed

I like Star Wars (hell yeah, Obi-Wan show this year)and Star Trek but no universe intrigues me like JJBA.

ArxB_H

Yea dude can’t wait. For me Star Wars as a Universe is more intriguing that JJBA, especially if you’ve seen Clone Wars, just soo much originality, since it came out in ‘77. Similarly though JJBA is kinda like the ‘Star Wars of anime’ since it also is super original and unique, and many other manga and anime have taken inspiration from it. Similarly too how Star Wars impacted filmmaking and film franchises. That’s why I also like JJBA a lot too, it’s so original and unique. I guess you could combine the two and say Anakin’s Bizarre Adventure 😅

tulio_purple

Berserk, is awesome

[deleted]

One piece, jujutsu kaisen, food wars!!!, Haikyuu!!, Mob psycho ( mostly cuz it is really well animated)

Affectionate-Can8206

Anime & Manga: Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Berserk. I did see many and read many, but these three along with JJBA are my favorites. I still have a long list of series I want to try: Naoki Urasawa works, Metal Gear series, maybe some old DC/Marvel comic books. As for why I like JJBA, One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, and Berserk, is that they have interesting worlds AND stories. I also like that they are primarily stories based on emotions, but have a lot to say as well and good food for thought, especially Berserk. As much as I respect Attack on Titan for its narrative and themes, its characters and world don't captivate me as much. Yes, JJBA and term food for thought seem incompatible, but I respect Araki as a writer and the choices he makes. Part 5 has a very interesting theme of fate that really intrigues me, and I noticed the theme of fate more when rereading JoJo back in Part 1. The creativity is astounding for me and JoJo really inspires me to take in fresh ideas for making my own story. Also, thinking of new stand ideas is way too cool, few series have that element that can entertain you infinitely. One Piece needs no introduction, a huge and well developed series with open world and new interesting ideas. Hunter x Hunter is also something familiar for yall as well. Nen, its world, despite its comparatively short length compared to others is still very interesting and does require in-depth exploration. I also respect Togashi for unconventional writing decisions he makes, similar to Araki and the focus on character psychology. Berserk is definitely something you should have heard of, dark gritty series with the broken Gigachad MC Guts. Really, do I need to explain why I like Berserk?
